With the incident of the Impure infiltrating the academy entrance examination, things progressed swiftly. One would have expected that perhaps, the academy would stop the test but no, the test continued like normal, the dead bodies were retrieved from the Silent Groves and towards the end of the sixth day, students started climbing the mountain.
If it was not for the unfortunate event that happened to Kage and his group, certainly they would've been the first set of examinees to climb the mountain and reach the academy gate.
But they were unconscious and healing in the Academy's Infirmary situated in the College of Healing arts.
However, it didn't just end there. This was in fact the very beginning. A thorough investigation was immediately carried out by the Adamant Disciplinary Committee in collision with the student government—the Harmony Council.
This led them to discover that some students and instructors had been bribed to turn a blind eye while the Impure was sneaked into the Silent Grove. And they had intentionally selected the Silent Grove of course because of the nature of the place.
A day later, it was discovered that the people responsible for this act were Hai Chen and Bai Shen Ironstorm.
This discovery brought an intense friction to the investigation and the general nature of this situation.
When it concerned the great clan, things had to be taken with careful measure, because there were clans that could single handedly wreck havoc in the world. Much more the Ironstorm clan.
A worldwidely acknowledged clan as one of the strongest. But it wasn't just that simple. Because this truth insinuated that this was some sort of internal dispute brought to the academy ground.
It became difficult for even the Triumvirate to dish out judgment and thus, they had to send a report to the Stormbreak citadel, reporting the misdeed of the Ironstorm twin to the patriarch.
On the evening of the seventh day, Kage's eyes finally opened.
What he first saw was the white and luminous ceiling and an unpleasant smell of good health and different herbs. His entire body suddenly ached like he was being battered by different canes all over his body.
He shifted but standing was even more difficult.
"You should try not to move too much."
Kage shifted his eyeballs as he heard the laid-back gruff feminine voice.
"It's a miracle you managed to live, your body was practically broken all over." She pulled out a flat panel showing him a scan of his bones and explaining while gesturing over it. "You see these marks all over your bones. Your entire bone, especially your arms and legs, practically cracked from different angles."
She placed the flat panel down and crossed her leg, as she sat beside Kage.
"You will need to stay here and recover for the next fifteen days before you can even try to work. The purpose of all the bandages is to help your body realign so your bones can come together."
Kage sighed and looked at the luminous ceiling, even sighing gave him a subtle pain inside his chest, but he ignored it.
His entire body, down to his face and lower body was wrapped with white bandage, only his eyes, and mouth were not totally wrapped.
Kage winced in pain slightly as he forced himself to speak.
"Did… I… get… in?"
The lady leaned in to hear him.
"Oh!" She was surprised,
'With all the pain he must be going through, that's what he cares about?'
She answered.
"Well, as far as I can tell you are in the College of Healing Arts, I might not be able to say fully in. But it'd take stupidness for anyone to fail you after this incident."
Kage looked away from her and chuckled internally.
'What a peculiar response. I wonder how the others are doing…'
[The Wolf of the North says they are doing alright and that you should thank him, for deciding to help you]
Kage finally remembered the moment where it all went down and how. As he did, his brows furrowed but even that caused some sharp muscle pain on his face.
'You! What did you do? How?'
[The Heretic Inquisitor of Eternal Truth exhales exasperatedly and says that the Sovereigns apparently can take over your body]
As Kage heard this, everything about his demeanor changed. He was too inconsequential at the moment to darken the atmosphere of his environment but if the lady sitting opposite him busy with other things had paid attention to his face, she would have been spooked.
'The Sovereign gods can do that?'
[The Heretic Inquisitor of Eternal Truth nods and says, they can. He explains that there is a clause and you don't have to worry about them stealing your body and committing atrocities]
The news did not settle the mildly enraged Kage. Even though he was weakened, he valued supremacy over his own body in any form, shape and size.
Lust? He hated lust because it seductively convinced one to waste their precious time, its methods were malicious and uncomfortable, turning his own body and mind against him.
The anger and displeasure he had towards lust and whatever source it took, was the same kind he was having upon discovering that the Sovereign gods could use his body was terrifying.
It had its advantages and disadvantages but that didn't matter. What mattered more was that he didn't like it at all. It was like a hole, a little hole in a perfect room. A hole of variable that might not be within his control.
But there was also nothing he could presently do about it.
'I should focus more on finding the worm. Oh and Elder Wolf, don't you go thinking you've used out of the debts you owe me. I never asked you for this. It was all you, so thank you. But don't ever do such to me again. And see what you did to my body, you call this helping me?'
[The Wolf of the North's mouth falls, hanging wide open in disbelief. He says that he had known for a while that you are an incredibly disrespectful, and vile child but he never thought you'd be ungrateful and so greedy. He claims to have helped you in good heart, so you can be able to take care of Bei, and says he wasn't thinking about it like that]
'What you did was disrupt my plans. I had it all under control.. It was all perfect.'
[The Wolf of the North is speechless at your level of ungratefulness]
[The Heretic Inquisitor of Eternal Truth allows a disarming smile and asks tenderly if you knew about it]
'Knew about what?'
[He asks if you knew about the Impure attack? He asks, if the reason you stole those scrolls and led the students to the edge of the Silent Grove was so that they could be caught up in it]
Kage suppressed a chuckle, because he didn't want to deal with another pain.
'And why would you conclude that I'd do that?'
[The Heretic Inquisitor of Eternal Truth says that part is also baffling. He says but it'll make sense if the Impure incidence is not a coincidence and was planned and that you know something about it or at least expected it to happen. This was why you stole from the students, and just gave them their scrolls making it look like you intended to teach them a lesson but also intended well for them…]
[He calls it a pretense and that your true intention is to use them as stakes]
Kage was silent as the Heretic Inquisitor continued to explain.
[He says that stakes would be needed if you suspect the perpetrators already. You needed people to die so that the perpetrators wouldn't be able to go unpunished with this one]
[The Heretic Inquisitor of Eternal Truth shakes their head and says with pitiful tone that the poor souls that died and were injured would not even know that they were led to their death. He calls this even more terrifying because you gave them the option to leave but they still chose to follow you. And you very much knew all of this and how it was going to pan out]
Kage was still silent, looking up at the white ceiling.
[The Wolf of the North listens to this conversation and is terrified of you. He says, so if he hadn't stepped in, that there was a possibility that you would have allowed your friends to die?]
Kage exhaled.
'I have no friends.'
[The Wolf of the North is infuriated at your statement]
[The Heretic Inquisitor of Eternal Truth cuts in and says he is curious about something. He says that you were completely powerless against this creature, and definitely didn't know that Wolf of the North could do what he did. He asks how exactly were you planning to make it out of this situation alive without gaining the suspicion of the people around you and the academy authorities?]
If Kage could move his hand, he would cover his face right now and just laugh unbelievably. Because never in his life had he seen someone read his actions so deeply and unearth his intention so simply.
