Lily just needs to hold out another half hour and Jason will have recovered enough to escape the grass forest. It didn't look too good for her though as even with how many monsters she had beaten, more kept coming. Luck was on her side though as the monsters still in the grass began to falter. After all, it isn't everyday that you see someone go and fight for so long.
Even with stats like Stamina and recovery items, this was just well and above what was normal. Five minutes would be a long fight and with Lily already having been fighting six times that. Not that the monsters were going to give up, they just felt like letting someone else go first would be the best option.
It wasn't much, but it allowed her some breathing room. Not that she could use it to rest all that much. Instead she took the time to finish off any crippled monsters, that way they don't end up causing problems later on. Still, this was less work than the fighting had been.
Like this another ten or so minutes passed as the monsters cowered, only sending out groups of three and only the weaker members of the troop. While they weren't too much of a threat, they still managed to serve their purpose, that of making sure Lily couldn't actually take a proper rest. While not smart like a person, the fox-headed monsters were clever and completely willing to sacrifice others in their troop.
Though as more time passes they begin to realize something is up. While at this point they've basically written off Jason as dead, the fact Lily hasn't run away despite showing off her great agility score, is causing them to worry. Maybe sapients would be odd like this, but Lily was a beast type monster just like them and so her actions confuse and scare them. They don't run though, instead they call for backup.
From within the tree high grass, haunting echoes sound out as tens of monsters all raise their head to the sky and roar. Worse is when from a distance there are hundreds of roars that respond. There was no telling how long it would take for the support to arrive with the only good thing being that Lily and the nearby monsters are now in a standoff.
With the promise of support, none of the monsters are willing to throw their lives away. Even when some of the elders of the group bark at young trios, none of them move. So time slowly passes for Lily as she fidgets. In the background there are distant roars that are becoming less distant than she would prefer.
Minutes crawled by until there was just a few minutes to go. They were almost home clear so of course that was when the reinforcements arrived. From the tall grass numerous monsters show up. Of note though, is that they aren't the same monsters as the ones that had been attacking them.

Sure, you could tell they were in the same family of monsters, but that had more to do with their body shape instead of the specifics. Their six arms all ended in monkey-like hands and the middle set face backward. Beyond that though it all could vary.
The group they had been fighting were characterized by insect-like bodies and a fox head. Now there were monsters with fish heads and panda bodies, ant heads and tiger bodies, ibis heads and jackal bodies, and those were just the larger groupings that were easy to pick out.
A good thing that within the last couple minutes Jason had been beginning to come out of his recovery meditation. They would be ready to flee soon enough as the last few minutes were more for padding than actually required. Still, it would have been nice to have the breathing room.
Not that they were out of the woods or anything. Lily still needed to defend for the last minute. Less than that really, but it was needed so that Jason wouldn't waste some of his recovered stamina just to be ready right away instead of taking the time needed to warm up.
So Lily fought. Strange monsters charge at her from every side and she can no longer hold back. From her fur extended inch long spikes of Energy such that even when dodged, her attacks can still reach out and touch her enemies.
Important as at this point she can't afford to target specific enemies, instead becoming like a bouncing ball of blood and pain. Never stopping long enough to do much damage, only doing enough to keep the enemies away.
Time passes and wounds accumulate on Lily as she can no longer pay attention to not getting hit. It is a close thing for her, but as she dips below ten health the monsters draw back in surprise. Not from anything she had done. Rather, Jason has finally stood up, a shocking event for the monsters when they had thought him dead.
Jason wasn't certain exactly what had happened, but he wasn't going to let this chance go to waste and so with a burst of speed grabs Lily and books it. A thing that the surrounding monsters did not take highly to. Now, if Jason had wanted to, he could have lost them quickly enough. Their six limbed bodies were definitely designed for climbing instead of running.
He didn't though, that wasn't his goal. So for the next six hours Jason paces himself to stay just barely ahead of a growing hoard of monsters. He really didn't want this to happen, but he didn't have a chance and could only hope someone wasn't coming from the other direction. So of course there was.
The only bright side to the matter is that he came across them relatively early on their trek into the grass forest. That meant they only had to run about ten minutes to escape. A thing they promptly did, leaving Jason behind as they went at a much greater speed than he was even capable of at this point.
