Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 401 Registration

Ling Zhenfei and Bai Ling sat on the hospital bench waiting for Xiao Kunkun's arrival. By now, the time was getting late, and the hospital had quieted down.

"If you're here to see a doctor, please go to the emergency room or register here," a nurse called out to Ling Zhenfei and Bai Ling.

"Doctor, we're waiting for someone; we're not here for treatment," Bai Ling replied anxiously.

Just then, Ling Zhenfei's phone suddenly rang, the sound echoing throughout the hospital lobby.

"Sir, please take your call outside. We need to keep it quiet here."

"Alright, I'll go outside to take it," Ling Zhenfei said as he walked out to answer the call.

This call was from Long Hai, and if it hadn't been for Long Hai, Ling Zhenfei would not have planned to answer it. Long Hai wouldn't call him unless it was something important.

"Hello, Big Brother Long, what's the matter?"

Long Hai's voice sounded very urgent, "Brother, I'm asking if you're currently in Modu?"

Ling Zhenfei was startled; he truly hadn't expected that Long Hai would know about it.

"Yes, Big Brother, I'm in Modu. What's happened?"

Long Hai said in a serious tone, "Don't think I'm joking with you. I've received a very reliable tip that someone is planning to make a move against you in Modu."

A sense of alarm surged in Ling Zhenfei as he quickly asked, "Who, and what for? Why would someone target me?"

In Modu, Ling Zhenfei could say he hardly knew anyone. He couldn't fathom why someone would target him.

"I'm not exactly clear whether it's about the incident at the Imperial Palace Club, but the situation is that Modu's criminal police caught an international assassin who had smuggled into the country. According to the confession of this assassin, they entered from Modu with you as their target, hired by someone with a lot of money. Since they each act independently, it's not clear exactly how many there are, but there are definitely more than just this one person. They entered from Modu, and you happened to go to Modu—isn't that like walking right into a tiger's den?" Long Hai said with some concern.

That someone had hired assassins to deal with him was somewhat surprising to Ling Zhenfei. But he knew Long Hai wouldn't deceive him; it had to be true.

"Did they say if they want me alive or dead?"

"It's a higher price for alive, cheaper for dead, but for a professional assassin, it's simpler to kill."

Ling Zhenfei chuckled and said, "Did you ask what price I was?"

"You're still joking? Do you realize how much danger you're in?" Long Hai's voice sounded a bit angry.

Ling Zhenfei quickly responded, "Alright, alright, Big Brother Long, I got it. Now they're in the dark, and I'm in the light. It's too late to run or be scared. I'm just afraid they will shoot me from behind. I hope they want me alive. Thank you, Big Brother, for this important message."

"Even if they want you alive, you can't be careless. There are countless formidable international assassins. You must be prepared, and be extra careful with what you eat and drink."

"Are you suggesting they might poison me?"

"It's not out of the question. Just be careful all around and get back to Binyang as soon as you finish your business."

"I understand, Big Brother. I'll head back once I finish here."

This news was certainly important, it at least provided Ling Zhenfei with a sense of precaution. Although Ling Zhenfei didn't know why someone would hire an assassin to kill him, it was almost certain that it had something to do with that incident at the Imperial Palace Club.

Ling Zhenfei silently made a resolution in his heart, that once he got back to Binyang, he would definitely have Long Hai settle this matter. If it wasn't resolved, then the Black Death Order would forever be a dark cloud hanging over him.

"What's wrong, whose call was it?" Bai Ling asked as she saw Ling Zhenfei walk back.

Seeing Bai Ling, Ling Zhenfei suddenly thought of Zhuo Yue. It was one thing if someone came after him, but he feared for those close to him being threatened, like Bai Ling. He was an emotionally driven person, and if something like what happened to Zhuo Yue occurred again, he would rather be the one to die.

Remembering Zhuo Yue also brought numerous doubts to his mind; he had made a trip to the Capital City but hadn't seen Zhuo Yue's body, and then this strange woman appeared, shrouding Ling Zhenfei's mind in mystery, unable to come to a conclusion.

"It's nothing, just a friend," he said.

"What friend? Is it another woman?" Bai Ling asked Ling Zhenfei with a gaze full of killing aura.

"Even if it was a woman, what of it?" Ling Zhenfei was unsure of what Bai Ling meant.

"Hmph, playboy," Bai Ling said, then ignored Ling Zhenfei and went back to scrolling through Weibo.

"This is bad, someone already knows we've come to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital," Bai Ling exclaimed as she read Weibo.

Ling Zhenfei hastily took the phone to look, and sure enough, someone had posted on Weibo about Xiao Kunkun being transferred to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Ling Zhenfei rushing over for a consultation overnight.

"That's impossible, we just got here not long ago, who leaked the information?" Ling Zhenfei was surprised.

"Ah, we're both so stupid, it must have been that taxi driver. Didn't we tell him not to spread the word when we got out of the car? How could he be so unreliable?" Bai Ling said angrily.

"Hey, look at this Weibo post, 'Xiao Kunkun transferred to Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Ling Zhenfei arrives overnight with girlfriend.' This 'girlfriend' must be referring to you," Ling Zhenfei said to Bai Ling with a smile, pointing at the post.

"Then there's no need to guess; it must have been that driver who let the news out. We were careless. Now for sure, a large number of fans who haven't gone to sleep will start heading to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital; you better hide," Bai Ling suggested.

"No need, Xiao Kunkun's ambulance has arrived," Ling Zhenfei heard the siren of the ambulance from far away. Perhaps having received the news, many doctors and nurses from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital rushed out. They started preparing even before the vehicle had arrived.

This made Ling Zhenfei very pleased; evidently, Shen Songling had indeed arranged everything well, and it was apparent that the quality of the doctors at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was very high.

An ambulance approached from a distance and stopped at the hospital entrance. The doctors and nurses worked together to lower the stretcher from the vehicle, quickly carrying it towards the ward. Another car followed behind -- it must have been Shen Songling arriving with Xiao Kunkun's family.

Although he had never met them before, Ling Zhenfei recognized Shen Songling at a glance and approached him.

Shen Songling obviously recognized Ling Zhenfei as well; he quickly walked over two steps to shake hands with Ling Zhenfei, then did the introductions. Of course, the most important was introducing Xiao Kunkun's family. Xiao Kunkun's mother had already followed into the ward, and upon hearing that the young man before them was Ling Zhenfei, Xiao Kunkun's other family members collectively knelt before him.

"Divine Doctor, please, we beg of you to save our poor child!"

Ling Zhenfei certainly understood the emotions attached to a child. He quickly urged them to stand up and promised that he would do everything in his power to assist Xiao Kunkun with his treatment and that the best thing for them was to calmly wait.

Xiao Kunkun's father seemed far from simple; although he was showing a face full of anxiousness and a worn-out expression, Ling Zhenfei could tell from his countenance that he must be an upright person. Ling Zhenfei was very willing to offer such people help.

After Xiao Kunkun's family had left, Ling Zhenfei chatted with Shen Songling.
