Summoned to a Fantasy World With a Modern Military System

Chapter 61: Lack of Information

It seems like all he had right now was a glorified map and a very expensive camera since the system wasn't going to do the task even though it was capable of it.

It was like having a supercomputer that could only run a calculator.

What can you do then? he thought, his frustration growing.

[I can calculate three general target vectors. I can overlay these three zones on the main feed based on the 'left of the entrance' parameter. The zones will be large. They will not be filtered.]

Just raw data. Great. Fine. Do that. Show me the three zones.

[Acknowledged. Ascending to eight hundred meters for a full tactical overview.]

On the screen before his eyes the drone's view shot straight up and the camp below shrank. It became a clear and glowing green pattern of fires and dark shapes.

The system's processors or whatever it may have went to work and identified the three main gates after they were slightly visible on the camera.

They lit up on his feed. Gate A. Gate B. Gate C.

Then, three large and transparent circles appeared on his map and they fanned out from each gate. Each circle covered a huge chunk of the camp. One was red. One was green. One was blue.

Remove the right sides from all the circles. Allen commanded.

Then the system divided the circles further into right and left sides and removed the right sides of all the circles.

The possibility of the tent being in the left side of gate A but so far that it ended up in gate B's right side was low hence those were removed, shortening his area of search.

At this point the system had done all he could and Allen was using his brain to manually command the system so that he could somehow pinpoint the location of the tent.

Well, it's a start I guess Allen thought to himself as he tried to think up ways to shorten down the area of search even further.

He looked at the feed coming from the camera more carefully and realized that the area around gate A was so barren, with only a few buildings sprinkled here and there that it couldn't possibly be where the command tent was located.

Thus he told the system to remove the entire gate A and its circle, and the system followed instantly with now only two zones remaining on the screen.

He then focused his vision on the remaining two zones, zooming in occasionally with the drone's camera to get a better look at each area.

Sure the night vision was helping but it also at the same time prevented him from seeing the finer details of things which would have helped him a lot in this situation.

For example, he could not see any colour other than green and white.

After examining the two zones for a minute or so he realized something. While it was true that there were tents and camps present on both zones B and C but when you looked at it closely there was a slight difference.

Especially when you considered the position of those camps from the gates they were with.

In zone B the camps were only slightly further than the gate in the wooden wall, and allowed the soldiers to march out quickly and without much problem.

However, in zone C on the other hand the camps and tents were directly to the left from the gate but they were quite far away. In fact they were probably just about a kilometer away from ending up in zone B's right side.

But since that difference was still enough to mark it as a separate area the system hadn't combined those zones.

Picking up on this Allen instantly told the drone to descend into altitude to five hundred meters and get a better image of the camps in the C zone.

Following his command the drone reduced the speed of its rotors while tilting forward a little at the same time, causing it to lose altitude smoothly.

Right as it was reaching the required altitude the rotors spun to hundred percent of their power again to counter the downward force while the drone stabilized itself aerodynamically.

It focused its night vision lens onto the camps, zooming in as much as it physically could.

The image showed to Allen on the feed was revealing, enough to let Allen know that his guess had been right. The camps on this zone were mostly abandoned.

There were a few campfires lit there with what looked like people around them, but upon zooming in clearly while he still wasn't able to get the clearest details but he saw enough to realize that they weren't humans standing there but rather some sort of scarecrows.

In short, it was a trap made to misguide assassins like him. He wasn't quite sure, but possibly this was originally the outpost of these guys and the one which got discovered by the scouts sent by Lishia.

However, after getting caught they abandoned the whole thing and set up their outpost on an entirely different site.

While the new one wasn't directly on the left side of the gate and rather more on the left diagonal, it did serve as a good way to confuse the enemy, which was he himself in this case, with their own information or lack thereof.

Before he could get a much better look at the things though, a sudden red notification popped up on the drone feed.

[Battery down to 5%!]

[Commencing auto recovery.]

No! Fuck, wait!

None of Allen's commands were heard though, as within a second of the notification appearing the drone feed disappeared with a big 'No Signal' message taking its place.

The drone on the other hand turned off its rotors and disappeared into thin air, going back inside the armory of the system.

Why do you forcefully recover it? There was still 5% battery left in it, I could've gotten a few more minutes!

[All the physical units deployed by the Genesis system must not go under 5% of their battery capacity, since doing so would risk them turning off and losing connection with the system. Hence it would be impossible to recall them back to the armory.]
