The fort had fallen quite easily, and Sam moved on to the fourth layer quest. This one, though, was far more complicated than the others. His arrival on the Worldsea hadn't gone unnoticed by the cultists, and with him showing his support for Elvras, he was now a prime target for assasination. Not only that, but he also had to establish his role in Elvras' kingdom as well. Many of the various nobles and courtiers had been happy with the king's isolation, despite not knowing the reason behind it. Even now, with the infiltration by the Dreamer cultists common knowledge, some were too short sighted, or too greedy, to care. Sam was an obstacle to the way that things had been for decades, and to powerful cultivators, obstacles were things to get rid of, rather than work around. Because of this, he now was dealing with a standard survival quest, having to fend off a set number of assassins while helping Elvras deal with the cultists.
Sam's strength was more than enough to mop up entire Dreamer bases on his own, but he tended to stick with the king. Not because of fear or weakness, but because if something happened to Elvras, the Worldsea would tear itself apart with infighting amongst the nobles. With Elvras' track record as an absent king, most of the legislation and ruling was carried out by the nobles, all of whom competed against
one another. His strength was the only thing keeping it all together.
Most of the time, Sam simply trained, preparing for the 65th floor, the next meeting place for challengers. He was excited to see who else had made it there, rising up to the peaks of potential in the cultivation world. He knew that the Overlord would be there, but wondered about Glakassa. She was quite powerful, comparable in potential to even the most impressive of Sam's captains, but he wasn't sure how much that would translate into the Tower. More importantly, the others there would be quite… interesting to deal with. Sam had a suspicion that this floor wouldn't be as much of a pushover as the 25th. Everyone there would be elites in the truest sense of the word, people who could achieve C Rank and above.
The last of the keeps within a hundred thousand miles of the Worldsea capital fell before Sam had dealt with the final assassin. There were no Dreamer outposts left across a good portion of the planet, but considering how large it was, there were still far too many left for comfort.

After that, he simply waited and cultivated in Elvras' palace, before realizing that any would-be assassins would have an easier time of reaching him further afield. Thus, he found a small shack near the base of the mountain, and waited for a Dreamer to show up.
When the assassin finally came, Sam was closing in on upgrades for both of his Dao Fragments. Still, they wouldn't be finished until the end of this floor, or at least, after the next layer. He was used to battlefield cultivation, and for concepts as mechanical as those of the Passage and of Retaliation, mid-fight cultivation would be the best.
The door slammed open, a brute of a man pushing his way in. He had six arms, each of which bulged with corded muscles. So wide was he that he forced his way through the rock making up the walls, leaving an imprint there. He opened his mouth, about to say something, but Sam simply raised his left palm. A blinding flash of light briefly whited out the world, and when it faded, the cultivator was nowhere to be seen. A few specks of dust drifted away in the wind, but that was all.
A moment later, Sam's quest completed, and he vanished from the Worldsea. When reality returned, he was standing upon a craggy volcano, a sea of lava gurgling beneath him. All around, about ten thousand other cultivators stood, in similar positions. He quickly found the Overlord, and to his relief, Glakassa. A System notification popped up before he could do anything.
You have entered the second competition floor(Challenge Mode).
Those of you who have made it this far are head and shoulders above the average cultivator. Every last one of you has Ascendent potential, the potential to become a being capable of ruling galaxies, or even a universe. As a result, this floor will not be a test of cultivator against cultivator, but rather one where opportunities are rife, and rules, nonexistent. Any cultivator can surrender if placed in a life or death situation, and will be removed from the Tower.
All you have to do is to claim at least three of the treasures scattered around this pocket dimension to progress. Most of those here are on Challenge Mode, so the tasks will be the same regardless. The event will begin thirty minutes from now.
