The Extra Villain: I Made a Contract With The Dragon Empress!

Chapter 84: An Attack and a Battle (2)

Boom!

Boom!

Merlin unleashed a dozen fireballs in rapid succession at the crocodile monster.

Thanks to two days of training with Linda, he had mastered basic fireballs effortlessly—in fact, this spell had quickly become one of his specialties.

The explosions created thick black smoke that blurred his vision. Though it was only a basic spell, its power far exceeded what it should have been.

That was because Merlin's mana far surpassed that of other children his age, giving his fireballs devastating strength.

The monster let out a shrill roar. Its thick skin was scorched in places, but it remained unbroken.

'Damn... it's stronger than I thought,' Merlin muttered, letting out a helpless sigh.

Yet he refused to give up. He leaped into the air, using his mana to float, and thrust his right hand forward.

"Wave of Lightning!" he shouted.

Whoosh!

Two purple magic circles appeared above the monster's head. The next moment, ten lightning streams shot down, striking the monster from all directions.

Roar!

It bellowed in pain, its massive body writhing. This time, the attack tore wounds into its tough hide. Red blood seeped from the pores, and the acrid scent of burning filled the air around Merlin.

"Oh? Did my attack work?" Merlin blinked in curiosity, eyes fixed on the monster.

The beast lay still, seemingly dead. Then, abruptly, its eyes snapped open, glaring at Merlin with a murderous intensity.

Roar!

The monster opened its massive jaws and charged at him with surprising speed. Luckily, Merlin was already in the air.

But he didn't underestimate it. This crocodile monster might not be classified as strong, yet it was extremely dangerous. Its body was surprisingly flexible, almost like a snake.

Sure enough, the creature suddenly slithered up a tree and leapt toward him.

Merlin, anticipating this move, quickly dodged backward, cut off the flow of magic in his body, and dropped to the ground.

After landing, he stepped back ten paces and whispered, "System panel."

[Status]

Name: -

Kind of Monster: Voltar Estuary Crocodile

Level: 1

Description: Voltar Estuary Crocodiles are dangerous and powerful monsters. They can grow up to fifteen meters long and have a terrifying bite. They usually inhabit water but sometimes dwell near river mouths.

Their strength lies in their bite, and their defense is formidable, as if armored in iron. However, their stomach is highly vulnerable.

Merlin's eyes narrowed as he studied the monster's status panel.

"Voltar Estuary Crocodile, huh? And its weak point is the belly?" he muttered, focusing on the creature's underside.

Unfortunately, crocodiles move by crawling on their bellies, making it extremely difficult to target that spot.

But that was fine—Merlin had a plan.

Taking a deep breath, he launched his attack again.

Boom!

Boom!

Fireballs, lightning, wind blades—he unleashed them all, testing just how far his strength and control had progressed. Two days ago, he would have grown exhausted after casting a single spell.

That made sense; his magic control had been weak. But now, everything had changed. He possessed A-level talent, and his teacher was one of the strongest mages in the world.

If he couldn't master spell control quickly, how could he ever change his fate and become the strongest?

Strike after strike hit the monster, forcing it to stay in place.

After five minutes, Merlin paused, panting heavily.

His eyes focused on the front, where thick smoke—denser than before—covered an area about three meters around the monster.

Moments later, the smoke cleared, revealing the monster's condition: it was battered.

Its skin, described in the system panel as nearly indestructible, was visibly damaged. Red blood streamed from the wounds, soaking parts of its massive body.

The scent of burning was even stronger now, carrying fifty meters through the air.

Merlin covered his nose with his arm and squinted.

"Did it work?" he whispered.

He waited, calm, seeing no movement. Just as he was about to release a small sigh of relief, an explosion erupted from the monster's direction, followed by a deafening roar.

Startled, Merlin barely had time to react before the creature lunged at him at terrifying speed.

Boom!

The monster's massive body slammed into the spot where Merlin had just been, but he had already dodged. It didn't relent, relentlessly chasing him wherever he went.

Every step it took sent five-meter-tall trees toppling and carved one-meter-deep craters into the ground, creating a scene of utter destruction.

"Brother!" Catrine cried out, panic in her voice.

Her face was pale, eyes wide with fear. She had never witnessed anything like this. The crocodile monster was monstrously strong.

If even massive trees could be destroyed in a single blow, what chance did her small brother have?

Whoosh!

Merlin shot into the sky, spun in midair, and landed gracefully on a sturdy tree trunk, his expression serious.

"It's ferocious… This fight won't be easy," he muttered, taking a deep breath.

But fear was absent. In his previous training with Linda, he had fought a level-two wolf—far stronger than this crocodile monster.

Though it had only been a simulation, the experience was real and invaluable.

"In that case, I'll get serious too!"

Whoosh!

He vanished and reappeared above the monster's head. With both hands outstretched, two red daggers materialized—the Primodium Twin Daggers!

"Die!" Merlin spun like a top, aiming his attack straight at the monster's head.

The monster reacted instantly, curling its massive body into a protective ball.

Slash!

The twin daggers cut through its defense, piercing its tough hide, but the wounds weren't deep enough to finish it.

Realizing this, Merlin used his body weight as leverage, spinning again and delivering slash after slash at the monster.

Slash!

Slash!

Each strike emitted a faint, terrifying red glow. The monster roared in pain, yet it held its ground.

But it knew this wasn't the solution. The Primodium Twin Daggers were weapons without levels—unbound by the laws of this world's powerful.

Their attacks were undeniably devastating, capable of destroying the soul of anyone they struck.

Merlin's ears rang from the monster's roar, but he didn't care.

For several minutes, he continued his relentless assault, leaping, spinning, and retreating a few steps while gasping for breath.

"Did it work?" he wondered.

One minute passed. Two minutes. Three minutes. The monster's body, drenched in blood and riddled with wounds, remained motionless.

"I… succeeded…"
