Glakassa's face paled as she drew upon her Bloodline. Ephemeral tails pushed their way out of her backside, and the air temperature started to drop. She let out a bestial howl and reinforced the ice shield. The frost turned into true ice, thick, gleaming blue frozen water that looked as if it had come from an ancient iceberg.
The fiery lance continued to melt the ice, but it was far less successful in doing so. Eventually, it petered out. Sam and Jacob teleported out from behind their shield. With twinned leaps, they shot up into the sky, trailing the light of their Daos.
On the horizon, the fiery armor came closer and closer. Its sword started to heat up, the blue heat of the plasma turning white as its wielder determined that Sam and his allies weren't easy opponents.
Beneath it, the ground melted. The stone turned to running slag, oozing snakes of lava spreading across the ground as the titan flew. At that range Sam was finally able to scan the newcomer.
Sunchild(Tower Alias)
Heliocynth
Level 175
The cultivator's level was normal for this stage of the Tower, but their strength was not.
"You mind if I take this one?" the Overlord asked, clenching his fists at his sides. "Seems like a good fight."
"Go ahead," Sam answered. "I took care of that Time cultivator. Perhaps we can let Glakassa deal with the next one?"
Sam dropped to the ground, canceling his momentum with a few teleports. He watched as his father expanded his Dao aura, glowing like a red star as he flashed across the sky. His aura struck that of Sunchild a split second later. The sky crackled as the two mighty cultivators fought for dominance, but in a battle like this, there really could only be one victor.

A spike of overwhelming superiority lanced out from the Overlord's hand. It slammed into the Heliocynth's aura field and burst through. With a roar, the Overlord teleported in after it. His fists glowed with brilliant scarlet light, and his spirit was just as ready. Armor of his Dao coalesced around him, gauntlets of Ego's red light girding his fists.
Between one moment and another, he was standing before Sunchild and the warrior's energy suit, his fist cocked back. Behind it, a silhouette of a far larger fist formed, filled with the conceptual energy that made the man so powerful. For a brief moment that fist created a halo of ruby light that shone across the Overlord's whole form. Then he punched.
Sunchild raised their sword to block, the lengthy weapon looking like a building beside Jacob's far smaller form. Then the fist hit and the weapon buckled. The loops of white hot fire that made up the weapon dimmed and bent. A laser-like whip of the Overlord's Dao seared through the sword, slicing it in half. Sunchild's fiery armor was cleaved in half by the strike, revealing the cultivator below.
Sunchild was an androgynous, orange skinned alien. They had the normal anatomy of a human, but with a long appendage, not unlike that of an anglerfish, affixed to their head. At its end was a bright orb of incandescent gas.
The alien summoned their real sword, which was made of metal instead of flame, and met the Overlord in combat. Unfortunately for Sunchild, there was little that the fighter could do. They landed a few hits on Jacob, slicing into his flesh, but compared to the first punch that the Overlord landed, which nearly tore Sunchild's arm off, it was nothing.
The battle wasn't that visually impressive, as most of it was simply a brawl between the two warriors. Quickly, Sunchild faltered, and the Overlord made his move. Snapping his right hand out, he sheathed it in his Dao and grabbed Sunchild's neck. Then he began to squeeze. Sunchild surrendered a moment later, but as the alien vanished, two of the Volcanic Heart gems tumbled out of the air, presumably wrested from a storage space. Jacob snatched them up, and teleported back to Sam's side.
