Lu Pengju had merely been placed in the army by Zhang Chu, through high-level connections, to study and gain experience; he held no military rank. He later performed well in the army, so Zhang Chu then had him go to Jiangzhou University to train new students and, in doing so, continue his own development.
Unexpectedly, among the freshmen he was training was his master, Lin Feng. How awkward!
"Master, you passed the college entrance exam and got into Jiangzhou University?"
"Isn't that obvious? I'm already here for military training."
"Uh... right. And Ye Lin? Where did she go after you two finished your mission?"
"How would I know? Everything was arranged by Instructor Zhang Chu; only he knows. Falcon Special Agents are scattered across various locations and positions. Who knows where Ye Lin is now or what she's doing? That girl, though, is big-chested but a bit airheaded. She's probably not doing anything requiring high intelligence, likely just a nanny in some wealthy family's home."
"A nanny? I think she's more suited to be a wet nurse. HEH HEH, given her... assets, feeding two or three children would surely be no problem for her."
"..."
Lin Feng was rendered completely speechless looking at his grinning apprentice.
It's said that after three days of separation, one should be seen in a new light, and Lu Pengju's change was remarkably significant.
After chatting a bit longer, Lin Feng said, "Apprentice, this military training is incredibly boring. Is there any way I can skip it?"
"Skip military training? You can talk to your counselor about that. You could apply for medical leave or something similar. As long as the counselor signs and stamps the approval, we'll honor it on our end."
"But I don't know any of the counselors here..."
Understanding Lin Feng's implication, Lu Pengju felt he had to help. "Alright then, I'll talk to your counselor and then inform the newly assigned training instructor for Platoon Four. Starting tomorrow, you can stop attending military training."
Lin Feng stayed in Lu Pengju's office for a short while before leaving. As a company commander, it was a piece of cake for Lu Pengju to arrange Lin Feng's exemption from military training.
Freed from military training, Lin Feng felt a great weight lift from his shoulders. After strolling around the campus for a bit, he headed off-campus to a renowned Chinese restaurant for lunch.
This Chinese restaurant, located just outside the school, boasted a varied menu and delicious food. Consequently, it was teeming with customers at lunchtime. By the time Lin Feng arrived, a long queue had already formed.
Since he had nothing else to do, Lin Feng joined the queue. Soon after, he found a seat, ordered his food, and settled into a corner of the restaurant, beginning to eat with relish.
After a while, as the lunch rush presumably peaked, more and more people began pouring into the restaurant. Lin Feng glanced up idly and was surprised to see a familiar figure in the queue.
Damn, she really came to Jiangzhou University for postgraduate studies?
Looking at the familiar, slender figure, Lin Feng smiled faintly. The girl was none other than Cao Ying, his former substitute English teacher from Jiangzhou No. 1 Middle School! She had once told Lin Feng she planned to pursue postgraduate studies at Jiangzhou University, and he hadn't expected her to actually go through with it.
Cao Ying was in line, waiting for a table and to order food, and didn't notice Lin Feng in his corner.
She wore a green T-shirt and a matching green skirt, her long hair draped over her shoulders, giving her a refreshing aura. Many male diners found their gazes unconsciously drawn to her. A girl like that would be a focal point of attention anywhere she went.
Lin Feng hesitated for a moment but decided not to go over and greet her.
However, when Lin Feng glanced at Cao Ying again, he witnessed an unsettling scene: a shifty-looking man, who didn't appear to be a student, was stealthily reaching his hand towards Cao Ying!
However, the man wasn't trying to grope Cao Ying; he was reaching for her handbag. He was a pickpocket!
Although Cao Ying's attention was focused ahead, she was still alert enough to notice when the man's hand slipped into her bag and pulled out a pink wallet.
"What are you doing!" Cao Ying snapped at the man, trying to snatch her wallet back.
However, the shifty-looking man, seemingly unfazed by being caught, quickly pulled his hand back, clearly not intending to return the wallet.
"Give it back!"
At this, Cao Ying's face flushed red as she angrily demanded it again.
The people in line turned curious gazes towards the commotion. However, when they saw the shifty-looking man's somewhat distorted and fierce expression, those who might have wanted to speak up for Cao Ying immediately lost their nerve.
"Miss, what are you talking about? When did I take anything of yours? Don't you dare slander me!" With that, the man turned to leave.
Cao Ying hesitated for a moment, then, steeling herself, followed him. Her wallet didn't contain much cash, but her ID card, several bank cards, her university meal card, and library card were inside. It would be incredibly troublesome to replace them if they were stolen.
"You stole my things! Don't you dare leave! Give them back!" Cao Ying rushed forward, grabbing the man's arm.
The man shot Cao Ying an impatient glare and threatened, "Miss, I'm telling you one last time, stop your slander! Otherwise, I won't be so polite!"
The man shrugged her off again, but Cao Ying persisted, determined to stay with him until he returned her belongings.
"HEH HEH, beauty, why are you blocking my way? Don't tell me you've fallen for me?" the man suddenly sneered, leering at Cao Ying.
He had barely finished speaking when another man—this one skinny with a lecherous gaze—approached from the side. Together, they blocked Cao Ying's path, one in front and one behind.
The skinny man grinned lasciviously. "Beauty, since you can't bear to part with my buddy here, why don't you come with us? The three of us can have some fun. HEH HEH, the room's on me."
Cao Ying hadn't expected the man to have an accomplice. She suddenly grew flustered, especially seeing that no one in the crowd was stepping forward to help.
After a moment's hesitation, the stubborn Cao Ying mustered her courage. "I... I can let you keep the money, but the cards inside are very important to me. Please, you take the cash, just give me back the cards, alright?"
"HEH HEH, beauty, you mean your ID card, right?"
"Yes, and my bank cards, my school meal card, and library card."
"Oh, so those cards are pretty important to you, huh? HEH HEH, we can give them back. How about you... play with us for a bit? After we've had our fun, we'll return your things."
"Perverts!" Cao Ying's face flushed crimson at the skinny man's vile suggestion, and she cursed furiously.
"HEH HEH, who knew such a beauty had a temper? However, my buddies here are in the mood for some fun today. Since you insisted on chasing after us, I'm afraid you'll have to keep us company now, HEH HEH..."
As the skinny man spoke, he reached out to grab Cao Ying. She dodged him in disgust, her face red with anger, and cried, "If you don't give them back, I'm calling the police!"
