Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 435 Iga-ryu Ninja

Ling Zhenfei was very afraid of this claim, because everything was unknown; he did not know how many people were inside the Imperial Palace Club, did not know which computer housed the data, and even less what kind of data could definitively prove Zhou Yang's existence. It was all too dangerous.

Seeing Ling Zhenfei deep in thought, Feng Li spoke, "Brother Ling, I hope you make a decision soon. I have heard news that following the failure of the last assassin, they have hired a second wave of assassins, and this time they are Japanese."

"You should know about the Iga-ryu Ninjas from Japan; they appear and disappear like ghosts and are extremely difficult to deal with. If we don't find evidence of Zhou Yang, you will be in trouble later on. They might even harm your family. You know what the Japanese are capable of; they are inhumane."

"Alright, Big Brother Feng, stop it already. Haven't I agreed to go? If I don't, I might not be killed by the Ninjas, but you'll scare me to death. Honestly, it's not that I don't want to go. I just really do not know how to locate the necessary files on the computer."

"Don't worry, I have already thought of that for you." As she spoke, Zhou Xia handed over a USB drive, "If you really can't find it, just plug this into the computer. Then our hacker can hack into their system and obtain what we need."

Ling Zhenfei was tremendously relieved. This device was literally a lifesaver. Thankfully, with such advanced technology, he felt somewhat more reassured about what they were undertaking.

After finalizing the details, they agreed to meet near the Imperial Palace Club at ten o'clock that evening, and then they each went their separate ways.

It had been a long time since Ling Zhenfei had seen Liu Bingying, and he truly missed her. However, Liu Bingying was at work, and it wasn't appropriate for him to visit her at the hospital; it seemed he would have to wait until the evening to visit her at her home.

At that moment, he suddenly received a call from Han Lian, and was immediately startled before hurriedly answering.

Over the phone, he heard Han Lian's panicked voice, "Ling Zhenfei, come save me!"

Ling Zhenfei was taken aback, not knowing what had happened to Han Lian, and asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Where are you?"

With a trembling voice, Han Lian replied, "I'm at Jufeng Jiayuan in Li Jiatang, please come save me quickly."

Ling Zhenfei did not know what exactly had happened to Han Lian or what had caused her such fear. It was not at all characteristic of her, so he immediately drove to the location she had specified.

Jufeng Residential Area was an upscale community in Binyang, a place where wealthy people gathered. It featured multi-storey buildings as well as detached villas. Ling Zhenfei quickly arrived at Jufeng Residential Area, and then he remembered that it was the very community where Han Lian lived.

"Could it be that someone is causing trouble at Han Lian's house?" Ling Zhenfei thought, getting out of the car and heading straight for Han Lian's home.

He knew exactly where Han Lian's home was—a standalone villa, which made it very easy to locate.

Han Lian's villa was a two-storey building with a small garden and a garage.

At that moment, the garden gate was closed; from the look of it, it didn't seem like someone had broken in. Ling Zhenfei reached out to unlock the garden's iron gate, then quietly approached the house. The front door was tightly shut, and from inside, faint but distinct, came a girl's terrified sobbing.

Ling Zhenfei recognized the voice as Han Lian's. Han Lian was crying, which frightened Ling Zhenfei, but he did not hear anyone else. He urgently knocked on the door, "Han Lian, it's Ling Zhenfei, I'm here. Are you inside?"

Hearing Ling Zhenfei's voice, Han Lian inside seemed to grab a lifeline and shouted to Ling Zhenfei, "Ling Zhenfei, I'm inside, please come and save me."

"What exactly has happened, how do I get in to save you?" Ling Zhenfei was very puzzled by the current situation because he had not heard another person's voice inside the room. If there was no one else, then what was Han Lian so afraid of?

If there was another person in the room and Ling Zhenfei couldn't hear that person's voice, there were only two possibilities. One was that the person's abilities were so strong that they could remain completely still, even not breathing.

The other possibility was that the person was dead, and Han Lian was scared of a dead person. But both of these possibilities seemed too implausible.

"I can't open the door for you now, just climb through the window," Han Lian called out to Ling Zhenfei from inside.

Worried for Han Lian's safety, Ling Zhenfei quickly looked up at the building. He saw an open window on the second floor. To enter Han Lian's home, his only option was to climb through this window.

This little height was nothing for Ling Zhenfei. Making sure no one was watching him, he leaped and grasped the windowsill of the second floor, then flipped over into the room.

Moving cautiously from the second to the first floor, he was apprehensive that a dangerous person might strike him on the first floor. However, he saw no one by the time he reached downstairs.

Once on the first floor, Ling Zhenfei saw Han Lian sitting on a table in the living room, dressed in a loose nightgown without shoes, her face pale and even showing signs of having cried, looking fearfully under the table as if there were something dangerous underneath it.

Ling Zhenfei was momentarily stumped; this was not what he had expected. He thought Han Lian had been kidnapped, definitely in great danger from a ruthless criminal, but now he found that Han Lian was alone.

"Officer Han, what is going on here, have you been taken hostage?" Ling Zhenfei asked from a distance, leaning against the wall.

Seeing Ling Zhenfei seemed to relax Han Lian's expression significantly, she called out, "Ling Zhenfei, come and save me quickly!"

"Are you joking, what's under that table?" Ling Zhenfei didn't yet know what had happened or what Han Lian was afraid of.

"It's rats, there are two big rats, down there," Han Lian said, looking underneath fearfully.

Ling Zhenfei almost laughed out loud. The hostage situation he had imagined didn't happen, and a panicked Han Lian was actually scared because of rats in her home.

Han Lian was afraid of rats, who would believe that? A fearless police officer who braved bullets and storms, afraid of rats, it was almost too funny.

"Officer Han, scared of rats..."

"Go ahead and laugh, what's wrong with being afraid of rats, isn't there anything you're scared of?" Han Lian said somewhat aggrievedly.
