Catching a Demon on day one? Now, that was certainly a news that interested everyone, especially after a full exhausting day of Academy.
Even Some of Third Years students gathered, along with many first and second year students.
Aegon slowly made his way forward, but a hand swiftly pulled him to the sides before he was thurst forward. As he already knew the identity of that arm, he kept his calm and focused on the site before him.
Standing in centre, two male First Year students glared at each other. One was full of smug look, while the other seemed extremely hurt.
'Something is off with his expression,' Aegon thought. "Wait! Isn't this the guy from morning?"
"Yup!" Rosa said, standing beside him while holding his hand which he didn't even notice. It certainly brought a smirk on her face.
"He's playing it all?" Aegon mumbled to himself.
The man being accused of being a Demon was the same student from morning who gave away clear hints of him being a demon.
'Nobody is stupid enough to fall for that. Well, atleast they won't report unless they have proof, so what does this Jhonny has? Also, why does Derrick seem so hurt?' Aegon wondered.
"You!! You're a traitor!" Derrick shouted at Johnny, pointing his finger at him.
"Call me whatever you want, but I will stand on humanity's side always." Johnny said proudly.
"We were best friends for years. How can you betray me like this?" Derrick spoke through his gritted teeth. "I trust you, Johnny."
"Then, it's a lesson for you to not trust people with your secret," Johnny shook his head and said. "You think Demons would tell humans about their identity? Grow up! Derrick! We are not kids anymore."
"I hate you!"
Rosa watched everything with intrest before asking, "What do you think?"
"He's not a demon," Aegon said, smiling. "He's pretty good of an actor. Perhaps, I should ask him for my entertainment industry."
"Did you see that with your eyes?" Rosa asked, leaning against him.
"I won't even ask how you know about my eyes," Aegon sighed. "But no, I didn't. It isn't needed for such trivial stuff."
"Alright then. I'll trust you, Future hubby, as a wife should."
Aegon was confused on her comment but only for a second as right before his eyes, Rosa pulled out a table from her storage ring and placed it before her.
Then, she clapped her hands and shouted, "What's the fun without gambling? Let's bet on if that guy is a demon or not. And let me tell you, the odds are good."
Aegon facepalmed, as he really didn't think she would open gambling table here. This was what it meant taking peak advantage of any situation.
Just as one would expect, people flocked towards the gambling den, especially if they were sure of winning. All students placed Merit points on Derrick being a demon while Rosa took notes of all of them.
Her grin was so wide Aegon was afraid it would split her face apart. She was really enjoying it the most.
'Not a single person thinks this is suspicious?' Aegon was speechless, but soon learned from his neighbouring students why everyone was so confident.
Apparently, Johnny and Derrick bad been childhood friends, growing up together their bond was strong. That's why Derrick told his secret to Johnny, only to later learn that he recorded everything in an a recording crystal.
'Recording crystals aren't cheap, so did this guy prepare for such a situation long before?' Aegon was certainly impressed.
Before long, the crowd went back to their spots as they discussed the situation amongst themselves.
Aegon stared at Rosa deeply and asked, "Can I bet?"
"Already want to share finances with me? Wow! That's a good move!" Rosa exclaimed lightly. "I like it!"
Aegon rolled his eyes and placed hundred merit points on Derrick not being a demon. Some noticed his action and sneered as if he was a fool.
'There goes my all merit points.'
The Academy gave a some merit points to all the newbies, though it mostly depended on one's rank. That was why Aegon's had lower merit points which mostly came because of the examinations.
"I'm going to be rich!!" Rosa's face was full of smile, as she counted all the merit points happily.
"You love gambling that much?" Aegon asked.
"When you have nothing to earn, illegal stuff like gambling comes in handy," Rosa smiled. "Oops! I gave away my information, hehe~"
Aegon couldn't help but laugh seeing her silly expression, but he also noted her words.
'So, she could be an orphan who grew up by herself. A true protagonist?'
Just then, instructor Han from the Knight Classes walked towards them, as all the students gave way for them. He stopped between Derrick and Johnny.
His eyes scanned both of them as he said, "Are you sure about this? A trail will definitely lead to heavy consequences."
"Yes, I'm sure of it, Sir!" Johnny spoke confidently. "I have proof."
"Alright then," Instructor Han said. "Student Johnny accused student Derrick of being a demon. I will judge this trail. Now, start the trial."
"Yes, sir!" Johnny stepped up and gave the recording device to Instructer Han. "Please check it's authenticity if you have doubt."
"Doubt or not, we will check it's authenticity nonetheless. Trails are fair," Instructor Han snorted before taking the device.
Then, he gave it to one of the assistants that followed him who the confirmed the authenticity of the recording device.
The one speaking in it were certainly Johnny and Derrick. The contents were also pretty simple, as Derrick himself admitted of being a demon in it.
Everyone gave heated gazes to Rosa, as they were hungry for the merit points more than they cared about Derrick.
"Do you have anything to say in defence, Derrick?" Instructor Han asked, giving a side glance to the defeated Derrick.
Derrick had already fallen in his knees, his face looking down at the ground. On his question, he finally looked up and said, smiling as if he wasn't crying a few moments again.
That single smile chilled Johnny's heart.
"I demand a trial through Supreme Artefact. Let it judge my identity."
