Miss Shepherd does not die in the Mysterious World

Ch. 25

Chapter 25: We'll See Each Other Again Tomorrow Too

The blonde girl stopped in her tracks, a hint of fear in her eyes as she looked at Vilnia.

Vilnia walked closer slowly, her hand gently stroking the exquisite packaging of the chocolate box.

“Truffle chocolates from Florence are indeed nice,” she said softly, “however, Mel prefers raspberry cake.”

Anna's body trembled slightly.

Vilnia's fingers brushed across her cheek as she whispered in her ear.

“Tell me, my dear Anna, why are you trying to get close to Mel?”

The sun was still warm, but it cast a long, slender shadow behind Vilnia.

The shadow seemed to have spread huge wings, enveloping the entire corridor in darkness.

Following Vilnia's words, the same pattern as Claire's appeared in Anna's pupils.

Her consciousness began to blur, as if she were shrouded in an invisible net.

Anna was also one of her lambs.

In other words, more than two-thirds of the students in the entire classroom were Vilnia's flock.

“It was.... it was my parents who told me to do it....”

Anna said, swallowing hard.

“But didn't I tell you not to get close to her?”

Vilnia asked back in a cold voice.

“Your parents' words and my words, who should you listen to? Don't you have your own judgment?”

Anna's legs trembled slightly.

Every word from Vilnia was like a sharp blade, gently scraping across her heart.

“I.... I just....”

Vilnia's fingers gently brushed through Anna's blonde hair, the gesture as gentle as stroking a fragile butterfly.

However, her eyes grew colder, and a dangerous light flickered in the depths of her pupils.

“Just what?”

Vilnia whispered, “Just feel that your parents' words are more important than my command?”

“Clatter——”

The chocolate box slipped from Anna's trembling hands, making a crisp sound on the marble floor.

The exquisitely packaged gift box was deformed from the fall, and a few truffle chocolates rolled out, glinting temptingly in the sunlight.

Vilnia slowly squatted down, picked up a chocolate, sniffed it lightly at the tip of her nose, then unwrapped it and put it in her mouth.

Anna's pupils contracted violently, and the strange pattern began to fluctuate wildly.

Vilnia's fingers gently lifted her chin, forcing her to look directly into those soul-capturing eyes.

“Tell me, Anna,” Vilnia's voice seemed to carry a magic as sweet as the chocolate, “who does your soul belong to?”

Anna's consciousness began to blur, and the pattern in her pupils gradually stabilized.

She spoke mechanically:

“It belongs to you, Miss Vilnia——my soul only belongs to you.”

Vilnia nodded in satisfaction and released her fingers.

Anna collapsed to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut, her eyes staring blankly ahead.

“Very good.”

Vilnia said softly, “Did your parents tell you why you should get close to Mel?”

The sun still shone warmly in the corridor.

Her shadow stretched long on the wall, like a winged demon, looming over Anna who was kneeling on the ground picking up the chocolates.

“Yesterday, someone came to visit our house....”

Anna recalled.

Mom and Dad were very respectful to that person, addressing him as Mr. Allen.

After Mr. Allen left, Dad called me into the study and asked if I knew Mel.

Then he told me to get on good terms with Mel, and if possible, it would be best to invite her to our house as a guest.

Hearing this, Vilnia's brow furrowed slightly.

After a moment of silence, she asked:

“What do your parents believe in?”

“Knowledge...”

Anna answered, trembling.

Vilnia's face grew even colder.

“Believers of Knowledge”

She murmured, “They shouldn't be from Saint Clement's Lyceum.... nor does it seem like something the Frontier of Reason or the Ivory Tower would do. Then it's the Omniscience Society and the Truth Poetry Society.”

Thinking of this, Vilnia's expression gradually became solemn.

“When did this situation start?”

“Three... three months ago.”

Anna said.

“Dad met someone, I don't know who, but after that, the family business started to get much better. That Mr. Allen comes about once a week. They always talk about some strange things in the study... about knowledge and truth...”

Vilnia's fingers gently stroked Anna's blonde hair, the gesture as gentle as soothing a frightened bird.

“Then it seems it's the Omniscience Society.”

Vilnia said softly to herself, “Those people from the Truth Poetry Society wouldn't waste this kind of effort on ordinary people.”

After a pause, she looked at Anna again, “From today on, ignore any of your parents' orders regarding Mel. If anyone asks, just say you're not interested in her, or that she doesn't like you, understand?”

With that, she withdrew her hand, stood up, and walked straight into the classroom, leaving Anna alone in the corridor.

“Yes... I understand, Miss Vilnia.”

The young girl's fingers trembled as she picked up the scattered chocolates one by one, as if picking up the pieces of her own broken will.

Vilnia returned to the classroom and quietly sat down beside Mel.

Her movements were gentle and just right, making little noise so as not to wake the napping Mel.

Vilnia's gaze first swept over the students in the classroom.

Those lambs belonging to her flock all averted their gazes, not daring to meet her eyes.

After chasing away those annoying gazes, Vilnia turned her eyes back to Mel, her gaze as gentle as water.

She silently watched Mel's sleeping face, her fingers gently caressing a lock of Mel's gray hair, as if stroking a precious treasure.

The warm sunlight streamed into the classroom, illuminating Vilnia's exquisite face.

In the depths of those eyes, a dangerous flame burned.

It was the possessiveness of a predator for its prey.

It was the control of a shepherd over her lamb.

It was the covetousness of one mad soul for another pure soul.

As the bell rang for the end of school, Mel began to pack her things, preparing to go home.

“Mel.”

Just before she left, Vilnia called out to her.

“Do you still remember our promise?”

Hearing this, Mel was slightly taken aback, then nodded gently.

“Mm, the weekend, right.”

“Yes, the weekend.”

Vilnia said with a smile, then reached out to gently adjust Mel's tie.

“Saturday afternoon, I'll come pick you up——remember to dress nicely.”

Mel nodded slightly, but the moment Vilnia's fingers touched her neck, she felt a strange chill.

That feeling was like being gently licked by a snake's tongue, making her shudder involuntarily.

Vilnia seemed to have noticed Mel's strangeness, so she withdrew her hand and gently stroked Mel's hair.

“What's wrong, a little cold?”

“It's nothing....”

Mel shook her head and subconsciously took half a step back.

“Then I'll head back first.”

“Why don't we——”

“See you tomorrow, Vilnia.”

Vilnia's words were cut off by Mel.

Hearing Mel's farewell, Vilnia paused for a moment, then smiled sweetly and waved goodbye.

“Mm, see you tomorrow, Mel.”

We'll see each other again tomorrow too.

We'll see each other again every tomorrow.
