The cocoon cracked and streams of fire slipped through the cracks like snakes. The fire filled the entire cocoon, burning Ved who was curled inside.
Fortunately his scales were too tough for such small flames to pose any real threat to him. The cocoon shot down to the ocean below.
And continued dropping until it crashed on the ocean floor. A powerful shockwave blasted out and pushed the water away.
A massive crater was formed around the cocoon then the sea water came crashing back, filling the crater and then seeped inside the cocoon drowning out the flames.
Ved busted out of the cocoon and looked at the flame giant standing in the air above him. He knew fighting that thing head on was just asking for a beating.
Instead he swam close to the ocean floor, making sure to try and hide his aura as much as he could, fortunately this guy was underestimating him.
Ved didn't even feel his soul sense tracking him. Probably thinking he was not worth that trouble, while this angered Ved and made his blood boil he was also grateful. It was because of it that he could safely sneak towards the ships.
He wanted to destroy as many ships as he possible, even if he couldn't defeat the Vermilion guy, he wanted to make sure he thought twice before coming back here.
However he was still discovered. Dozens of different attacks came flying at him but none of them could pose a threat to him.
However they still gave up his position to Vermillion. Ved dodged and jumped forward, a flame arrow cut through the water and hit exactly where he was standing prior, it left a thin deep hole on the ocean floor.
Ved sped up, his giant body cutting through the water like a torpedo. He started swimming around the fleet, the water starting spinning and twisting wherever he passed.
While doing so he also created dense balls of wax and shot them at the ships like cannons but they were easily blocked.
The water kept exploding around him from Vermillions attacks but he managed to dodge all of them.
The spinning water formed a giant vortex around the entire fleet, the ships started moving on the own as the water twisted beneath them.
Engines roared and the ships started moving away from the vortex. Ved knew he couldn't allow that, so he created giant ropes of web and used them to entangle and bind the ships together.
He knew this couldn't hold for long but he didn't need it to. Then something crashed next to him sending giant waves everywhere, the sea boiled and mist covered the entire ocean around them for tens of kilometres.
While he wished he could use the mist as cover he knew he couldn't. While it could block eyesight it was useless against soul sense.
Since Vermillion had already locked on him, it was impossible to hide from him now, infact it was almost impossible to hide anything he did.
So Ved did the only thing he could, he turned and fired a bolt of lightning at the flame giant that just landed behind him.
The flame giant failed to react in time and the lightning bolt hit it face, since it had just crashed, it easily lost it balance, it body tilted backwards and crashed on the sea, evaporating tons of water.
But it was not over, it did not take long for the flame giant to stand back up but it body was smaller, the sea had shaved a large portion of it off.
It roared and tried to stomp Ved, he flapped his wings and flew out of the sea. His body continued rising until he was right below the first layer of clouds 40 kilometres up.
He turned and looked down at everybody below. He was starting to run a bit low on stamina but Vermillion still looked fresh and relaxed.
His hands behind his back as he looked up at Ved like he was an insect. This pissed him off but he managed to calm himself down before he foolishly lunged at Vermilion.
The sea vortex grew larger even without Ved feeding it. Ved expected the people on the ships to break his ropes without much effort but it seemed he gave them too much credit.
Even at only a quarter of it strength it was still harder than the hides of some rank 4 beasts. If it were strings then it might've been easier but the thick ropes were too much for them.
The ships were pulled together towards the centre of the vortex. Vermillion just glared at them then turned his attention towards him.
5 giant birds of fire appeared around him, each with a wingspan of over 40 metres. Vermillion also blasted a wave of fire at the flame giant.
It grew back to it original size and grew two giant wings on it back. Ved knew things were getting serious now.
His soul force covered his body and his aura grew. Lightning arcs danced on his wings and he dropped down like a bolt of lightning.
Thunder roared behind him and lightning flashed on the dark clouds. The fire birds flew up to meet him.
The collision blasted a wave of fire and lightning, he shot a nuclear blast to the bird's head and blew it to pieces.
Before he could celebrate, a giant claw of another bird landed on his right side, the heat burnt through his soul force and shattered his scales, he felt his ribs crack.
Fortunately the wounds healed rapidly, he created web strings to bind the birds but those strings turned to ash the moment they touch them.
Two more birds flanked his left and back. He swung his hands and tail to block and his scales cracked, the heat ignored his scales and he felt like he was locked in an oven.
Each of their attacks carried too much strength. Individually, the birds were as strong as he was even with his soul force which was depressing.
This Vermillion guy seemed to be much stronger than Ved initially expected. Ved prided himself in being very powerful for his rank and grade but he realised there were even more monsters out there.
Even if his avatar could only use a quarter of his full strength, the difference seemed to be a bit too much.
While Ved was struggling against his creations, Vermillion continued watching him without a change in expression.
Then the flame giant arrived, it power overshadowed that of the birds by far. It clasped it hand together and dropped them on him like a hammer.
It speed was too high for something that large. Ved couldn't dodge even if he wanted to, not with the birds holding him back.
He created dozens of huge fists using wax and punched the birds, it took longer to melt the wax than it did the softer web so he managed to hit the birds and push them back but it was too late.
He created a giant shield using wax but the double axe fists shattered the shield like it was glass and landed on his back.
His soul force managed to reduce most of the force and heat but it was not enough. The fists landed and his spine shattered on impact.
He coughed up a mouthful of blood and his body flew down to the sea like a comet. However while falling he looked at Vermillion and grinned.
The wax balls he shot at the ships had been moved and gathered together by the vortex and they were directly below the ships.
A blue light filled the sea, they all realised it but it was too late, his will transmission reached Vermillion and it was a single word, ' Boom', then BOOOOM.
