Next morning.
Amon was stretching his arms and doing some warm-up exercises to check if his body felt sore anywhere.
"Damn! I'm perfectly okay. Rather, I feel stronger now," Amon said quietly to himself.
He was currently in the same room, wearing a white robe provided by the temple.
After finishing his stretches, he realized he could move and walk without any problem—just as Bishop Jonathan had told him.
"Hehehe~ I should check my status window." Just when he was about to check his stats, Selena came inside the room.
"Good to see you're doing fine." Her voice was soft as her eyes observed the young man.
Amon suddenly turned his head in her direction.
She was wearing a white shirt, tucking its ends inside black tight trousers.
Even though the clothes were plain, they didn't make her any less beautiful. In fact, she still looked more gorgeous.
Her long silver hair was tied in a high ponytail. The long shirt sleeves were folded up over her forearms.
There was a bag in one hand and breakfast in the other.
Amon's face contorted at the sight of the food.
It was soup made up of weird health herbs—too bland and tasteless.
'Not again!' he thought.
Last night, Selena had woken him up for dinner, though it didn't really look like one.
The food was porridge, made by the priests who came along with the Bishop.
He really felt wronged last night. Bread and normal soup tasted much better than this healthy stuff.
Still, he had no choice but to eat it.
It was a good thing that he only needed to eat a small amount since his stomach had been empty for two whole days.
"There are clothes in this bag. Change into them and then eat this," she said casually, like it wasn't a big deal.
"Hah… okay… but did you have breakfast?" Amon asked with narrowed eyes.
When he woke up this morning, Selena wasn't on her resting bed.
He assumed she had gone to change, since they were returning to the academy today—but something felt fishy. Why only one plate of food?
"Where's yours, Senior?" he asked suspiciously.
Selena's expressionless face crumbled a little. Her eyes twitched, but she instantly masked it.
"Oh… I had breakfast after I got freshened up. You should go and get fresh and change into this outfit." She handed the bag to Amon and placed the plate with the bowl of soup on the nearby table.
Amon looked inside the bag. There was a pair of men's black trousers and a long-sleeve beige t-shirt.
He looked up at her and smiled.
"Who are you lying to, Senior~? I know you didn't have breakfast~" Amon said teasingly.
He had seen how she ate her dinner before. She had a funny expression back then, complaining that eating this kind of thing once or twice was fine but three days in a row? No way.
"What? You think I'm lying? Listen, Junior, I already had my fill," Selena retorted. She wasn't going to admit it.
Just when Amon was about to reply, a young nun came knocking on the wooden door.
She held a plate in her hands, a bowl of soup on it. She politely said,
"I brought your breakfast, Brother Amon."
Both Selena and Amon looked in her direction.
Amon blinked a few times before realization hit him.
Selena's expression crumbled and turned pale.
Amon stepped forward and took the plate from the nun.
"Thank you, Sister Vera," he said politely as she left.
Then his mischievous eyes fell on Selena, a big smile spreading on his face.
"Well~ well~ Senior~ so I was right after all. Trying to use me to avoid your fill?" Amon's voice was playful.
He had never thought he'd talk to Senior Selena like this. The first time he saw her, he had felt nothing but fear—the cold and ruthless student council president.
But now, he felt closer to her.
Selena held her head high, her red eyes meeting Amon's dark ones.
"You… you really have grown guts, to talk to me like this. So brazenly." She tried to sound cold, but the tips of her ears were pink.
"How can I do that, Senior? I'm just merely telling the truth." Amon was clearly enjoying her cute reaction.
This time, Selena changed her strategy.
Her lips curved into a wicked smile.
"Just you wait… once we go back to the academy, I'll deduct your credits."
As soon as she said that, Amon's jaw dropped open.
'How-how can she say something like that? This is clearly a misuse of one's authority!' His mind was a mess.
Though he had earned two hundred credits as a reward, he still had minus forty from before.
"Wait! Senior, you can't use your position like that! That's injustice! It's wrong! I won't accept it!" Amon protested.
He was a rightful man. He didn't accept injustice. Believe him.
"I'm the student council president. Not only that, I'm also a princess. I have enough power to do that. Also, the strong are right. You got it, commoner~." Selena said with a cold, prideful expression—but there was a hint of mischief in her tone.
Amon's face turned ugly at her words. She was painfully right.
He changed his expression to serious.
"I'll accept my defeat for now, Senior. Since it's true—the powerful are right, and the weak are wrong. But remember… in the end, you still need to eat your breakfast~."
His tone turned teasing at the end. He dashed out of the room with the bag, leaving Selena standing there with wide eyes.
The conversation had somehow taken a weird turn. She had won the argument—or was there even an argument?
Still, it was true that she needed to eat that soup.
Her eyes fell on it.
"Arrggh!" she groaned unpleasantly.
---
Amon was ready, wearing the black trousers and beige long-sleeve t-shirt. His short black hair was, as always, messy.
Selena stood beside him with a cold face.
Bishop Jonathan arrived after a while. "It seems you are both ready to depart."
They were at the entrance of Mistvale Town—the silent town.
"Yes, we are. Thank you for everything. Are you going to stay here longer?" Selena asked curiously.
The Bishop replied softly, "There are a lot of strange things that happened here. It will take more time to find the truth behind it. Also, taking care of so many bodies is no easy task."
Amon and Selena nodded in understanding.
Beep! Beep!
A black mana car came from the street leading out of the town.
It was a vintage car.
"Oh, it seems your ride has arrived," Bishop Jonathan said with a smile.
Amon and Selena got into the back seat of the car.
"Thank you, Bishop Jonathan. We're grateful to you," Amon expressed his gratitude one last time.
"See you next time, Bishop Jonathan," Selena added.
The kind man smiled at them. "Hope your journey back to Arcadia Academy will be safe. May the Light Goddess bless you."
The driver twisted key in the ignition.
The mana engined made a purr sound as the car started to vibrate a little. It started to move.
And thus, the car started its journey back to the academy.
