Chapter 134: Divide and Conquer (Part 2)

"Feigning an attack on the enemy's homeland is indeed a chance to shake off their surveillance.

At that time, we can reasonably divide our forces and seize the opportunity to disappear from the enemy's sight.

However, the risks involved are equally enormous.

Firstly, the crisis at the rear of our tribes has not been concealed or eliminated.

With the enemy's level of sweeping, I fear that over ninety percent of our major tribes will not escape their clutches.

Even if we scatter and hide, preserving the main army, we won't have much of a future after the war.

In the absence of a decisive battle with the enemy, the only way to preserve the vitality of our species is for the tribes at the rear to disband and disperse.

On the vast grasslands, countless major tribes with tens of thousands of people may be hidden, but small tribes with hundreds of people are very easy to conceal.

Even if the enemy discovers them, they must weigh whether a long expedition to catch us is worthwhile.

Once broken up into smaller tribes, as long as our luck isn't too bad and we don't happen upon the enemy's main force, there shouldn't be much problem."

The Silver Moon Wolf Emperor cautiously proposed.

The tactic of disbandment is something he learned from the wolves.

When gathered together, the pack of wolves commands authority everywhere; scattered as lone wolves, they remain hunting experts.

When the enemy gathers, the wolves find places to lie low; if the enemy splits up, they seize the chance to counterattack.

Defeating the enemy is hopeless, but disrupting them and dragging them down is not difficult.

Instantly, silence fell over the tent, and the orc high levels began to ponder.

The plan seems feasible, but how effective it will be remains uncertain in everyone's hearts.

Disbanding is very simple, requiring just one order to complete.

But reassembling the forces afterward won't be easy.

The functioning system of the Orc Empire is essentially a grassroots setup, with very limited constraints on the tribes below.

Once dispersed, those below may savor the taste of power, and regrouping in the future will inevitably be problematic.

If these were the only issues, everyone could grudgingly accept it.

The trouble is the internal conflicts within the Orc Empire, where large tribes bully smaller ones, strong races bully weaker ones, which is a common social norm.

Once disbanded, the power of various factions would be infinitely closer.

Without the constraints of the Empire's high levels, if enemies meet, a drama of vengeance is highly probable.

Expecting dispersed tribes to unite against the human race, the major enemy, is highly impractical.

The higher-ups understand the bigger picture, but the illiterate orcs below do not know what it is.

Discussing the Empire's situation with them is less effective than planning what to eat tomorrow to stir their emotions.

The risks and rewards are proportional; once the plot succeeds, the rewards will be extremely rich.

By then, the Alpha Kingdom Army will find itself surrounded by a sea of orcs.

The grasslands will be a massive war quagmire, tightly binding the enemy's main forces.

Unassuming local battles will become bloodletting that gradually weakens the enemy's strength.

"Let's give it a shot!

If we don't act this way, we have no better option.

Without the constraints of the main army, the Sanctuary Powerhouses within the tribes can also be liberated to seize opportunities to strike at the enemy's small forces."

The Hawkman Emperor was the first to express agreement.

While it's difficult for other species to reassemble after divisional maneuvers, they are an exception.

Wings aren't just for show; if needed, they can definitely gather quickly.

Even in danger, the Hawkman's ability to escape is superior to other tribes.

Such flying talent is innate and unlearnable.

After a brief silence, the orc high levels nodded in agreement.

Dispersing the forces may not guarantee much trouble for the enemy, but it can at least prevent the calamity of genocide.

...

Having just annihilated an Orc major tribe, Hudson was enjoying the last bonfire feast.

A thick layer of "fertilizer" covered the ground; next year the new grass growing here will surely be tender and delicious, perfect for grazing cattle and sheep.

"Marshal, we just received news.

The leader of the orc tribes ahead suddenly divided their assets and fled in different directions.

The main forces of the Orc Army also have new movements; they have abandoned their siege of the Northern Route Army and are advancing westward, possibly planning to attack our rear."

Count Guren reported with a confused expression.

The enemy's actions had refreshed his understanding.

Throughout the entire war history of the Continent of Aslante, such explosive operations were rarely seen.

Scattering and fleeing is understandable.

Traveling with all tribe members, the large group acts as the most distinctive indicator.

Their escape speed can't surpass cavalry, making their annihilation merely a matter of time.

Fleeing in different directions ensures that as long as fortune isn't too unkind, some will survive.

Once the seeds remain, the tribal heritage is preserved.

Yet the actions of the Orc Army's main forces seem self-destructive and completely illogical.

"This is troublesome!"

"If the subordinate orc tribes follow suit, achieving our expected goals will become difficult.

Order the troops to speed up their actions; annihilate as many tribes as possible.

Notify the rear guards to be watchful against the enemies' desperation."

Hudson ordered with a frown.

The warfare between the two nations had lasted for countless years, with times when both sides held the upper hand.

Unable to completely annihilate the enemy, the main reason was the inability to eliminate the enemy's living forces.

If not thoroughly wiped out, after several decades, the enemy would revive completely.

Adhering to a once-and-for-all principle, the core theme of this great war is one word—kill!

How much land is taken or how many achievements achieved is unimportant; the key is to reduce the number of orcs.

No one knows the exact population of the Orc Empire, except that it's a big number.

Even after repeated bloodletting, the present number of orcs remains extraordinarily large.

Hudson lacks confidence in taming so many orcs, and Alpha Kingdom's unique situation doesn't allow for many to survive.

In pursuit of lasting peace, the kingdom's high levels decide to use the simplest and most brutal method—physical extermination.

The opening was very successful; within less than a month of war's eruption, millions of orcs had fallen victim to the blade.

If this killing pace continued, eventually there wouldn't be any more orcs.

Regrettably, the enemy suddenly ceased to cooperate.

When dispersed, their previously conspicuous targets suddenly became minuscule.

"Marshal, how about we also split our forces?"

Count Guren tentatively suggested.

As the dominant side, even with dispersed forces, he retained confidence in defeating the enemy.

Having slain a large number of orcs, the Kingdom Army's combat strength did not weaken but rose.

Once considered a third-line army, the serf soldiers rapidly transformed after a series of battles.

The third-line army became a second-line army, marking a qualitative breakthrough.

Compared to pre-deployment, the overall combat effectiveness had increased by at least thirty percent.

"No need to rush initially; let's discuss splitting forces when the Orc main army also disbands.

Finding orcs on the grasslands isn't our expertise, and solely relying on air force for information doesn't cover everything.

Order all units to start accepting orc surrenders.

Only requiring them to kill three of their own species or ten of another orc, and they'd be granted servant army status.

Each unit should devise a reward and punishment mechanism for the servant army according to actual conditions.

Inform the surrendering orcs that with a good fight, pastures, cattle, sheep, and female orcs will all be theirs!"

Hudson said with a smile.

"Deploying beasts against beasts" wasn't a new tactic.

Historically, the kingdom had tried once to unite oppressed orcs against the orc empire's rule.

The policy didn't continue, proving the plan ended in failure.

Now the situation was different, with the kingdom having the upper hand. The previous cooperation transformed into direct servant armies.

Among so many orcs, some are bound to fear death enough to comply.
