Soon, another group of skeletons walked out of the forest and began walking towards them. Anna didn't waste any time and began reading their weakness.
Much to her surprise, however, they had similar weaknesses as before, so it didn't take her long to take care of them.
It tired her, yes, but it was still easier than before. Not much, but enough to make a count.
Just as she was about to rest again, the familiar voice resounded again.
Third Wave is about to begin.
This time, the skeleton appeared from the north direction of the forest, and they were similar to the past two waves.
Anna once again defeated all of them.. But the fatigue was building up in her body.
She once again thought of resting, but… the voice echoed before she could even think of rest.
Fourth Wave is about to begin.
Anna already had her eyes set in the south direction of the forest, and just as she had assumed, the sound of rustling leaves and rattling bones began to come from the south of the forest.
Soon enough, ten skeletons walked out of the forest and began to walk towards Anna.
She looked at them with her eyes before heaving a sigh and getting ready to kill them all.
"Let's get this over with."
She muttered before beginning her counter slaugher on the skeletons, she jumped at them like a blood thirsty demon, even though the skeletons had no blood.
Her sword whistled through the air as it reaped their profane lives… bones crumbled and vanished with each of her strikes until a final skeleton was left.
She took a leisurely step towards the last skeleton and got ready to swing, but just as she was about to do that, the fatigue hit her, slowing her action.
The skeleton reduced the distance between them as it lifted its rusted sword and swung it at Anna like a guillotine, ready to sever her from head to toe.
However, before the rusted sword could reach her, she moved and pierced the skeleton's head with minimal movement.
The strange thing, however, was that… she didn't look fatigued, or even if she was fatigued, it looked like her body wasn't affected by it for a moment until her steps faltered and she had to use her sword to stand straight.
"What was that?" She questioned, her voice a mere whisper hinting at how fatigued she was.
But… this was not the end of her battle as the voice echoed once more.
Fifth Wave is about to begin.
Anna continued to lean against the sword as she waited for the skeletons to reveal their location.
Suddenly, the sound of rustling leaves and rattling bones filled the forest and hearing that sound, Anna's expression hardened…
The sound was not coming from a single direction … no, it was coming from all four directions.
Anna forced herself to look around, and she saw ten skeletons coming out of the forest from all four directions.
Seeing them, Anna's eyes widened for a moment before they receded to their usual size.
"So annoying…" She muttered before getting ready to attack them.
Anna walked towards the nearest group and began to attack them.. However, the fatigue had already begun to show its effects, as just from battling against the first group, her body was covered in wounds.
The more she fought, the more wounds appeared on her body.
A few moments later, her steps became slow, but she still dodged most of the attack by side-stepping or ducking down… her proficiency with the sword had also increased a lot as she swung and slashed at the skeletons with the least amount of moment.
Till she killed the first ten skeletons, her body was soaked in her own blood… her silver hair was dyed crimson, and her face was pale, yet her eyes burned with defiance and confidence.
The wounds only continued to increase the longer she fought. Just as she defeated the other five skeletons, she could not even move her body.
A group of five skeletons closed in on her as they got their rusted swords ready to attack her.
However, just as they were about to hit her… Anna side-stepped and killed another skeleton.
She had a surprised expression on her face as she moved through the horde of skeletons and killed them with relative ease.
Even so, she didn't have time to question what was going on… and she had a clue of what was going on… she had simply entered the state of battle clarity. Anna's sword moved without stopping as she continued to reap the unholy lives of the profane creatures before her.
Battle had become much easier for her in the state of clarity… and finally, only a single group of ten skeletons stood before her.
Anna's cold and indifferent eyes scanned through the group as she stepped forward and reaped the lives of the first group as if it were a child's game.
The sword sang the verse of Anna's slaughter with each step she took.
Soon, she stood before the final three skeletons.
She tightened her grip and lashed at the three, and cut through all of them.
Right after she killed them, the constant guard of survival broke… her steps faltered, but Anna did not let herself fall. She embedded the sword in the ground and leaned against it as it waited for the voice.
A few moments passed, and the voice resounded again.
The waves have ended.
The sound of breaking glass filled the forest as the world began to darken. Anna stood within the dark void for summertime before her heavy eyes closed by themselves, and she entered the sweet embrace of sleep.
The dark void around her rippled, and the wide dark chamber took its place.
Yabin had already appeared beside Anna and was currently holding her in her arms. She looked at Anna's face with a wide smile and added softly.
"You did it."
