Markets and Multiverses (A Serial Transmigration LitRPG)

Chapter 447: Benefits of the Local System

The first System notifications I looked over were the local System notifications. After all, I already knew roughly what I could expect from the Market's system - it was far less exciting for me than the local System. I wanted to know what kind of boosts I could expect in the future.

The local System didn't give me anything world-shatteringly powerful - I suspected I would still have to wait until I reached level 10 and got my first Feat before I got anything super useful. However, I was still mildly surprised by the ample rewards provided by the local System.

You have leveled up!

Ice Mage has advanced from level 0 to level 6!

+3 Free Stat Points (X6) +1 Sense (X6) +1 Mind (X6)

+1 Vitality (X6)

+2 Mana (X6)

The local System seemed to have given me a total of eight Attribute points for each level I had earned. While the local System inherently lacked the exponential scaling that a new 'grade' got me back in the Market, if I were still grade five, the rewards from going from level 0 to level 1 would have instantly catapulted two stats to Grade 6 if I spent my points correctly. Furthermore, during the time I had spent pondering my first spark with my dad, he had told me that each Spark would provide more stats than the previous one.

Just the first spark was already providing me with eight stat points per level. I could certainly see why normal people in this world seemed so much stronger than the average people of previous worlds.

A moment later, a strange wave of sensations crackled through my skin and pulled me out of my thoughts. It felt as if in a fraction of a second, I had suddenly undergone months of optimized physical conditioning and training. I also had a total of 18 free stat points to spend.

All of my stats were way above what was considered 'normal' for a two year old in this world, so I wasn't too worried about optimizing my spending. I spent a few minutes reviewing my status screen, before I decided to focus on making myself harder to kill. I wanted to see if more [Vitality] would interact with my Eldritch half in any interesting ways, and even if no interaction occurred, I still wanted to be harder to kill. With how fast and strong even the regular spiders had been, I expected that most enemies in this world would be dangerous. Making myself a bit sturdier and harder to kill would mean that a small mistake on the battlefield wouldn't turn me into paste. Then, I admired my new Status Screen.

I smiled to myself. While this System didn't have quite as much potential as the Market's System, it could also benefit me right now, while the Market's System was only accessible between lives. Furthermore, the feeling of my life and energy flowing through my body was incredibly satisfying. It was a sensation that I didn't typically feel when I bought more stats in the market - possibly due to the fact that Market bodies were mass produced and poorly made.

Then, I tried to feel the eldritch half of my body, to see if gaining [Vitality] had somehow impacted the concept of 'hope.' Sadly, it hadn't. However, I did notice that the eldritch half of my body was still growing - almost as if it were at a buffet. It felt like hope was… growing?

I closed my eyes and tried to figure out what was happening, before I smiled. It was the impact from the battle happening in the distance. My actions to alert the human side had played a significant enough role in battle that I had genuinely increased the 'hope' in our surroundings - and my eldritch half was feasting. I had no idea what enhancing my eldritch half would do yet, beyond the fact that enough hope would let me revive even if I died. Still, I suspected it would be a good thing for me.

After that, I started thinking about this world's natives. I had just gotten a total of 8 stat points per level. The [Priest] hadn't mentioned that there were any major differences in how strong each Class was. Based on that, I decided to assume that each class, at least for the first spark, offered roughly comparable stats per level. A regular human started with about 5 in every stat. Due to my Market stats, I had entered this world with about 245 more stats than a normal person - in other words, about 60 levels worth of extra stats, if I ignored the fact that each spark offered more stats per level. That wasn't including the stat boosts from my runes.

However, my father hadn't specified how many extra stats per level someone got for future sparks. My father probably had around grade 13 agility - which would translate to about 115 Agility, approximately. He could rival Sallia's physique, if Sallia didn't boost herself, and my father had also told me he was mostly focused on magic. My father should be between level 60 and 80, since he was working on his fourth spark. I didn't know his exact level, but he had hinted he was on the lower end so I decided to assume he was level 65 or so. He had also told me that magic was his personal passion, so most of his 'free' stat points went towards mana, even though his physique could still rival Sallia's.

I sighed, and rubbed my forehead as I tried to figure out what that meant as far as the average 'stats per level 'of an ordinary native of this world. It was hard to make exact calculations, since my father's stat distribution was unknown, but if I assumed he had around equal physical stats, that meant he had 345 stats points assigned in total… Then, assuming he only got those stats from the 25-ish levels of his physical classes, that meant he got around 14 stat points per level pre-assigned to his physical stats? If he still got around 40% of his raw stats as free attribute points, that probably meant he got around 20 points in stats per level between level 40 to 60. Assuming that all of my math held up properly and I hadn't made any mistakes or incorrect assumptions.

20 stat points per level was… a frightening prospect. It meant that the natives of this world actually had far more potential than they appeared to - because they would still end up with comparable abilities to those of an ordinary transmigrator. Combined with the unknown impact of 'feats' and the fact that someone would get a new Skill every class evolution, and the fact that every skill made it easier to learn and improve a skill… I did some more calculator and assumptions, before I decided I was probably about equal to a level 50 in terms of raw strength in this world, or at least I would be equal to a level 50 once I was grown up and no longer suffered from the penalty of being a child. My spatial sight and soul sight gave me an unusual advantage in scouting and long-range attacks, and a much larger mana pool than my status screen claimed I had. I frowned, and rubbed my forehead. With extinguish, my runes, and my special scouting abilities, maybe I was closer to a level 60 or so?

Either way, I was nowhere near the top of the food chain. Heck, even in this village, I was probably only equivalent to a pretty good warrior with some unusual scouting abilities. That wasn't even including the impact of sparks made by combining other sparks, since those were supposed to be much stronger than regular sparks.

Still, even if a lot of my assumptions were unverified, I was glad to finally have a good idea of where my current strength stood in this world.

The next thing I noticed was a System notification I had seen before, but this time, it was a bit more surprising.

Power: Gain a level in your first Spark (X6)

Achievement +100

I had six Power Achievement rewards. One for each level I had gained.

I smiled to myself. 600 Achievement. Not a bad addition to my reserves. Furthermore, the fact that I had gotten six notifications meant that I could probably expect one System notification per level while in this world. While my Achievement total was still very healthy, it never hurt to have more ways to advance.

The other two System notifications were a lot more normal.

Slaughter: Kill a glacial crawler

Achievement +500

Combined with my earlier level up rewards, that gave me a total of 1,100 Achievement. That brought me from 127,824 to 128,924 Achievement.

Apart from that, as usual, I had gotten a new Skill for killing a monster with extinguish.

Endless Hunger of the Ocean has devoured Glacial Crawler for the first time. New Skill created.

Glacial Web - Spend mana to create a glacial web made of spider silk. This silk is unusually strong and can be manipulated via mana, and can also be strengthened with mana to make it harder to destroy. (Note: mana refers to the local world's 'mana,' which is created via a mixture of manifestation and binding essence. It does not refer to the mana, the primordial element of creation and origin of essence.)

I shrugged, and slotted the new ability in. I didn't have a use for it, but since the ability had no downside, I figured I might as well grab it. Maybe there would be some kind of niche scenario where I needed the ability before I replaced it with something else.

Right after I finished clearing out my System notifications, before I could redirect my attention back to the battlefield, I heard a crackling sound through the friendship bracelet. A moment later, I grinned as I heard Felix's voice appear in my mind.

<Hello? Any of the rest of you awake? I'm fully conscious again.>

I smiled. My first friend was awake.
