Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 744: Terrifyingly Cold

Ling Zhenfei said, "It would be strange if those two didn't start fighting. This place isn't safe to stay for long, we need to leave immediately."

"Yeah, these people have all gone mad. I don't want to stay here any longer; who knows what might happen."

"Let's go!"

Although he had changed his clothes, Ling Zhenfei was somewhat dumbfounded. Phoenix was indeed beautiful, but she was just too cold, terrifyingly cold.

However, after changing into these clothes, she seemed not so cold anymore, yet even more different.

"What are you looking at? Let's hurry up and go."

The two of them exited the room only to see that outside had turned into a battlefield; the gunfire had stopped, but the Northern Spiritual Energy was swirling chaotically. Mo Long's men had actually started fighting with Qu Changsheng's men.

Ling Zhenfei knew this place was done for; even without government intervention, this place would end up deserted.

With Wu Yingxiong gone, all these problems were easily resolved. These people had only united because of Wu Yingxiong; without him, they became disorganized.

After thinking for a moment, Ling Zhenfei stopped in his tracks, "Wait a second, there's one more thing I need to do."

Phoenix was stunned, not knowing what Ling Zhenfei was planning, only to see him walk into one of the caves.

Inside were countless women imprisoned. Ling Zhenfei directly opened the main gate and told them Wu Yingxiong was dead, and they could leave on their own if it was safe.

The girls inside cheered jubilantly, but that was no longer Ling Zhenfei's concern; his mission was complete.

Ling Zhenfei and Phoenix walked out together. The entire cave was in ruins, the once luxuriously decorated place was now filled with bullet holes, dead bodies, and scattered riches.

It was like a battlefield, with the smell of gunpowder pervasive, and corpses everywhere.

The two carefully walked out of the cave. By then, the sky had begun to lighten, and a night's heavy snow had accumulated a thick layer.

Walking through the snow, they made their way back. They chatted along the way and reached the car, then drove straight to the city center.

The car stopped at a crossroads in the Financial Center. "Alright, let's part ways here. I need to report back to headquarters immediately," Phoenix told Ling Zhenfei.

"Didn't you already report over the phone just now?" Ling Zhenfei asked, puzzled.

"I reported over the phone, but I have to write a written report when I get back. It's not as easy for me as it is for you, not having to do anything."

Ling Zhenfei was taken aback, "What do you mean by 'not having to do anything'? Didn't I work hard?"

"That, I wouldn't know." Phoenix got out of the car, closed the door, and then waved before walking away.

After walking about ten meters, Phoenix suddenly turned around and said to Ling Zhenfei, "By the way, I owe you for this time. I will repay you someday."

With that, she turned and left without looking back.

Ling Zhenfei of course knew what Phoenix meant; in the cave, Ling Zhenfei had saved Phoenix more than once.

Driving, Ling Zhenfei arrived at the People's Hospital, where Han Lian had just woken up. By then, Han Lian was much better.

Ling Zhenfei prescribed new medication for Han Lian. Han Yunfeng told Ling Zhenfei that he planned to take Han Lian home for recovery, as constantly being in the hospital was not a solution.

Ling Zhenfei agreed, prepared to be discharged and return home the next day for recovery.

Because Han Lian's situation was quite special, someone was specifically responsible for it, they approved Han Lian's application to return home for recovery, and then arranged for a limousine to take her back.

Since Han Lian's injuries did not permit her to travel by plane, Ling Zhenfei did not accompany her, but prepared to fly back to Binyang the next day.

At the hospital entrance, after sending off Han Lian and seeing her recovery progress so well, Ling Zhenfei felt much more relaxed inside. He realized he had been out for quite a while, and it was indeed time to return to Binyang.

Now there must be some new developments at Xishan Manor, no clue what it turned into.

Lu Meng, noticing Ling Zhenfei seemed a bit tired, found him a vacant hospital room so that Ling Zhenfei could rest properly.

Lu Meng, this young nurse, was extremely competent and caring, truly a good nurse.

Ling Zhenfei certainly appreciated her kindness, and so he decided to sleep well on the hospital bed.

He was awakened by the sound of his phone's ringtone. Ling Zhenfei got up and checked his phone, only to see that it was Ji Mei calling.

Ling Zhenfei answered the phone, and Ji Mei's voice came through, "Divine Doctor Ling, what are you doing?"

Ji Mei's voice was very gentle, and it felt very different.

Ling Zhenfei laughed, "What else could I be doing, of course, I'm resting well."

Ji Mei also laughed. Ling Zhenfei was unsure why Ji Mei had called him, but they just chatted casually, and Ji Mei was very grateful for the elixir Ling Zhenfei had given her.

"By the way, Divine Doctor Ling, when are you leaving? Make sure to let me know, I'll come to see you off."

Suddenly remembering that he was leaving tomorrow, Ling Zhenfei realized he hadn't yet told Ji Mei, and it felt only right to inform someone he had gotten to know.

"I'm catching a flight tomorrow morning; I forgot to tell you. No need for a send-off, I'm not a kid anymore."

"You're leaving tomorrow morning, isn't that a bit hasty?" Ji Mei expressed quite a surprise.

Ling Zhenfei said somewhat surprised, "Not really, I'm not in a hurry, I've been out for so many days, everything is handled, and I still have a lot of things to do in Binyang."

"Oh, is that so? Could I invite you for dinner tonight then?" Ji Mei pondered and then said.

"Of course, but how about I treat you instead? It wouldn't be right to let you pay for the meal," Ling Zhenfei insisted, noting that Ji Mei was a girl after all.

Ji Mei laughed, "I didn't expect you to be such a gentleman. Even though you are, I still can't let you pay because when you come to the Northeast, you're basically entering my turf, and I should extend the host's courtesy."

Ling Zhenfei laughed, "Alright, if that's the case, then let it be your treat, and when you come to Binyang, I'll extend my host's courtesy as well."

Ji Mei laughed happily but still said somewhat shyly, "Alright then, I'll arrange it, but I can't guarantee that the food I treat you to will be as delicious as what you cook."

Ji Mei paused, as if recalling the dishes Ling Zhenfei had cooked for her that day at the Hilton Hotel.

"To be honest with you, I really love the food you make, it's honestly the best I've eaten in my life. I still savor the taste when I think about it. But there's something I hope you won't laugh about when I tell you."

"Whatever it is, just say it, why would I laugh at you?" Ling Zhenfei didn't know what Ji Mei was hinting at.

A bit embarrassed, Ji Mei said, "The leftovers from that day, I took them all home with me. It was the first time I ever took leftovers home, please don't make fun of me."

While Ling Zhenfei felt an urge to laugh, it also affirmed Ji Mei really did enjoy the dishes he had prepared.
