Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 391: Online Flame War

Ling Zhenfei truly hadn't expected to attract so much attention, which put him in a difficult position. Treating the child might shatter the slanders of his detractors, but it made him feel as if he were being threatened. If he kept silent, it would undoubtedly sadden the fans who supported him.

Ling Zhenfei didn't want to be controlled by public opinion, to appear just because others wanted him to, yet he also didn't want to disappoint his supportive fans. So, he decided to respond.

Previously, Ling Zhenfei had never posted on Weibo and rarely used the internet. He hardly understood the tricks of the online world and could only follow Weibo's prompts to send messages.

"Hi, everyone, I'm Ling Zhenfei!"

He casually posted a Weibo update, not expecting that such a simple post would instantly be swarmed. Fans cheered excitedly for Ling Zhenfei's Weibo entry, while others cursed him below as a hypocritical fraud, questioning why it took him so long to make a post. They accused him of being a publicist charlatan, and then a war of words broke out in the comments again. The number of comments and shares skyrocketed in the blink of an eye, with likes surging into the hundreds of thousands, truly terrifying him.

Ling Zhenfei temporarily closed his Weibo. He had to admit he was scared, and after a while, Qiu Qian called him.

"Divine Doctor Brother, you finally spoke up online, but why did you stop after just one sentence?"

"To tell you the truth, I was scared. I really hadn't expected this matter to have such a big impact."

"So, what do you plan to do? Just leave it like this?"

At this point, Ling Zhenfei was truly at a loss. This was his first encounter with such a situation.

"You're my agent, aren't you supposed to give me some advice at this time?"

"Look at what you're saying, Divine Doctor Brother. I'm not a professional in this field. It's up to you to make the decisions," Qiu Qian expressed her opinion.

Ling Zhenfei pondered and said, healing the sick was not a problem for him, but since the issue arose online, his lack of understanding worried him about mishandling the situation and causing unnecessary trouble.

"Then think it over carefully. This matter is significant, and you can't delay too long," Qiu Qian said.

After hanging up the phone, Ling Zhenfei fell back into a state of uncertainty. If the sick child were part of his daily life, extending a helping hand would be very simple. But mixing it up with the internet could lead to different consequences.

Just as Ling Zhenfei was feeling clueless, his phone suddenly rang. Seeing the name on the screen immediately brightened his mood. Bai Ling was calling—this girl, who spent her years immersed in the net, was akin to a half-expert in online matters. Perhaps, she would have some insights into this situation.

"Hello, Ling Zhenfei, I'm in Binyang. Come pick me up already." As soon as he answered the phone, Bai Ling's voice, as cheerful as a skylark's song, rang out, sounding very pleasant to Ling Zhenfei.

"You're in Binyang? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Where are you? I'll come pick you up."

"Just kidding. I'll be there in an hour. Come pick me up at the railway station," Bai Ling chuckled.

Ling Zhenfei didn't delay. After hanging up, he drove straight to Binyang Railway Station.

He had always been driving Liu Bingying's car and now realized the convenience of having an automobile. He thought that once this matter was resolved, he should buy his own car; it wasn't quite right to keep driving Liu Bingying's car forever.

Upon arriving at Binyang Railway Station, he waited at the entrance and soon picked up Bai Ling.

"As soon as I call, you come running. It seems you've really missed me," Bai Ling said with delight, her smile blooming like a flower as she looked at Ling Zhenfei.

"Yeah, I've missed you to death, but can you tell me what you're here for?" Ling Zhenfei was very dubious about Bai Ling's purpose for coming to Binyang.

"Miss here is divinely calculated, figured out that you'd have a bit of a headache these days, so I've magnanimously decided to help you out, grudges aside."

Once he heard Bai Ling's words, Ling Zhenfei knew that she must have learned about the trouble online. It was very likely that her visit to Binyang was for this very reason.

"You know about the thing on the internet, right? So, tell me, what should I do?" Ling Zhenfei asked earnestly.

Bai Ling didn't speak but chuckled instead, "Back at the Provincial City train station, you hurt me deeply, you know. Now you need my help and don't even put forth a bit of sincerity."

Putting on a pitiful look, Ling Zhenfei pleaded, "Please, kind and merciful Miss Su, teach me a way to handle this. Mr. Ling will be immensely grateful and will treat you to a grand meal at Binyang's finest restaurant."

Ling Zhenfei knew that after sitting on the train for so long, Bai Ling must be hungry, which is why he made the offer.

"You've got some sense, let's go then," Bai Ling said cheerfully, pleased that Ling Zhenfei had guessed her thoughts correctly.

Inside a restaurant in Binyang, Ling Zhenfei and Bai Ling sat across from each other.

Surveying the surroundings with surprise, Bai Ling exclaimed, "This is the best restaurant in Binyang?"

"Of course not, but this restaurant uses our Xishan Manor's vegetables. A restaurant that uses vegetables from Xishan Manor can't be too bad," Ling Zhenfei stated earnestly.

"You've praised your Xishan Manor's vegetables to the skies. I really must taste and see just how delicious the vegetables from your manor are."

Without being too picky, Bai Ling seemed agreeable enough. Seizing the moment, Ling Zhenfei hurriedly said, "Our manor's vegetables have never disappointed anyone. Let's not waste words, you already know about the internet issue, what do you think I should do?"

Resting her arms on the table and gazing at Ling Zhenfei with bright, large eyes, Bai Ling teased, "I thought you were capable of anything, never imagined seeing you so troubled!"

"What do you take me for, an Immortal? I'm not omnipotent. If you have any bright ideas, just tell me, I'm sincerely asking for advice," Ling Zhenfei said, visibly anxious.

"Do you think you can cure that child's disease?" Bai Ling asked doubtfully.

"Honestly, I don't even know what's wrong with the child, so I can't make any bold claims," Ling Zhenfei confessed, though he was aware of the online debacle and its cause, he genuinely had no clue about the nature of the child's illness.

"I've already found out for you. The child is currently at Modu International Hospital. I have a cousin who's involved in the child's consultation, and he's quite informed. The disease is peculiar; the child was eight but is aging at an alarming rate. Now, he looks like a little old man in his sixties or seventies. The International Hospital has tried many methods, but none can slow the child's aging process."

"Such a strange disease. How much time does the child have left?" Ling Zhenfei had never heard of such a condition before.

"Experts say it will be extremely dangerous if the child ages to eighty; they could die at any moment. You know, reaching eighty is already considered advanced in age for a human. But now, the problem is, no one knows when the child will age to eighty. It could be in ten days, half a month, or it might even be today."
