Speed Villian: Fugitive from the stars

Chapter 27: A new type of lightning.

"Monroe and Andrew used their signature move at once. Spectacular!" The announcer was just shouting, according to Kael. "Wait, Monroe is down!........ Andrew wins. Andrew finally hits the semi-pro threshold, semi-pro 3."

The arena was rumbling with energy. The crowd had just witnessed Andrew climb into the semi-pro tier limit, and their excitement hadn't died down when the announcer's voice boomed again.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Up next—we have a clash of rookies. But not just any rookies. In one corner, the fighter who held his own against a semi-pro yesterday—Kael-X!"

The cheers rippled around the arena, mixed with some skeptical murmurs.

"And in the other corner, the undefeated wonder rookie who blazed his way to rookie 3 without a single loss—Bruno of the Blazing Medites!"

This time, the arena nearly shook from the noise. The crimson-clad fighter emerged with a proud gait, his singlet robe embroidered with a glowing sun insignia. His red hair flickered like flames, and every step he took seemed to heat the air around him.

Kael had left Samantha's VIP room quietly and slipped into the locker hallway, then onto the stage. His hood still cast a shadow over his face, blue strands peeking out from underneath.

[Name: Bruno]

[Attributes: Fire, Air]

[Power rank: Elite Realm]

[Level: 112]

[Class: Agility with a suitable amount of assault]

[Combat Power: 308,673]

"Wait, his combat Power is 300k. So if I faced him yesterday, I will lose." He could help but laugh in his mind. "So unlucky he met me today. Augustus I want to see my hidden stats."

[It's just two attributes stats, don't be saying it like as if it's 10]

"Bleh." Kael wanted to vomit.

[Agility: 20,538]

[Intelligence: 3,000]

[Bro you are not intelligent ]

Kael face contorted. "Fuck you."

He studied Bruno with calm eyes. Space element is rare here… but someone else must have it too. Fire and wind though… tch, that's going to be messy.

Augustus, his ever-present system voice, chimed in.

[You still have potential points unused.]

"I know," Kael muttered under his breath, smirking slightly.

The announcer hyped them both up until the entire arena vibrated with chants. Bruno soaked it in, raising a fist. Kael didn't even lift his head. He just rolled his shoulders as though warming up for a casual jog.

When the signal was given, Bruno cracked a grin. "Hey, will you remove that ridiculous hood of yours? Let everyone see your face before I burn it."

Kael tilted his head. "What if I don't?" His smirk was audible, even with his hair covering half his face.

Bruno's grin hardened. "Then I'll rip it off when you're on the ground." Flames crackled around his hands, wind surging to swirl the embers into a fiery cyclone.

"Begin!"

Bruno blurred forward, his figure engulfed in fire and air, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared before Kael with a searing punch.

Kael's body tilted smoothly to the right. The fist scorched the air just inches away, grazing the fabric of his coat.

"What a dodge from Kael-X!" the announcer bellowed. The crowd roared as the hooded figure slipped away almost lazily.

Pretty speed, Kael thought. But let's let him taste victory a bit. Can't ruin the hype right away.

Bruno's teeth flashed in a sharp grin. He stepped in again—faster this time, flames whipping around his legs. His knee shot up, followed by a quick left hook. Kael shifted back, letting the punch graze his jawline, before deliberately taking the next hit to his chest.

"Boom!" The impact echoed across the ring, Kael skidding back several meters.

The audience erupted.

"Yes! Bruno's strike landed!"

"He's too fast! The hooded guy won't last!"

Kael straightened, rubbing his chest where the heat still lingered. His smirk widened. "Not bad."

Bruno frowned. He had expected his punch to put most rookies down flat, but this one just took it like a light shove. Still, his confidence didn't falter. "That was only a taste."

Kael lifted his hand and motioned mockingly. "Then come feed me more."

Bruno snarled, dashing forward. Fire wrapped around his fists, wind propelling his body in sharp bursts. He struck again, this time with a combo—jab, hook, elbow, kick.

Kael danced between them, sometimes dodging by a hair's breadth, sometimes taking the hit full-on. Each landed blow made the audience cheer louder.

"Bruno is dominating the match!"

"Kael-X looks like he's losing control!"

Bruno's barrage grew hotter, faster. His fists were like molten hammers, each strike pushing Kael toward the edge of the arena. The crimson aura of the Blazing Medites insignia seemed to burn brighter on his chest.

Kael staggered slightly from a heavy kick, his hood nearly falling off. He caught it with one hand and pulled it back down, chuckling. "Still can't knock me out?"

The taunt made Bruno grit his teeth. He ignited both fists fully, flames roaring like miniature infernos. With wind accelerating him, he vanished in a blur and reappeared in Kael's face with a flaming uppercut.

This time Kael didn't dodge. The blow connected.

"BOOM!"

Kael was launched upward, spinning in the air before crashing down against the ring floor. The crowd jumped to their feet in frenzy.

"Down! Kael-X is down!"

"This could be it!"

Bruno straightened, chest heaving, raising a burning fist high. His crimson eyes glared with triumph.

But then…

A low chuckle slipped through the smoke.

Kael sat up slowly, brushing dust from his shoulder as if nothing had happened. His hood still shadowed his eyes, though a strand of his blue hair had slipped loose. He cracked his neck.

"That actually stung a little," he muttered.

Bruno's grin faltered. What…? He took all that and he's still smiling?

Kael stood up, rolling his shoulders. "Alright. I've given you the stage. You've had your fun." His voice dropped, colder, edged with amusement. "Now it's my turn."

The crowd buzzed, torn between disbelief and anticipation. Bruno clenched his fists, flames flaring even hotter.

And Kael?

He took a single step forward—so relaxed, so casual—but the atmosphere shifted. The energy in the arena thickened, as though something dangerous was about to awaken.

The announcer's voice trembled with excitement. "Ladies and gentlemen… is Kael-X finally going to show us what he's really made of?!"

On Kael's right hand, crackles of yellow lightning began to dance wildly, flickering like a beast that wanted to break free.

The arena went silent for a heartbeat.

"Wait… am I seeing this right?" one spectator stammered, eyes wide.

"Is that—yellow lightning?" another echoed.

Confusion erupted in the stands. Yellow lightning? That wasn't supposed to exist.

Even Bruno, drenched in sweat and flames, instinctively took a step back. His fists trembled—not from fear, but from disbelief. Yellow lightning? Impossible… I've only heard of red and silver.

High-ranking gang members in the VIP seats exchanged sharp glances. Some leaned forward, whispering hurriedly.

> "If this is real… the higher ups must know."

"This changes everything."

Kael flexed his fingers slowly, letting the lightning coil around his hand like a serpent. His smirk deepened.

"Let's party."

The words were calm, almost playful, but they carried a deadly weight.

Bruno gritted his teeth. He could feel his pride burning as hot as his flames. Showing fear now would mean defeat before the fight even ended. He banged his blazing fists together, sparks shooting out like fireworks.

"Fine then… let's party!"

With a roar, he slammed his fists into the ground.

"Tempest Inferno!"

Waves of fire burst forth, spiraling upward and feeding into a vicious gale. The air itself ignited, carrying flames across the arena like a storm of living fire. The heat made the spectators shield their faces; some even retreated from the railings.

The announcer's voice shook with excitement.

"Unbelievable! Bruno has unleashed his mini-domain! Though not a true domain, the combination of fire and wind continuously gnaws at his opponent—it's practically an AOE nightmare!"

Bruno's aura blazed brighter, his hair whipping in the storm he had conjured. His voice boomed across the arena:

"Storm Fire—Imperial Sun!"

The inferno gathered above him, condensing into a colossal orb of fire. Not just flame, but a blinding sphere of burning light, swirling with storm gales. The ground trembled beneath its sheer energy.

Gasps rang through the crowd.

"He's going all out!"

"This is it—Kael's done for!"

The heat pressed against Kael, forcing his shirt to flap violently, his hair swaying like grass before a wildfire. Samantha, watching from above, held her breath, her heart pounding against her ribs.

Bruno's roar split the air as he hurled the burning sun forward.

"DIE!"

The blazing orb tore across the arena, devouring oxygen, leaving a trail of scorched air in its wake.

But Kael only smirked. He raised his right hand, lightning still flickering wildly, and extended a single finger.

"Too slow."

A thin strand of yellow lightning shot out with surgical precision. It pierced straight through the flaming sun as if slicing through water. For a moment, nothing seemed to happen—until the crowd realized the orb was splitting apart, breaking into six equal fragments that scattered like dying stars.

At the same instant, Bruno's scream cut through the chaos.

"Arghhh!"

The strand of lightning punched cleanly through his chest, just beneath the heart, exiting through his back before retracting back into Kael's finger like a summoned whip.

Bruno staggered, eyes wide in shock. The firestorm around him collapsed, flames flickering out like dying candles. He dropped to his knees, coughing violently before blood burst from his throat, spray

ing the scorched ground beneath him.

The arena was dead silent. No one cheered, no one moved.

They had all seen it—but not a single one of them understood what had just happened.
