Reborn As An SSS-Ranked Assassin Armed With Modern Weapons

Chapter 58: Destiny Weaving Fate(1)

Jessie had lost consciousness just before the blast, and because of that, she failed to escape the impact.

Her shield activated just as the shockwave approached. For the first time, it reacted visibly—fissures spreading across its surface—before it began healing itself.

Though the damage was blocked, the momentum from the blast sent her flying backward through the air.

Ash ignored his system screen and rushed to her side. He had resistance to poison, but for her, it was a different case. The earlier poison attacks had already slowed her movements, dulling her body's reactions. Now, she lay twitching on the ground, her vitality slipping away.

She was unconscious, her breathing shallow and fading. No one understood poison better than Ash—he had both killed and survived through it. It was the most silent and efficient death imaginable when used correctly. By the time one realized they were dying, it was already too late.

He drew his short blade and made a small cut on his thumb.

His blood was an antidote to many poisons, according to his new class trait, Walking Antidote.

He gently pried Jessie's jaw open and let drops of his blood fall into her mouth. The scene looked bizarre—like a vampire, as if he were converting her into one of his own.

That thought lingered in his mind. In a way, wasn't this a form of cannibalism? He was feeding another person his own blood.

Ash shook his head, forcing the thought aside. He didn't know how much blood was required, and he wasn't going to take chances—the more, the better.

He moved her jaw up and down, closing her nostrils to ensure the blood didn't enter her windpipe.

Finally, after some time, her hands twitched. Her eyes fluttered open.

Ash exhaled in relief. He had no idea what he would've told her family—or how he would've lived with himself—if she had died.

He had never been expressive, but at that moment, he wanted to hug her. Still, he restrained the urge.

Jessie's gaze drifted weakly until her eyes met his.

"Ash…" she barely whispered, her voice trembling. Her body was still frail from the poison's toll.

She was out of danger—at least for now. Ash wasted no time lifting her onto his back.

There was a faint smile on her lips, but her body remained limp—too weak to respond.

Ash kept his head forward, determined. He needed to get her out of the dungeon immediately. Her family surely had a B-rank or even an A-rank healer who could stabilize her properly.

As he ran toward the dungeon gate—about five hundred meters away—his instincts screamed. It wasn't a warning of danger, but something else entirely.

Jessie also felt it—her unique title stirring, weaving the threads of fate itself. She didn't understand what was happening. Was the title trying to save her by altering destiny, or was it preparing the fate that was about to unfold?

There had been only rare moments when she felt her title work so deeply. It had no description, no defined ability, only flashes like this that hinted at its true nature.

She tried to focus on the sensation, but pain flared in her head—either because she wasn't allowed to perceive it, or because the poison had drained her too much.

Still, one thing was certain: fate had twisted itself to save her. It was almost poetic that Ash had acquired a poison-type class capable of turning his blood into an antidote—and here they were, fighting poison-based beasts.

Destiny was truly bent, weaving her survival from the jaws of death.

Ash, however, didn't notice. He was too focused on escaping. The space around the dungeon was collapsing, forming fissures that stretched into unknown voids. The darkness within them was deeper than the void itself—cold, devouring, endless.

The dungeon's structure began disintegrating. The sand, the scorpion remains, even the beast cores—all vanished into nothingness. The world around him was folding inward, closing like walls made of dissolving space.

Ash sensed the movement but dismissed it, assuming it was just a surviving scorpion. His focus was on getting Jessie out.

But just as he was about to step through the dungeon gate, the space imploded completely—dragging him and Jessie into a collapsing rift.

Outside the dungeon, members of the Kael family waited—some preparing to enter, others waiting for their comrades to return. Among them stood Samantha. She was eager for another battle with B-rank beasts and try her newly learned battle style to put in use.

In the meantime she was also waiting for Ash—and Jessie to come out. she had promised him a gift, and she wanted to learn from him again.

When she heard that only the two of them had entered the D-rank dungeon, she grew uneasy. She knew Jessie's strength, her rare title, and her B-rank armor. With that combination, it was nearly impossible for her to fall in a mere D-rank raid.

Even so, a mother's heart never rests. There were always threats—monsters with mind-hex abilities or curses that could bypass physical shields.

She felt slightly reassured knowing Ash was with her daughter. His combat strength far exceeded that of a typical level 11 ranker.

Then, the atmosphere changed. The dungeon they had entered began expanding—rapidly. Its boundaries rippled, distorting the surrounding dungeons. The ground trembled, mana pressure spiking.

Everyone froze in shock. This had never happened before.

The expansion continued, forcing the crowd to retreat.

Samantha stared, her face pale, her hands trembling in fear—the fear of losing her daughter.

"Jessie!" she screamed, charging toward the dungeon. But an invisible barrier stopped her, halting her momentum.

She struck the unseen wall with all her might.

"Take this barrier down!" she roared, her aura flaring violently. Rage and panic overtook reason—her berserk state activated.

Her punch hit the barrier with thunderous force, making it quake.

"Samantha, stop!" shouted Jessie's grandfather.

But Samantha didn't listen. The old man's expression twisted in disbelief. Despite being two ranks above her, his barrier couldn't withstand her wrath. The invisible wall shook under her relentless blows.

All the important figures of the Kael family rushed out, readying themselves for whatever was coming.

The family head tried everything to stabilize the expanding dungeon—using crystals, seals, and control runes—but nothing worked.

Finally, he made his decision. He would enter the dungeon himself.

But just as he rushed forward, the dungeon collapsed completely—shrinking, twisting, and vanishing into nothingness.

The barrier shattered under Samantha's final strike, but there was no dungeon left to enter.

No gate. No trace. Not even a ripple in space.
