============
What walked out of the last of the gate was a skeleton clad in dark armor, a being that you see at the end stages of a dungeon, a boss level monster that should not be here in the first place.
KiRA was standing against a death knight right now, the superior being to any of the normal soldier skeletons or even mages.
These creatures, born from a corpse of someone who had passed recently and carried deep regrets of their own, were some of the smartest beings the necromancers could ever produce.
KiRA knew just how dangerous this creature was.
The armor that he was wearing right now burned the golden threads that were present all around him, there were purple-black flames that KiRA could feel even from his current distance.
The flames were not Aura, this was the darkness energy coming from the core of the creature hidden behind the expensive looking armor.
The Darkness was also opposite of the Light or Holy power, however, unlike demonic energy and corruption, Darkness was a pure elemental power.
It was just as powerful as light, in many aspects, much stronger than the light.
Not many beings possessed it, so the Lady Swordsman that he met in the Cathedral and the final battle on the 3rd floor was the only other person who had used Darkness until now.
The core of dark energy wasn't demonic power so the source of these monsters until now was not at least demonic.
It seems like there is a Dark mage that just started learning about the advanced stuff.
Perhaps they are studying under a prominent necromancer, otherwise a product like this one would not be easy to produce.
"But then again, we are still talking about a Death Knight."
The fact that the source material used to create this one turned into a death knight means the knight must have had a plethora of experience or potential.
The thing before him right now was a conscious machine born for cold killing and following the will of its master.
The reason it was here right now meant it was tasked with killing whoever was out here.
And, now that it had chosen KiRA as the target, it was going to face him head on, doing everything in its power to kill him until it was completely destroyed.
{ "You… human… strong." }
For a novice death knight to be able to speak… KiRA was caught off guard by the situation but then smirked instantly.
"Seems like you were a veteran. Does that mean you want to fight with your honor on the line?"
He had fought many kinds of Death knights throughout the various floors of the tower but the ones who stood out the most were always those who had lived for honor their entire lives.
The true knights as you'd call them, those who followed the knight's code, and those who fought for the others.
The selfless heroes, the ones who guided the weaker ones before stepping forward, despite being made into a monster, only these heroes would retain their chivalry.
{ "Fight… honor… we." }
The knight could not speak all the words but it took out its shining black sword and took a stance with one hand on his armored chest.
"Then an honorable fight it is, fallen warrior." KiRA shared a different pose as he wielded twin blades, but the greetings were conveyed.
The two faced each other with a blaze in their eyes, the skeleton actually had fire in his eyes at that moment.
Aura, the signature power of a true knight, blazed out of his entire body.
Dark flames of purple-black shade covered his body, and he stood there, waiting for the opponent to make the first move.
It was a basic rule of a duel that the stronger one would give the first move to the opponent, and KiRA did not waste the opportunity presented to him.
-Ooooooooooooooooong!
While he did not have Aura like the opponent, the holy power that he possessed blazed around his entire body.
With the boost from his title, he stood with both his blades glowing with the holy energy, Unity's buffs further strengthening his blades.
The opponent was using darkness while he was using the pure holy power. The opponent was a death knight vulnerable to the opponent's power but KiRA was relatively much weaker than the skeleton.
The fight was not of Darkness against Light, it was the battle of survival for both the opponents who had disadvantages in one way or another.
"Let the victory belong to the worthy one." KiRA announced as he gathered the energy towards his feet and vanished from their view.
-Zaaaaaaaaaa…!
There was light scattered everywhere when that happened as if someone had just used a flash bomb. Anyone who relied on their sense of sight would have been knocked out instantly, however, the dead knight was unlike the normal mortal beings.
-Clang!
It saw through KiRA's deception and with only one blow of his dark, Aura covered broadblade, slashed into an empty surrounding.
-Boooooom!
First it was a strong clashing sounds of metals, but then without the presence of sparks, there was an explosion and someone was thrown to a different side of the arena.
"Ugh!"
It wasn't the dead knight but the opponent. KiRA had just endured the knight's blow head on and was thrown to the other side of the arena.
He did not get hit by surprise though. This was an intentional hit to gauge the powers that the opponent possessed.
He knew the death knight was much stronger than him but KiRA still wanted to know just how strong this opponent actually was.
And now that he had tested him, KiRA knew just two more blows like the previous one would rip apart his inner organs and give him irreversible damage.
'I have to be careful…'
He gathered his thoughts while avoiding another attack coming from the front.
-Swiiiiiish!
The knight was right in front of him and yet when he needed to dodge the incoming sword, he dodged to the side.
{ "Tsk…" }
The attack, as KiRA had already predicted, was a deception from the experienced knight.
The sword changed its path midway and moved in a crescent path, cutting the air instead of what should have been mortal flesh.
-Ooooooooooooooooooong!
KiRA knew he could not make any mistakes from here on out. The knight that he was facing right now may be the lowest rank death knight with the most basic of the stats, but this was no ordinary individual.
The opponent that he was facing right now was a veteran. The battle experience from when it used to be human must be vast, it was showing in its swordsmanship.
-Swish! Swish! Swish!
-Clang! Clang! Clang!
-Boooooooooom!
The battle that was happening right now was more intense than the trap corridor that KiRA had passed in the first stage.
Two of them battled through the entire arena. There were slashes of darkness all around the place, cross cuts that resembled a star made of darkness.
On the other side, there were deep footprints with a swirl around them. KiRA's footwork technique that utilised his {Gale steps} made him not only as swift as storms, but also as damaging as the hurricanes.
-Ooooooooooooooooong!
Whenever he used his Holy power to use different techniques, the attacks that managed to find the target did exceptional damage to the skeleton.
Even though the knight was much stronger than the usual undead creatures, it was not something that could avoid the Holy power completely.
The darkness that it possessed only gave it resistance against the Holy power, but when KiRA was using it along with destructive techniques, there was no way to avoid the damages.
'A little more…'
KiRA pushed harder. He avoided every attack that was coming from the knight, as well as all the attacks that could possibly be used in this fight.
He estimated the attacks, made his counters, and followed through with just the right attacks that did even the minimum of the damage.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish!
KiRA did not get hit after the first attack, but the knight, even with its years of experience, could not bring out everything it had in its current body.
Perhaps it hadn't been long since it became a death knight, perhaps it was still getting used to a lot of things. Whatever the case may be, the knight was getting pushed back… even though it was happening slowly, the difference in experience was still clear.
{ "Human… very strong." }
The Knight knew by the time it had started getting corrupted by the Holy power that its end was already near.
Once a 'dead' starts getting affected by Holy power, it is like their soul is getting subjected to salvation.
They would only have a few moments of their lives left, and in these last few moments, the death knight literally had nothing to lose anymore.
{ "Respect…! To human…!" }
The death knight started pushing his body, core, and his entire being to their limits!
-Oooooooooooooooong!
It extracted whatever energy it could from the energy core and used it fuse not the attacks, but the remaining parts of its body.
It strengthened the body to its limits, making the bones underneath the dark armor glow purple as if they had become illumination crystals.
"Ughhh…!"
KiRA had spread the Holy power throughout the arena to enhance the symptoms of Holy corruption but what the death knight was doing right now, unintentionally leaked whatever dark energy it could not control, lessening the effects of the holy power.
The surrounding holy power was still something one cannot overcome easily, but for the knight that was now much stronger than just a moment ago, the environment did not matter anymore…
