10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System

Chapter 55: The Start Of The Journey

The carriage rolled down the paved pathways of the Capital City as Aegon silently gazed back in the direction of Mooncrest Mansion.

He had noticed the minor argument between his Opa and Xiu, though he hadn't clearly heard what they were talking about. But he wasn't worried about them.

Both of them often had conflicting beliefs, so arguments between them weren't anything new. However, it never reached a point where they truly fought.

Even though Xiu was adopted, Arnold treated her as his own daughter, perhaps even more than that and Xiu respected him as her father in every sense.

So, Aegon knew things would resolve themselves soon enough. He had a feeling the disagreement was about him, and when it came to matters related to him, Xiu tended to get a bit reckless.

As long as she had enough time to cool down and think it through, she'd understand, and the argument would end naturally.

'Bye bye!' he muttered in his mind before finally looking away.

Through the window, he observed the lively streets of the capital and smiled faintly at the joyful atmosphere permeating through the city. Even though not everyone was a farmer, their lives had been affected by the previous tragedy. The new hope brought by the terrace farms had lifted everyone's spirits.

The carriage continued to move forward and only stopped once it reached the Royal Palace.

Before Aegon could even step out, the door suddenly swung open, a young man rushed inside and slammed it shut so hard that the entire carriage shook.

Aegon gave the huffing Xavier a weird look and asked, "What happened to you?"

Just as Xavier opened his mouth to reply, Aegon raised his hand and interrupted, "Never mind. Judging from your face, it's your usual useless drama. I'm not interested."

"I was gonna say I wanna punch your ass," Xavier said with a straight face, already used to Aegon's sarcastic tone.

"Then keep your kinks to yourself," Aegon snorted and looked away. "Jason, let's go. The dumbass has arrived."

"As you wish, Boss!"

Yes, the carriage driver was none other than Jason, disguised as an older man. He had insisted on taking this role to atone for his mistakes from the previous day.

Aegon also noticed the five beautiful white horses that pulled the carriage. They were majestic creatures, strong, sleek, and graceful. But the reason they were chosen wasn't just their beauty; their endurance and speed were unmatched.

"Why are we going the slow way again?" Xavier asked, noticing the horses. "We could've taken a much better carriage, brother."

"I want to see the world passing by," Aegon replied with a shrug, his gaze fixed on the scenery outside.

Slowly, the main city disappeared behind them. Soon, they would be outside the Capital, heading toward the wider world and just the thought made Aegon's heart race in excitement.

"Hm, it's your first time outside the city, huh," Xavier said. "I guess that's understandable. As your elder brother, I'll show you around the world."

Aegon gave him a disdainful side glance, as if silently asking whether he was even worthy of being called his elder brother. Then, he simply ignored him.

There were faster ways he could've reached the Academy, but he deliberately chose the slower route. This way, they could stop at several towns along the way, allowing him to observe, learn, and experience the outer world firsthand.

It might seem like a ridiculous goal to others, but for Aegon, it was all he wanted at the moment.

Soon, the carriage passed through the towering city gates and sped across the barren farmlands. The sun shone brightly above them, its warmth cutting through the cool breeze of early winter.

Winter was coming for Moonrise Kingdom.

When he was sure they were far from the capital, Aegon pressed a button on the side panel, making the roof of the carriage slide forward and disappear into the front section. The wooden walls also folded inward, lowering to half their original height.

As the crisp wind, the scent of grass, and the gentle warmth of sunlight surrounded them, Aegon burst into laughter and shouted, "This is so fun!"

Xavier watched him with amusement, shaking his head. 'I'll never understand his obsession with the outside world,' he thought. 'Whatever, as long as he's happy.'

Even he had to admit, it was quite refreshing to travel like this. The horses galloped through the forest path, the trees whispering in the wind, and the world around them seemed to come alive with every passing second.

"By the way, how did you even make this?" Xavier asked curiously.

"I didn't make it," Aegon said casually. "All I did was mention it to Xiu."

That single answer was enough for Xavier. He immediately understood everything.

As the carriage rolled deeper into the forest, the two of them continued chatting about random topics while enjoying the scenery.

Hours passed, and Aegon's excitement didn't fade even for a moment. He observed everything, from the distant mountains to the glimmering streams and his perfect memory recorded every sight.

He even saw things that defied the logic of Earth, which was to be expected but he was still surprised and mesmerized by the sights.

He wanted to jump off the carriage, ut he didn't. He knew he had to reach the Academy on time for the admission exams.

Xavier was already a student, so he had no deadlines. But Aegon didn't want to risk arriving late, so he resisted his urge to explore. Instead, he admired the view from afar and saved the experience for later.

They encountered a few wandering monsters on the road, but Jason took care of them effortlessly without even standing up from his seat. His calmness made Aegon smirk, the man was efficient in these cases.

Before long, the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and violet. Jason directed the carriage toward a nearby town they had chosen as their resting stop.

They could have continued through the night, but there was one problem, nights weren't safe for humans just as the day wasn't safe for demons.

The night belonged to the dark.

And Aegon, though curious, wasn't eager to experience those horrors so soon.

"Jason, can I see ghosts too?" Aegon asked, his tone filled with genuine curiosity.

"Hmm, I've seen them myself, so yes, they exist, Boss. But not in the way you imagine. We call them something else… Creatures of Darkness. And they're not the only ones. There are many that even makes me fear. That's why we need to stay in the light. Believe me, you don't want to meet them." Jason chuckled

'Creatures of Darkness, huh,' Aegon thought, a spark of intrigue flashing in his eyes. 'I wonder if I'll ever meet them.'

A wise sage once said:

"Never raise flags."

Aegon was about to learn how true those words were.
