Chapter 402 - Cleaning Up

Chapter 402: Cleaning Up

“Shadow Queen, accept your punishment,” Lin Jie cried out without thinking. Since they had successfully cleared the first Hero-Level Boss, their plan to clear all the Bosses in the Holy Light Temple seemed possible now.

They would get an additional reward of one skill point by getting first clear for all Hero-Level Bosses.

Ding~

—”Your strength was acknowledged by the Shadow Queen. You receive +10points to all your stats temporarily.”

“Very well, get past all these warriors and come face me alive,” said the Shadow Queen in a sinister voice. She sounded just like a ghost from a horror movie. As her silhouette disappeared, a total of 30 purplish-black humanoid monsters spawned.

The Shadow Queen had 13 waves of monsters under her control. In every wave, the number of monsters would increase by 10. This meant that when it came to the last wave, there would be a total of 150 monsters.

[Shadow Shield Walker] (Elite)

Level: 40

Health Points: 120,000

Attack: 748-829

Defense: 1,200

“A total of 30 shield monsters. Gray Wind, it’s up to you.” Lin Jie raised his chin, and the two Shield Specialists immediately charged to the front and pulled the aggro of all the monsters. Those monsters were weak. Even though they unleashed all their attacks upon the two main tanks, both of them looked unharmed after the series of attacks.

However, the Defense of Shield Walkers was as high as 1,200. This greatly limited their damage output towards the monsters. With such high Defense, those with physical jobs that had low attack power like Camel, Red Dust, and Star Kill were dejected.

Abstruse Gray Wind waved his staff, and the surrounding curse power gathered to form a rune that resembled a large demon’s face. It headed towards the enemy and landed among the monsters’ formation before turning into black fog instantly. “Demon’s Curse, Soul Corrosion!”

Soul Corrosion forcefully created a weakness for the target. Attacking the weak point could ignore 10% to 30% Defense of the target, as well as land Critical Hit and Weak Point Damage. This would increase the damage output of allies.

“Armor Corrosion!”

“Resistance Corrosion!”

“Mind Curse!”

Gray Wind cast a few curse spells consecutively. In that instant, a large ominous cloud appeared above the heads of the monsters. Their bodies began to bend down and they looked completely lethargic. All of their stats had dropped by 15%! Their Defense had decreased by 400 points at once! Shield monsters’ strongest point was their Defense. With Gray Wind’s curse, they were vulnerable like tortoises who lost their shell.

Lin Jie’s normal attack increased from 400+ to 900+ instantly. This was the power of a Spellcaster of Curse. It was mandatory to have someone with this job in teams in the late game. In fact, this job was even more precious than a Priest.

The curses took off the pressure from everybody. They shouted noisily as they subdued the first wave of monsters. The second wave was Bandit Walkers in stealth mode. However, Domestic Fat Cattle used Blazing Fire Rain and exposed every one of them. Everybody rushed forward and continued to kill them.

Zheng Ziliang smiled and said, “Tsk, I was wondering how strong the monsters in this map would be. They’re nothing much.” Then his Mechanical Gargoyle spat out fire-explosion spells continuously and dealt a lot of damage.

Lin Jie warned, “Don’t be so happy now. The monsters may become stronger anytime. Listen to my commands later. The Shadow Corridor is too small, it would be bad if we get trapped by the monsters.”

Everybody put on a serious expression and nodded. They continued to kill the monsters with caution.

No matter how many of them appeared at the same time, the Shadow Queen’s guards would always be of the same job. Their stats were mediocre as well. Their only strength was their numbers. Once the number of monsters reached 100, it was obvious that everybody was feeling the pressure as they broke out in cold sweat. The healers were waving their staffs about non-stop and chanting continuously as the number of monsters increased. The difficulty of killing them had gone up.

When the 11th wave of monsters was spawned, it was time for their biggest test!

[Shadow Priest Walker] (Elite)

Level: 40

Health Points: 100,000

Magic Attack: 674-837

Defense: 350

“130 of them, and they are all Priests.” Lin Jie gulped. This was their biggest obstacle! These monsters only had two skills: Holy Punishment and Quick Heal. Their damage was not high, and could only deal at most 100 damage to the main tanks or himself. However, their Quick Heal was revolting. These Priests were able to heal one another continuously. The moment one failed to kill them instantly, their health bar would be back to full in just two seconds. They would slowly drain the players’ Mana before killing them off with Holy Punishment.

Everybody tried to hit them with AOE magic attacks. It did nothing except for making the monsters cast hundreds of healing spells.

In this situation, their only choice was to either use Holy Light Corrosive Potion or leave the dungeon temporarily and return when everybody had advanced. However, by then, other guilds might have taken over this dungeon instead.

“They can’t be killed.”

“Such disgusting creatures. Our damage is not enough.”

“Should we go out and find a bunch of Fire Mages to kill them instantly?”

They contemplated their possible moves. The most logical suggestion was to temporarily switch team members, to find a team of Fire Mages and instakill all of the monsters with magic. However, if they did this, not only would they not be able to get the extra stat points from obtaining the first clear for the Shadow Queen, the skill point reward for Hero-Level clear would be gone too.

Hero-Level allowed teams to add players into vacant spots. However, it did not allow them to switch team members.

“Boss, I have an idea, but it requires a huge cost…” Gray Wind said softly as he sent the pictorial of a skill over.

[Cursed Rain]: You sacrifice a set of complete Dark Gold equipment and put 20 units under the “Anti-Heal” state. For 20 seconds, they would not be able to receive any healing.

Lin Jie’s eyes lit up. There was actually such a gem! Cursed Rain could not be learned through normal methods. There was only a small chance of obtaining it from treasure chests. Gray Wind’s luck was pretty good. However, the cost of using this skill was too great. One complete set of Dark Gold equipment was worth millions of dollars. With good stats, the price could even go up to tens of millions of dollars!

Furthermore, as the target’s grade increased, the sacrificial item needed would become a complete set of Sub-Legendary equipment or even Legendary equipment. By then, this skill would be utterly useless.

However, Lin Jie could fork out one set of Dark Gold equipment! The Sky Provisions Shop had been in business for a long time, and it had collected quite a few Dark Gold items with trashy stats. Lin Jie immediately took out a level 15 Dark Gold helmet and passed it to Gray Wind.

“Okay, I’ll begin then.” With a stern expression, Gray Wind started chanting. The Dark Gold helmet in his hand dissolved into a black substance that emitted a foul odor. Thousands of Cursed Rain descended from the sky like blades. Black fog covered 20 Priest monsters as they felt the effects of the curse.

Lin Jie immediately struck with Dragon Armor Removal as he shouted, “Attack these 20 monsters with all your might! Switch targets when they are near death.”

Whoosh!

Everyone was stunned as the sky was filled with flames and icicles that came raining down. The Priest monsters only had 10,000 health points each, how could they endure such abilities? Their health bars were depleted in an instant. Just as the 20 Priest monsters were about to be killed, the team members followed Lin Jie’s command and switched to other targets.

The monsters’ healing skill would always target the ally with “lowest health”. Since the 20 Priest monsters were restricted from receiving any heals, the other monsters’ efforts in healing them were all going down the drain. Everyone focused their attacks on the other monsters that were not under the curse. Once their health bars were drained to a slightly higher percentage than the 20 Priest monsters, the team members switched their targets.

Under Savage Blade members’ heavy fire, the healths of hundred over monsters decreased to 10% in no time.

“Instakill!” Lin Jie roared as he summoned Wind Rider Blade Aura Executioner. He slashed out continuously, and the Blade Aura landed on the monsters, dealing thousands on damage each. His team members worked together to cast their explosive skills as well. With that wave of raging attacks, all the monsters were killed!

—”You have killed Shadow Priest Walker. You received 12,145 EXP (EXP Gem bonus).”

—”You have killed…”

—”You have leveled up to Level 42. You have received 5 Free Stat Points and 2 Fixed Stat Points.”

The golden light descended upon Lin Jie as he reached Level 42. The monsters in the Main Plot Dungeon gave an abundance of experience points. It was easy to level up by killing tens and hundreds of them as long as the team did not get wiped out.

At that moment, the 12th wave of monsters arrived! They were all Bandits with 80,000 health points and Attack as high as 1,200. If they were to attack together, even main tanks would be killed instantly. If this was a normal team, they would have already been wiped out by the sudden appearance of the Bandits!

“Dark Chaotic Hole!”

Along with Lin Jie’s roar, a huge black wall, which resembled a gigantic bowl, descended upon them and protected the entire team.

MISS!

MISS!

MISS!

Countless of misses popped up. The attacks that were enough to kill anyone instantly were rendered useless with Dark Chaotic Hole. Everyone seemed to have gained confidence as they unleashed all of their skills without holding back. In just a few seconds, the Bandit monsters with 80,000 health points were wiped out! Everybody’s experience bar went up greatly, but the items dropped by the monsters were not surprising.

Just then, the last wave of monsters appeared. It was the wave with the most number of monsters! There was a total of 150 monsters. They were all Mages with no exception!

Zheng Ziliang trembled as he asked, “Jie, how do we fight against 150 Mages?”

“With luck.”

“What?”

Everyone was uneasy hearing his words.

That’s right, with luck! The last wave consisted of a total of 150 Mage monsters. Their concentrated attacks were fearsome, and nobody would able to endure them. However, the Elemental Magic of these Mages was random. If they were to be spawned as Lightning Mages, then Lin Jie would have an easy time!

Even if they were not spawned as lightning, it would be fine. They could just retreat to the hall and leave the Shadow Corridor. These Mages would respawn then. This was the method players in his past life had come up with to clear this dungeon.

Sizzle— Sizzle—

Electric currents traveled through the ground as if there were full of electric snakes crawling around. They were 150 Lightning Mages!

Lin Jie was over the moon!

“Thunder Descent!”

Thunder Descent would allow him to be immune to all lightning attacks! His entire body was covered in a cloak of lightning armor as he charged forward. He attacked in all directions like a predator that could not be stopped.

“Blazing Fire Rain!”

“Frozen Path!”

“Blizzard!”

“Explosive Arrow!”

Countless AOE magic attacks turned the Shadow Corridor into an elemental magic hell. Just how high was Lin Jie’s damage? There was no doubt he could hold the aggro of all the monsters. With Thunder Descent, he was even immune to all lightning-type attacks! None of the main tanks could compare to him.

The 150 monsters, which would exhaust the minds of countless teams, were easily cleared just like that. If this piece of news was to spread, it would cause many jaws to drop.
