Unliving-Living

Chapter 41: [ 05: 00: 00 ] To [ 06: 00: 00 ]

"An Access..." Saquin was familiar with the term even before he became an Empowered.

He had always understood it to be the portal that permits the infestation of the world with beasts.

This was, of course, the knowledge available to the general populace of humanity.

With the aid of his high citizenship level and his new Empowered status, he was able to access information on the Net that was deemed exclusive and important. Almost all information that is available on the Net, regardless of location or membership barrier, was available to him.

Diving into the pool of information available, he was able to learn more about the Access. Though, with more knowledge about it came more questions.

[ An Access, one of the primary changes brought about by the First Fall, is a dimensional breach between the universe and the underworld. ]

This was the basic definition of the Access. It, in a sense, does not really differ from his prior knowledge. But, if the fact that he had always believed an Access was connected to a world of beasts and not the Underworld, was taken into account, then one would realize how much impact the definition has.

He was not to be blamed, in his days as a slave, he had heard of some many theories about where the Access connected to.

The most popular, and absurd to him, was the theory of it being created by aliens. The general populace had believed it to be a weapon crafted by those we were at war with to dwindle our numbers.

He had always found the theory skeptical as if the aliens had the ability to create such spatial portals, why don't they just use it to launch a full assault on humanity through its interior area.

Not to talk about the endless savage beasts that came out of the Access that can be used in the front lines instead.

Reading more on the Access, he noted a major characteristic.

It was most likely to occur at spots corrupted by the Zombiekind.

This was why fortress cities were built on spots that the Zombiekind of great numbers had formerly resided.

For example, this Oke City was built after the zombie army habitating this planet was finally wiped out.

Also, the city had been subjected to multiple Access breaks in the past.

Another thing Saquin noticed was the fact that an Access was not only limited to spawning savage beasts.

In fact, what comes out of an Access was entirely dependent on the location it connected within the Underworld.

Dragons, Elves, Vampires... Races that he never knew existed could appear in an Access break.

What was common though, was the beasts. They are almost certainly a constant, this is because they serve as servants and warriors for the higher races.

The Accesses could also be ranked according to the level of the Underworld it was connected to.

To be fair, he was not aware that the Underworld has levels, or floors, before reading about the ranks of an Access.

According to what he was reading, it spans from Tier 1 to 4. Supposedly, there were more Underworld levels, but Tier 4 Access was the highest Access seen, at least documented.

Organizing the little information he had gotten, a question popped up.

Are the beasts that troupe out of the break Senarbeasts or Underbeasts?

Guess, I will find out soon.

Another fun fact he discovered was that the city was still completely unaware of the fact that a break was about to occur.

He was a Divine, the most Senar sensitive and attuned being, he could discern a break hours before it occurs.

Ideally, it was actually days before it occurs in a normally contaminated area. But here, it was barely an hour.

That he was sure of.

Strangely, the HATA students in the city were here because a break was expected to happen around the city.

He had found an article:

[ The dark prince of HATA accepts Access clearing mission... ]

According to further research on his path, an Access appearance could be predicted.

And a Tier 2 Access was predicted to appear a couple of kilometers outside the city in a couple days.

This fact led to him digging on the topic a bit further, which brought him to a frown.

An Access can not, should not, appear inside a fortress city. Hundreds of preparations by Empowered powerhouses and technology gurus had cemented that fact.

Hence, the existence of normal human society in the city, in fact, the city operated as a normal one bearing the occasional breaks that occur outside the city.

But...

Saquin roughed up his hair with his right hand.

"Ha!" He let out a sigh as he teleported to the outskirts of the city, specifically the vicinity of the Energy facility.

After making himself comfortable at a nearby restaurant, often visited by the facility workers, he got back to swimming through the Net.

This time, he focused on getting information about the energy facility.

It did not take him long to discover that the energy facility was in charge of powering the security aspects of the city.

The energy barrier, the gate mechanism, the security cameras and bots, and most importantly, the Access/Zombiekind monitoring facility.

Now, Saquin was more confused.

He was very confident of the fact that his Seeker bloodline leading him here has something to do with the Access.

But he could not place his hand on the specific reason as to why.

I guess I really will have to go in.

He contemplated his options.

He could sneak in quite easily, but he could also easily gain legal access to the facility as a whole with his level of citizenship.

Sneaking in would be more fun, but going through the front door would be more effective.

So, he decided to go with efficiency this time, considering he still could not see the bigger picture.

---

About fifteen minutes later, Saquin was wearing a lab coat over his newly changed black get up.

His eyes wandered about the huge facility as he tailed behind his guide.

As he thought, it was quite easy to get in. All he had to do was request an official tour on the Net, with his citizenship level it was granted immediately.

All he had to do next was just show up. Of course he made a stop in the fashion district to change his get up.

He loved wearing the Unique-Core, but he felt it would be ideal to look less unique when in the midst of the normal populace.

His normal appearance already drew so much attention, the unique white get up just made it worse, screaming look at me.

When he goes back to the center sector of the galaxy, he would revert back to the unique look.

Now, waking through the huge facility, Saquin took in the sight with a tinge of awe.

Back to his suppressed state, there was the lack of his usual coldness and indifference. A little thing such as touring an energy facility could bring a smile to his face.

In the facility of white, with multiple faces walking about the multiple floors, the main job was regulation of energy.

All the necessary energy was provided by the small sphere placed in the center of the circular building. All the offices and hallways were built facing the core of energy, it was like a stadium and the sphere was the sports everyone here came to watch.

Saquin could see multiple devices built around the sphere to monitor it. Not just that, Saquin discovered that this place was more monitored than he had thought.

During his earlier city-wide sensory sweep, he had pinpointed one aura he presumed was the city's strongest. But here, within the facility's heart, he could feel three more on that same level, one of them even sharper and more potent.

Understandable, that was the core of the whole city.

Barely minutes into his tour, his internal compass, the pull of his Seeker bloodline, went taut. It wasn't pointing at the colossal energy sphere, or a hidden weapon, or a secret file. It was pointing at a person.

His gaze landed on a familiar figure standing amidst a group of classmates.

She is happiness?
