Chapter 139
"Then give me a kiss."
Zhong Ning leaned over and pressed a kiss on her lips—not a light, fleeting peck, but a deep, heated, lingering kiss.
One kiss ended, and then came another.
She kissed Xie Shiqing until her lips turned red and slightly swollen. Only then did she smile, pressing their foreheads together, and asked, "Do you still want another kiss?"
Xie Shiqing raised her eyebrows defiantly. "What if I say yes?"
She didn’t get an answer, but she got another round of kisses.
Thanks to Zhong Ning’s practically unconditional and bottomless indulgence, even at school, Xie Shiqing had no intention of holding back.
During class, since it wasn’t convenient to disturb her, she would endlessly fidget with the zipper on Zhong Ning’s coat hem or tug at the pendant on her bracelet.
These little gestures were frequent, but since Zhong Ning didn’t find them too distracting, she just let her be.
After class, Xie Shiqing would declare righteously, "Ning Ning, you have to give me a kiss."
In front of everyone, Zhong Ning only pressed a light kiss on her lips—any more than that, and she feared a classmate might report them.
Even so, the two of them sitting together was already attention-grabbing enough, especially with a bodyguard always trailing behind Xie Shiqing. Recently, she had changed her approach and only brought one bodyguard when going out. She wore a blindfold-style visor with AI-assisted distance sensing and listened to intelligent voice prompts through an earpiece, replacing both human guidance and a white cane.
It looked less exaggerated than before, but the blind visor was completely black. With such large dark glasses on her face and being a striking beauty with an imposing aura, Xie Shiqing naturally drew attention wherever she went.
Zhong Ning’s roommates were the first to start shipping them.
Attractive people always drew attention, and Xie Shiqing wasn’t just attractive—she was at the top tier of beauty. Her blind eyes, clearly a flaw, instead added a dangerously enchanting allure to her appearance.
There was also the thrill of having their gossip confirmed—so this was what Zhong Ning’s girlfriend looked like!
If they were the ones getting dumped, they'd cry a new Yellow River into existence.
Xie Shiqing was someone who cared deeply about her privacy. As the chairwoman of an entertainment company, she managed celebrities who were far more famous than herself. The boss behind the scenes didn’t need to be in the public eye.
Especially since the Xie Corporation dealt in information and online traffic, Xie Shiqing was even more careful—there was no trace of her online.
So the roommates were only stunned by her looks. When they saw a professor approach and greet her, they assumed she was a senior student, probably a few years older, a top achiever and probably wealthy.
That guess, at least, wasn’t wrong.
Xie Shiqing might openly get jealous over Pine Mushroom, but outside she never acted like a petty person. She spoke appropriately and even offered to treat the roommates to a meal as thanks for taking care of Zhong Ning.
Polite and courteous, it was the kind of invitation made by someone who placed herself as the main character.
Yet her tone was warm, her smile sincere—it didn’t come off as overbearing. Instead, it made people feel pleasantly surprised, even flattered.
A free meal? Of course they’d take it. The atmosphere was harmonious, and by the end of the meal, everyone had a glowing impression of Xie Shiqing.
A master of manipulating hearts like her didn’t even need to try hard—just one dinner and she had a group of college freshmen wrapped around her finger, all speaking praises.
Before she knew it, it was already time for the weekend student council gathering. Zhong Ning really didn’t want to go. She felt that she had already secured her footing at the Zhong family and truly didn’t want to start building connections from scratch again in the student council—it was exhausting and troublesome.
But since she believed in finishing what she started, she still reluctantly put on her coat and headed out.
Xie Shiqing wanted to follow her, but Zhong Ning didn’t agree. That person even put on a pitiful expression, and Zhong Ning had to promise her ten kisses just to coax her into staying.
This gathering wasn’t a formal meeting to discuss serious matters—it was a real party, where everyone got together to eat, drink, and have fun.
It was Fu Nanshuang who came to pick her up by car. As soon as Zhong Ning got in, the latter immediately clicked her tongue teasingly with a mischievous look on her face. “You and Xie Shiqing have been way too high-profile lately. The school forum is full of posts about you two. It’s added so much work for me recently—my hand’s sore from deleting posts.”
Zhong Ning sat cross-legged in the back seat with her laptop in her lap, booting it up in one fluid motion. When she heard that, she looked up in surprise and said, “Our school has a campus forum?”
Fu Nanshuang widened her eyes and burst into laughter, leaning forward as she laughed. “Don’t tell me you really didn’t know! Oh my god, it’s written right in the admissions brochure—it’s an internal forum, you log in with your student ID. You’re killing me, I don’t even know what to say. The semester’s almost over!”
“There’s not much to see, really. Most of it is nonsense. But the student council’s job includes managing the forum and reviewing posts—it’s kind of tedious.”
She didn’t apply herself, so where would she have seen the admissions brochure?
Zhong Ning was helpless.
The main issue was that everyone just assumed it was common knowledge, so no one ever thought to tell her directly. Fu Nanshuang also hadn’t expected there’d be someone who truly had no clue.
She pulled out her phone, logged into her admin account, and showed Zhong Ning her deletion logs.
‘Anyone know how to contact this goddess?’
‘Mom, I think I’m in love’
‘Don’t fall in love, heartbreak comes in a flash’
‘Please give me her contact info—I’ll lie on the tracks for life!’
‘She doesn’t seem like a student here—does anyone know her?’
Zhong Ning: …
So unreserved. These people were way too unreserved!
She wasn’t the jealous type, not really, but seeing a bunch of people clamoring for Xie Shiqing’s contact information wasn’t exactly a pleasant feeling.
Love naturally came with possessiveness—Zhong Ning wasn’t generous enough to be above all that.
Seeing her darkened expression, Fu Nanshuang laughed so hard she nearly fell over, her mouth stretching so wide it could’ve reached the Southern Heavenly Gate. She only calmed down after a good while and said, “It’s fine, I already deleted all of them. Don’t worry, it’s all good.”
“But why are you bringing your laptop to a gathering?”
Zhong Ning replied, “Assistant Hua’s proposal still isn’t finished.”
Fu Nanshuang looked like she had swallowed bitter herbs and clicked her tongue. “You’re seriously too busy these days. Spinning around like a top nonstop. Think about it—how long has it been since we last hung out together?”
