Heal your wounds, then we’ll discuss the rest.”“Then…”Before Gu Yuan could ask further, Mo-shi added, “The Golden Dragon King came to see me. We’ll talk later!”……“What do you want to do?” the white fox asked Gu Yuan curiously.Coming out of his conversation with Mo-shi, Gu Yuan answered plainly, “I want to help her.”“You mean that girl with the blade?”“That’s her.”……The white fox fell silent.Sensing that, Gu Yuan spoke, “Are we going to stay out here in the wilderness?”“Yes.”“Can you turn into a human? We can go to Weiping City; it’ll be safer and recovery will be faster there. My sect is there.”“Sect…” Bailulu murmured, then said, “I can’t turn human, but I can do this.”With that she radiated a shimmering spirit light, then began to shrink.The white fox’s body reduced in size until she was palm-sized.Perched on Gu Yuan’s chest, Bailulu continued, “I can go there, but you must be careful. A group of people has been chasing me.”“Who?”“A group of people crackling with lightning.”Hearing this, Gu Yuan made a guess and asked Bailulu, “Are their robes white?”“How did you know?” Bailulu was surprised.Given the confirmation, Gu Yuan smiled and explained, “They’re enemies of our Fire-Gold Sect. If you come into Fire-Gold Sect with me it’ll be safer.”“All right.”“But where are we now?” Gu Yuan asked after taking a few steps.Bailulu on his shoulder replied, “I don’t know.”“Then let’s go to Tushi Mountain first; I know the road there.”Gu Yuan decided to show his hand.Bailulu looked at him for a moment and then nodded slightly.……After hundreds of rounds of fierce battle between Ren Yongnian and Lei Fei, the two finally drew apart.Both were battered and bleeding, bearing each other’s sword and spear wounds.Ignoring their injuries, Ren Yongnian said to Lei Fei, “You’ve become stronger again.”“You too,” Lei Fei replied.“Seems we won’t settle this today,” Ren Yongnian sighed.Lei Fei was straightforward. “Next time, I’ll take your life.”Ren Yongnian smiled warmly. “Then let’s wait until next time.”At that moment a group of elders in Jinglei Cliff robes flew down from Tushi Mountain, followed closely by elders of the Fire-Gold Sect.Seeing the elders, Ren Yongnian shook his head and said, “Let’s go. It’s over.”“Her name is Fang Qing, right?” Lei Fei asked unexpectedly before Ren Yongnian left.Ren Yongnian, puzzled, nodded. “Yes. Why, interested in her?”Lei Fei did not explain; he only said, “I’ll remember her blade.”After this he fell silent and returned among the Jinglei Cliff people behind him.By then the fight had long become a duel between Lei Fei and Ren Yongnian.Neither wanted their disciples seriously harmed — many present were elite Foundation-stage disciples who could become Golden Core elders in the future. Neither side wished heavy casualties.So the mêlée lasted only briefly before focusing into a duel between the two.Others cheered from behind and kept watch for sneak attacks.Now that the elders had arrived, it signaled the end.Fire-Gold Sect and Jinglei Cliff would not start an all-out war over this minor incident. If elder fought elder, regardless of the victor, both sides would suffer. So this remained a small friction, not one to seriously affect the sects.Only if Lei Fei or Ren Yongnian died would things escalate; otherwise both sides would preserve outward peace.……Back in the Fire-Gold Sect’s retinue, Ren Yongnian led his disciples away and left the site to the elders.The elders exchanged a few harsh words and then departed.……Entering Weiping City, Fang Qing carried Yin Mo to the city lord’s mansion.Weiping City was under Fire-Gold Sect control; its city lord was a sect elder.Fang Qing’s name had spread within Fire-Gold Sect; most knew of her, including the city lord.The city lord did not delay the request of a disciple of the sect and ordered the two healers with the best medical skill to treat them.Their skill was indeed excellent; after a while Fang Qing’s wounds healed. Yin Mo’s fractures, however, required more time.After her wounds healed, Fang Qing simply changed clothes and went to the city gate to wait quietly for one person.On the way she passed ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) Ren Yongnian returning with some Fire-Gold disciples.To maintain appearances she only nodded slightly and paid them no further heed.Ren Yongnian understood and did not linger to speak with Fang Qing; he took his disciples to the city lord’s mansion.……Time passed and the sun sank; the orange-red sunset cast its last light over the land.Fang Qing waited at the busy city gate for a long time and grew impatient.She had been waiting for hours but still saw no sign of him.She thought perhaps he would not come; given his speed he should have arrived quickly. Even injured, he should have made it in a few hours.If he had not come, perhaps he had gone elsewhere — it was reasonable that the protagonist, after a severe injury, might gain a fortunate opportunity in his crisis.With that thought, Fang Qing let go of her expectation and turned away to go to the city lord’s mansion and spend the night there.After walking a short distance she stopped.She decided to take one last look.Turning back toward the gate, her expression changed.She had seen this face for twenty days, eighteen hours, forty minutes and thirteen seconds; she could not have mistaken him.His clothes were somewhat tattered — understandable given the thunder dragon — but why was there a fox on his shoulder?Seeing him, Fang Qing no longer intended to leave.She hurried back to the gate, her steps quickening.Seeing him, the corner of her mouth lifted slightly as she stared at him calmly.He had noticed her direct gaze and raised his eyes.Seeing her in fresh clothes, white and spotless, he seemed momentarily stunned.He did not expect she would be waiting for him.Ignoring the passersby, she came before him and parted her lips slightly.“You came.”“I came.”(That section is finally over; next comes some daily slice-of-life, the final part of this volume.)
