After uttering those words, Xie Moyao's cheeks burned. She didn't even know what had possessed her to blurt out such an obviously provocative sentence.
Is this my true nature? Or...
What she had imagined didn't happen. When she opened her eyes, the man before her was seriously helping her put her clothes back on.
A puzzled look crossed her face.
Did I misunderstand everything? Did he not mean that at all?
It's not impossible. I did drink a bit too quickly. I'm not drunk, but my head is spinning and my thoughts are sluggish. Things I can normally figure out in an instant seem impossible to grasp right now.
Then, the man reached out and gently caressed her cheek. "I've received your sincere offer, but we can't do this here."
"Why?" Xie Moyao blurted out before she could think.
By then, Sun Dasheng's hand had reached her earlobe. He pinched it gently; it was soft and cool to the touch but quickly grew warm as the pearl-like lobe flushed red.
"Why?" Sun Dasheng asked, a smile playing on his lips as he watched her avert her gaze. "Because I'm quite large, of course. I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to handle it here."
Scoundrel, Xie Moyao cursed inwardly.
How could he say such a shameless thing so easily? Does he have no decency at all? But… how strange. Why is my body reacting like this, growing hot and moist?
Having followed the rules her entire life, Xie Moyao suddenly felt her convictions waver, as if she were caught in a dream. Since childhood, she had been a model daughter. She studied when it was time to study and worked when it was time to work. When it came time for romance, her parents arranged a partner, and she silently accepted. It all seemed as natural and preordained as the rising of the sun. But who could have known her life's path would be thrown into chaos? Her heart felt just as chaotic now. She didn't even know what messy thoughts were running through her head.
"Alright, you should take her out of here. Otherwise, I'm afraid that impatient fellow outside will call the police on me. I'm a law-abiding citizen, you know. I don't do illegal things."
Her eyes widened in shock, not at anything else but at the sheer shamelessness of this man. It was a level of brazenness she had never witnessed or even heard of.
"So... I'll be going?" She tested his grip, trying to pull away from his embrace. To her surprise, he let her go effortlessly. It seemed he wasn't lying after all.
Xie Moyao straightened her clothes and went to help her younger sister, Li Wenwen, who had ended up under the table. She propped up her arm and started walking toward the exit.
"Wait..."
She halted and sighed, knowing this wasn't over. She turned back to look at him.
Seeing his teasing gaze, she felt like he was playing with her, but she had no proof.
"Oh, here are three room cards," Sun Dasheng said, walking over and handing her three black cards. "It's late and she's drunk. You probably shouldn't be on the road. Rest here for the night. I've already arranged the rooms for you."
Xie Moyao took them with a wooden expression, gave him a deep look, then turned and guided Li Wenwen outside.
"How did it go? Did the man inside give you any trouble?" Li Feng asked, finally breathing a sigh of relief when he saw them emerge.
He had been thinking to himself that if they took too long, he would barge in to check on them. It's wise to be wary of others, after all. Even though the two men who left earlier had said that two women inside with one man had nothing to fear, especially with him standing guard, he was still worried. You can't be too careful. Thankfully, it seemed things hadn't developed in the worst possible way.
He hurried over to them. When he saw his sister was dead drunk, his brow furrowed and his tone filled with reproach.
"What happened? You're her sister-in-law, how could you not look after her in there? How could you let her drink so much?"
Her boyfriend's words were exactly what Xie Moyao had expected. She let out a cold snort, handed the intoxicated girl over to him, and said nothing.
Seeing his usually mild-mannered girlfriend's cold attitude, Li Feng grew even more dissatisfied.
"What's with that attitude? I only said a few things to you and you're already annoyed?
"And look at Wenwen! She went in with you to apologize and got this drunk, yet you're acting like nothing happened. Did she have to drink all the apology toasts herself? As her sister-in-law, couldn't you have helped her out with a few?"
This torrent of accusations, delivered without even asking what had happened, made Xie Moyao's heart sink.
For some reason, the image of that scoundrel from earlier flashed through her mind. Even that lecher who was eyeing me showed more concern than you do...
"What are you muttering about? Hurry up and help me support Wenwen. Let's go," Li Feng said impatiently.
"Oh," Xie Moyao mumbled, moving to support Li Wenwen's other side.
The three of them started walking out.
Halfway there, Xie Moyao suddenly spoke up. "I looked it up online earlier. I think this place has lodging. It's getting late, it's a long drive, and Wenwen has had so much to drink. Shouldn't we find a place for her to rest?"
Li Feng dismissed the first part of her suggestion.
What's wrong with driving after dark?
But the part about his sister resonated with him. Seeing her vomiting and slurring nonsense, he had to admit it was a good idea.
"Fine. Go ask if they have rooms. If they do, we'll stay the night. No point in letting the money we spent on the membership go to waste."
