“Uichan.”The once lively air froze, turning still. Jack, who had been toying with Uichan’s cheeks like sticky rice cakes, cleared his throat awkwardly and lowered his hand. Uichan turned toward the voice calling him. A man sat tilted casually atop the stone table, smiling.Whenever Hyde spoke, silence naturally followed. Though he always wore a gentle mask, no one could read what lay beneath. Uichan realized, a beat too late, that he hadn’t greeted him yet.“Ah… I’m sorry.”He hurried over and stepped into Hyde’s open arms. Uichan fit perfectly against that broad chest, like a missing puzzle piece. Hyde chuckled softly and patted his back.“It’s been half a month, hasn’t it? Have you been well?”“I always am. What about you, Hyde, and the others? Nothing unusual?”“What could possibly happen to us?”Though Hyde changed faces as easily as clothes, the impression was always the same—handsome, flawless, captivating. No matter how often he replaced his features, there was one thing he could never alter: his chalk-white eyes, in which the Big Dipper always gleamed clearly, no matter the season.“Since everyone’s here, sit down. There’s something we need to discuss.”The figures lounging on the porch slowly got to their feet. They each took their seats around the stone table until only one spot remained—right beside Hyde. After glancing at his companions, Uichan sat there quietly. To the outside world, In the Hell was nothing but an arrogant, lawless villain syndicate wreaking havoc on humanity. But within, they followed strict rules.First, outside of villain activity, they never interfered in each other’s personal lives.Second, meetings were held every two weeks at a location designated by Hyde—attendance mandatory.Third, killing a comrade would condemn one to a death more agonizing than the Eight Hells combined.Fourth, though their paths might differ, they must never forget their shared purpose while working together. Those rules had kept peace within In the Hell. After all, beyond their villain personas, each of them lived another life—some as ordinary citizens, others as full-time criminals, and, possibly, even as heroes. But no one ever asked about another’s background or fame.No one, except when it came to Ha Uichan.“It seems the heroes have been searching for Uichan lately.”“Indeed. On my way to fetch him, I noticed heroes stationed all over the streets.”“Such uncultured idiots. If only we knew why, we could handle it properly… Let’s see—this started two months ago, didn’t it? Around that charity gala.”“Shit, those bastards! They must’ve done something to him that night. They made a big show of ‘letting him live,’ but all heroes are the same damn hypocrites!”The room rumbled with angry muttering. Uichan sat stiffly, hands clasped together, his heart pounding. He didn’t dare speak up. Then Hyde, resting his chin on one hand, said calmly,“Well… only the person involved would know.”“Yeah, Uichan. Try to remember. After you fell into that pit with them—what happened?”Jekyll Jack leaned forward impatiently. Uichan couldn’t keep silent any longer. He fidgeted beneath the table, then finally answered in a small voice.“They just… covered me with a coat.”“…A coat? You mean—an actual coat? That’s it? Nothing else?”“Ah… I wasn’t feeling well, so they let me lie down in a corner. Every time I woke up, it was still dark around me.”Uichan deliberately omitted the important parts. The truth of that night was hazy at best. But some memories were too vivid to forget—the dim light flickering, the confined space, and the faint outlines of the men beside him that made his breath catch each time. How could he possibly tell them the truth? That he had slept with three men that night—and ended up pregnant? If his pregnancy ever came to light, In the Hell would not sit idly by. They’d rip those heroes limb from limb, storm out for blood. Uichan couldn’t let that happen. He wanted to deliver the babies safely—and to register their births legally, he needed the fathers’ ability verification documents. Before the children were born, he planned to steal those records himself. Quietly. Legally. He dreamed of a future where he could file their birth certificates and raise the twins without fear.“Out of all the people to fall into a pit with—it had to be those bastards? Damn it!”Jekyll Jack slammed his hand against the stone table, the sound sharp and angry. Beside him, Mother Ship sighed.“Do you know how terrified we were that day? It’s a miracle you even came back alive. Seok Myeongcheol’s curses aren’t something to take lightly. They say once his spell latches onto someone, it won’t break until a full day passes, no matter how hard you beat it out.”Seok Myeongcheol. A notorious criminal who’d escaped prison last year. He’d been captured just yesterday—or rather, found collapsed inside an abandoned building by responding officers. When discovered, his body was bruised beyond recognition, limbs tied so tightly he couldn’t move an inch. Now imprisoned by the Hero Association, he’d been raging nonstop, claiming “Under Doom” had done it to him.“Our poor baby must’ve been so furious, he went and made Seok Myeongcheol a eunuch. I swear, what a cursed life. My heart aches for him.”Mother Ship rocked the swaddled infant in her arms, her expression soft and sorrowful. The child’s cries were less human and more like the growl of a small beast. As for Uichan—he was born under an unlucky star. Fall backward, and his nose would break. Bump into someone, and they’d stumble into the street just in time for a truck to pass.Even the In the Hell members had brushed against death more than once because of him. Misfortune clung to him like a curse. Because of that, people tended to avoid him. The others stayed only because they owed him their lives—and thus watched over him with excessive care. They often said he was the embodiment of Hongan Bakmyeong—“a beautiful face cursed with a short and tragic fate.”They weren’t entirely wrong.Suddenly, three faces flashed through Uichan’s mind: one sly and mysterious, another stoic and loyal as a hound, and the last with eyes warm as sunlight. His pregnancy had been a completely unforeseen accident. But in truth, it all began with Seok Myeongcheol’s prison escape. If that bastard hadn’t attacked the gala, Uichan would never have infiltrated the venue, never have been trapped with those men, never have… shared a bed. And, of course—“……”He wouldn’t be visiting a male obstetrician now.Worried the little ones might somehow hear his thoughts, Uichan spread a palm protectively over his stomach. The quiet felt almost endearing—perhaps they were full and asleep, nestled close together. He quickly withdrew his hand, glancing around nervously, as if someone might have noticed. It was foolish, but he couldn’t help it.That night had been a wet, cold one, snow and rain falling together. His body had felt heavy and feverish, forcing him to sneak out to the emergency exit several times to catch his breath. And that was how he’d witnessed the escaped convict’s rampage—pure bad luck. But then again, wasn’t that Ha Uichan in a nutshell? Born unlucky, cursed from head to toe. His fate was fierce, relentless, and cruel. He’d been at that charity gala as a hired security guard—nothing more. A trivial job, colliding with misfortune, and suddenly it became an inferno that swallowed his entire life. Perhaps it had been inevitable. It was March 27th, when sleet fell across the city. The day that would change Ha Uichan’s life forever.Everything had begun two months ago, at the charity event held at the Richel Hotel.***Two months earlier.March 27th, 7:00 p.m. The Richel Hotel buzzed with excitement for the World Hero Development Fund’s Charity Gala. With wealthy patrons from across the globe in attendance, the evening was dazzling. They said villains were like moths drawn to flame—and such a ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ glittering night was perfect hunting ground.A gathering of top heroes and tycoons was nothing short of an open invitation. To make things worse, there’d even been a formal warning.A week before the event, the organizers had received a single bloodstained card—from Phantom Thief Kill. His calling card, and a declaration of intent.Even so, no one worried too much. Over a hundred hero guards were deployed, and among the guests were Korea’s famed Three Great Mountains—the nation’s strongest heroes. The elemental wielder La Épée.The mercenary hero Blacktan, from a private military company. And Noatis, heir to the defense conglomerate Berta. It was said that Korea’s power rested on the shoulders of these three. With them maintaining security, the event grew more grandiose than ever—a lavish display meant to show the world just how powerful a hero nation Korea had become. With such titans standing watch, what fool of a villain would dare cause trouble? But villains were, by definition, beyond reason. If they thought like ordinary people, they wouldn’t be villains. They wouldn’t have mugshots plastered across the country or bounties on their heads.Inside and outside the hotel, swarming with over a hundred heroes, Ha Uichan stood in his tuxedo and earpiece, scanning the hall as an internal security guard. Whenever fatigue hit, he slipped out to the emergency stairwell, crouching there to rest. For some reason that night, the world spun before his eyes, and even his thick glasses felt unbearably heavy.
