Chapter 144: Light Sporelok Gnar

At the City of Light Pub.

As the main entertainment hub for players who had nothing better to do, the pub’s ownership was now taken over by players.

Although no one knew who was the owner of this pub, it was evident that he had quite a bit of experience manning such kind of businesses. The facilities in the pub included a performance stage and a bar counter. Cheap Elvish female slaves dressed up in cute rabbit suits were employed as the pub’s attendees, and they served wine to the customers while showing off their good figures, letting the customers enjoyed this enticing view.

The Dwarf NPC boss who was just 80cm high was listening to a customer’s suggestion, his face full of resignation. Even if the customer’s saliva was spitting everywhere due to his intense speech, he did not relent in and kept repeating, “Mister, this is really not something I can decide on my own.”

“But you’re an NPC, why can’t you make the decision? Listen, what I said here is for your own good!” A fatso who donned a magnificent Mage’s robes, with a wand made of Dark Gold fragment sticking out conspicuously in a supposed “secretive” spot around his waist was arguing vehemently. “As a pub, you don’t even have private rooms. Is this even logical?”

“Mister, the private rooms which you are requesting for involves Space Magic. Any decisions which involve help from Space Magicians and those of higher level Mages cannot be made by me.”

“Space Magic? For heaven’s sake, you just need a few planks to build the rooms!”

This player was Domestic Fat Cattle. As the previous No. 1 on the Rankings Board, he often enjoyed coming to the pub to show off after leveling up—and it would be best if he could get to hang out with a few girls in the meanwhile. However, this type of opportunities rarely came by for him due to his figure. Now, after one full month, the previous No. 1 had turned into the constant No. 2 on the Rankings Board, and hence even lesser girls would bother to talk to him.

Yet today, a girl actually expressed interest in him! Just when he was all for reserving some private space to get intimate with her, he had to discover that… there were no private rooms available in this pub! Where then could he bring this girl to? There were no motels in the game, and of course, it would be ridiculous to bring the girl to a scenic open-air space and just get intimate there!

Domestic Fat Cattle was angry at this and hence had requested the pub’s boss to make him a room.

However, as an NPC in a game, the Dwarf boss definitely did not understand what was meant by a private room. He thought that this fatso was asking him to engage a Space Magician to create another individual space for him, and thus the two got into an argument.

“Aye, I say…” Lin Jie patted on Domestic Fat Cattle’s shoulders.

“Don’t bother me now! Urgh, I, the magnificent Domestic Fat Cattle, swear that I have never met such an unreasonable NPC like you after playing the game for so long,” Domestic Fat Cattle announced his name impatiently, without even bothering to look Lin Jie in his face.

Lin Jie coughed and reminded him, “Bro, I overheard a pretty lady there commenting that the fatso here is so embarrassing. She then left in a hurry…”

Domestic Fat Cattle turned back in shock, and after looking around, he discovered that the girl who had previously expressed interest in him was long gone! He grabbed Lin Jie’s shoulders and confirmed hastily, “How did that girl look like?”

Lin Jie stared at him, and finally squeezed out a few words after recalling with much difficulty, “Umm… she had very big boobs?”

“Ah, there goes my goddess…” lamented Domestic Fat Cattle as he put his head in his hands.

“It’s all because of this stupid pub!”

“Don’t get angry over such a small matter! Look, bro, your level is so high, your equipment is so good, and you look so handsome. Surely there will be a lot of girls wooing you?”

“Ah, that is true. Haha, I like making friends with honest people… oh, it’s you!” Domestic Fat Cattle’s eyes brightened up, laughed merrily and said, “I remember you, we met at the Blacksmith’s Shop last time.”

Lin Jie smiled and said, “Yes, such coincidence to run into you here. By the way, you mentioned before that I can seek you for help if I ran into any difficulty, correct? Now I ran into some trouble.”

“What trouble?”

“Trying to take down a dungeon. My team’s lacking jobs with a powerful output. Even with 10 Mages around, we still can’t maintain the output required. Hence, I am thinking to find some powerful player, like some expert who can take on 10 enemies single-handedly at the same time without batting an eyelid..”

“Hah! 1 vs. 10? That’s so easy! Let me help you!” laughed Domestic Fat Cattle.

“I may not be that good at other stuff, but as for attack output, well, no one will dare to claim he’s the best if I said I am only second-best! Oh by the way… do you have girls in your team?”

Lin Jie stared at him. “We do have girls, but…”

“Let’s go then!” Domestic Fat Cattle appealed to join the team and headed towards the dungeon.

Lin Jie stared after him, shocked at how things went so smoothly. ‘Wow, that was unexpectedly easy…’

Although Lin Jie was not very handsome, his fit stature and appropriate height still made him give off the vibes of a sunny boy. However, the case was different for Domestic Fat Cattle—as a fatso who was also a homebody, he had lacked acknowledgment from others throughout his life. It was hard to fathom his desperate urge to seek respect, acknowledgment and if possible, true love, in the virtual world.

As such, this unhealthy urge resulted in him showing off himself after he realized he was good at certain things. He had desperately craved for adoration by other people and hence developed this somewhat pompous personality.

No matter what, it was good to get Domestic Fat Cattle to help them.

After that, Lin Jie contacted Baili Changcheng and sounded him out.

“Are you busy?”

“Yes!”

“Oh, forget it then.”

“Wait! I am finished with my stuff now!”

Lin Jie: “…”

“Hahaha! I was stuck at a mission for a few days, but I completed it just now. What’s up?” Baili Changcheng laughed and commented, “Go ahead, tell me about it. Oh by the way, why did you stop replying me the last time when I mentioned about meeting up at the street hawkers?”

Lin Jie hurriedly changed topics, “Are you interested in the Belief Church?”

“Oh? The game’s Main Plot dungeon?” Baili Changcheng hesitated for a while before replying, “Okay then! That will get me out of helping to set up that guild.”

“Guild? Which guild?”

“It’s a guild started by my uncle. Remember last time I mentioned to you before, the uncle of mine who was strongly against investing in virtual games?” Baili Changcheng mentioned in a nonchalant tone, “He has found a guild called the Mage Heavens.”

Dong!

It was as if Lin Jie suffered a blow by a hammer, and the painful memories from his previous life rushed back to him.

In this life, the Kingdom of Glory had appeared earlier, and the Dark-Robed Knights were now cooperating with them. The third guild from the three alliances, the Mage Heavens had not appeared since. Lin Jie thought he had already changed history. In fact, he even thought whether Baili Changcheng was really the “Jiang City’s Outstanding One” who he had known from the past month. If that was the case, they could really become true friends, and thus all the pain that followed would be avoided.

Yet now, the Mage Heavens still appeared as destined! Lin Jie was reminded again of what happened in his previous life.

“Hey, Fu Sheng, why did you stop talking?” asked Baili Changcheng. “Hurry and send me the request to join the team, then I will have the excuse to reject that fellow’s tasks.”

Lin Jie shook his head, cleared all other irrelevant thoughts and sent him the request to join the team.

There were still two names lighted up in his Friends Column.

The Wine God Brothers!

‘Right when I needed them!’ Lin Jie immediately pulled them into the team.

“To take on a Boss? Sure, just nice that I am feeling superb today. Old Qing, come over too! What are you staring at me for? You have to come no matter what!” Wine God Elder seemed to be in high spirits and agreed without any hesitation.

Lin Jie checked on his team’s status. There were just nicely enough 15 people in the team now.

Shield Specialists: Mixed Breathless, Water.

Weapon Specialist: Netherblue.

Elemental Sword Artist: Baili Changcheng.

Bandit: Star Kill.

Retribution Paladin: Wine God Elder.

Forward Charge Paladin: Wine God Youngster.

Beast King Hunter: Lost Camel.

Ice Mage: Dejected Night.

Fire Mage: Domestic Fat Cattle.

Contract Summoner: Innocent Killer.

Shadow Priest: Qiu Yuan.

As for the healing jobs…

Ascetic Priest: Bu Yi, and… a certain Hunter who claimed he was a healing job as he could use Bandages, Unexpected Childe.

—————

—’You have entered the dungeon Belief Church.’

When Lin Jie arrived at the dungeon with the Wine God Brothers and Baili Changcheng, the rest were already there.

Domestic Fat Cattle was boasting about his great achievements in the game, and only Water was taken in by his words and applauded him consecutively, while the remaining guys pretended that they didn’t hear anything. As for the girls, Qiu Yuan, Netherblue and Bu Yi, they were all too kind to tell him to shut up, so they just listened without any objections to him as he boasted on.

This delighted Domestic Fat Cattle so much that when he saw Lin Jie, he immediately held on tightly to his arms and announced exuberantly that he would never want to leave this team ever. In fact, he would be glad to help expand the team by offering to produce some offspring with either of the girls in the team…

“Hi, let’s get introduced. These are the Wine God Brothers and Baili Changcheng,” commented Lin Jie, “Everyone can just look at the other people’s names.”

“Hi.”

“Hi.”

Dejected Night was shocked. ‘Indeed, Fu Sheng is really hiding some powerful players on his team! Mark my words, how can he not have other players on his team other than us? Look at them, any one of them is an expert or expert-to-be!

‘Especially this Baili Changcheng, he’s actually the most unfavored job among the Warrior types, an Elemental Sword Artist! Those who played this job are either useless bums or experts—but when does Fu Sheng ever keep useless bums with him?’

“How come the first Boss was cleared?” asked Netherblue, who furrowed her brows when she checked the information on the virtual screens. “I thought the others would be stuck at it for at least a full day.”

Lin Jie felt rather guilty as he smiled and said, “Hmm, the Boss in the Normal-level dungeon isn’t that difficult, unlike the Boss in the Hero-level dungeon. As long as the guilds fight it with all their members, it is not that difficult to take it down.”

When she heard the words ‘Hero-level’, Netherblue’s expression turned grim. “Fu Sheng, since the rest of the guilds have caught up with us, should we focus on the Normal-level dungeon instead?”

Lin Jie shrugged. “Well, we are already in the Hero-level dungeon.”

Netherblue was shocked.

The second Boss in Belief Church, Light Sporelok Gnar was a Sporelok originally.

Sporeloks lived around the swamp areas on the lands in The New Age. They looked like little mushrooms and sounded like babies, and thus were favored by many female players.

Gnar was the oddity among Sporelok. He had devoured a crystal and hence obtained the ability to absorb Light powers. Gnar had transformed into a Magical Beast which was even bigger than the Devourer. When players died for less than 10 times while attacking the Devourers, they would automatically enter the Hero-level dungeon.

This was one of the few Bosses which was the most difficult to take down in the Hero-level dungeon!

“Thus, we must take on this Boss in the Hero-level dungeon mode,” concluded Lin Jie in a serious tone.

“Then what about the other Bosses?” Unafraid, Netherblue lifted her eyes and stared straight into Lin Jie’s eyes, “Must we take on the other Bosses in the Hero-level dungeon mode too?”

Lin Jie nodded. “Yes, we must.”
