"No, wait a second," Xie Moyao said, blocking the doorway.
"What's wrong, Sister-in-law?" Li Wenwen feigned confusion. She then pretended to peer into the room and added, "Sister-in-law, you aren't hiding someone in here, are you?"
This seemingly playful remark made Xie Moyao's heart leap into her throat. She feigned indignation and snapped, "Wen Wen, what nonsense are you talking about? Hiding a man? So that's the kind of person you think I am? I'm angry now."
She crossed her arms, putting on an expression that screamed, *Sister-in-law is very angry, and the consequences will be severe.*
"Haha... Sister-in-law, I'm just joking with you. You don't need to overreact," Li Wenwen said, reaching out to take her arm.
Though she knew perfectly well that the jerk was inside. But she didn't dare to just barge in so recklessly. If she really did, that man wouldn't let her off the hook. She was only doing this because she felt a little put out and wanted to give her sister-in-law a scare. Seeing the other woman flustered and panicked, she felt her objective had been achieved. Now that she had let off some steam and calmed down, it was time to leave.
"Alright, Sister-in-law, don't be angry. I was really just kidding. I know how good your relationship with my brother is, so how could I possibly suspect you of being in a hotel room with another man? If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
Her sister-in-law's sudden shifts left Xie Moyao completely bewildered. What on earth was the point of that little act? Was it truly just a harmless joke, or did she actually know something but didn't dare say it to my face?
She didn't have much time to ponder it because Li Wenwen was already pulling her toward the door.
"What are you doing?" Xie Moyao asked.
Li Wenwen twirled around. "Sister-in-law, look, my clothes are torn. How about you buy me a new outfit?"
Xie Moyao was in a tight spot. She didn't have any money on her. She came from a moderately well-off family but usually didn't accept money from her parents. Her own monthly salary was almost always gone by the end of the month, so where would she get the money to buy clothes for her sister-in-law? Besides, judging by the brand of the clothes she was wearing, it wasn't something she could afford anyway. You're really putting your sister-in-law on the spot here.
"Didn't my brother give you any pocket money?" Li Wenwen asked, probing.
The "brother" she mentioned was, of course, not her actual one. I know my own brother lives paycheck to paycheck. Where would he get money to give his wife? He barely has enough for himself and often has to ask me for some. Her question was a test, a way of asking: *Didn't that lover of yours in the room give you any money to spend?*
"No," Xie Moyao said, shaking her head in bewilderment. Your brother is so broke he has to ask you for money, and you're asking me?
Just then, DING!
The sound of a WeChat notification went off. Xie Moyao picked up her phone and saw it was a money transfer from a certain someone.
Could the world really be this coincidental? The moment I start talking about pocket money with my sister-in-law, his money comes through? Although she found it hard to believe, the proof was right in front of her, leaving no room for doubt.
Pretending nothing had happened, she put her phone back in her purse, then proactively took her sister-in-law's hand and started walking out.
"Sister-in-law, what's this?" Li Wenwen asked.
"So what if your brother didn't give me any money? Can't I have my own?" Xie Moyao replied, gently patting her arm.
Li Wenwen got the message. That damn jerk definitely gave her money. Probe successful! I have to ask him for some too. Following behind her sister-in-law, Li Wenwen took out her phone and sent him a message.
A long time passed with no reply.
She gritted her teeth and glanced back. I, Li Wenwen, am not someone who can be taken advantage of. What my sister-in-law gets, I get too! Don't you dare think you can brush me off.
"Wen Wen, come on. What are you spacing out for back there?" Xie Moyao asked, looking back as she pressed the elevator button.
"Oh, I'm coming, Sister-in-law," Li Wenwen replied, instantly breaking into a smile.
「…..」
After playing games in the room for a while, Sun Dasheng checked the time. Women really are born to shop. When they go out shopping, the concept of time simply vanishes. He couldn't be bothered to wait any longer, so he got up, dressed, typed out a message, and left.
Xie Moyao, having just bought the clothes, received the message. A flicker of embarrassment crossed her face, which Li Wenwen happened to see.
"Sister-in-law, was that a message from my brother?"
"Oh, no, it's from a colleague about a small work matter."
"Is that so?" Li Wenwen said with a grin, looking like a wily fox who had seen through everything. "Well, since someone has urgent business with you, let's call it a day. Thanks for the clothes. I'm heading off, bye!"
"No, it's fine. It's not that urgent; it can wait until tomorrow. Let's keep shopping and see if there's anything else you need. Your sister-in-law will buy it for you," Xie Moyao said, grabbing her hand.
Li Wenwen smiled and agreed, but she was thinking, Aren't you afraid he'll get angry? Make him wait that long, and you'd better watch your back. The thought made her laugh.
"Wen Wen, what are you laughing at?"
"Oh, nothing, Sister-in-law. I just thought of something funny."
"Alright, let's go then."
「…..」
「The next day.」
Sun Dasheng woke up in the large flat at Courtyard No.1.
He pushed aside the pale arm lying across him and got dressed.
Yun Yuqing rubbed her sleepy eyes and murmured, "Uncle, what time is it?"
Sun Dasheng glanced at her irritably. "What do you think? Look at the sun outside. It's already high enough to be shining on your ass."
