It was a rare thing for mages to see precious materials and not be moved. The horns of Nailisi’s devil form emanated a peculiar brilliance. If her devil form advanced, the horns might even be able to cast powerful demon magic.

Purgatory Web was a spell that was incredibly slow to cast yet possessed a very long duration of attack. No beings below grade-9 would be able to defend against the entanglement of the Purgatory Web spell. Grade-7 spells were not something to be underestimated, as it was not to say a spell would have been more damaging the higher the level of said spell. Many spells were deemed to be low level ones chiefly because they have had strict casting requirements, making it very difficult for such spells to land a hit on the intended target.

Dark World was one spell among grade-8 ones known for its nature as a long-lasting control magic, and Nailisi was trapped within. If she were to be unable to break through the envelopment of the Dark World, she would then be cut to pieces by Purgatory Web.

The demon army on the ground did not notice something like that happening. Hundreds of demons charged at the black metal grand swordmaster and surrounded the grand swordmaster by locking their shields together. Twenty-four ancient warriors laid hidden among the demons.

The closely packed ring of demons blocked everyone’s sight. When the black metal grand swordmaster flipped the shields open, more than twenty spears were immediately thrust at them. The pale red sheen on the spears broke through their ice plate armor and Protection Sword Aura in an instant.

As soon as the black metal grand swordmaster was confirmed dead, the demons behind all rushed forward. Their body was soon buried by the stampede from hundreds of demons. An experienced veteran, a grand swordmaster armed with powerful magical equipment, died an utterly unceremonious death, and soon ended up being turned into mush.

Ancient warriors were capable of executing orders that were more complex, which made them more powerful than elemental creatures. Their combat capacity was also of a higher notch compared to elemental creatures. As soon as the warriors killed the grand swordmaster, they retreated back among the demons to hide in plain sight. The horse-killing sword of the grand swordmaster however, was taken by a demon to be their own new weapon.

The demons assigned to the temple guards were of high intelligence. None of them would simply let such a good piece of equipment go to waste.

The sorcerer went up to tangle with Nailisi while controlling Purgatory Cutting. Nailisi was trapped in midair, yet she was somehow pleased. The spell that the sorcerer was using had always been something she had dreamed of getting her hands on. Nailisi put her spear away and did not even bother taking out the Sword of Rules; she took out the Twelve Notes of Purgatory instead.

When the rules of the purgatories in the collection were broken, they required powers with rules to be restored. While the sorcerer was a low level one, the two spells used were powerful. They contained rules which were required by Nailisi to fix her purgatories.

A low hum was heard as soon the collection of purgatories were taken out, as if they were feeling very pleased at what Nailisi was about to do.

Dark Space was quickly absorbed by the Twelve Notes of Purgatory, without wasting any one bit of the dark element, as well as the power of rules generated by the dark element. Nailisi threw the Twelve Notes of Purgatory into the air, and it also devoured Purgatory Cutting in a blink of an eye.

The sorcerer was still having delusions of how to dismember the corpse of the demon they were about to kill, when they found their spell ceased working all of a sudden, frightening them tremendously. The demon moved like a bolt of lightning and charged at them. The sorcerer conjured a grade-8 Vacuum Shield in reflex, which was a spell stored within their magic robe, and something left for them by their teacher.

If the grade-7 sorcerer had chosen to simply flee right there and then, Nailisi’s huge body would have still been able to force her to consider the possibility of becoming a big fat target for the alchemy crossbows on the ground, regardless of how fast she was able to fly. The sorcerer still attempted to cast another spell after erecting the Vacuum Shield, which pleased Nailisi immensely. She opened her mouth and spat. A dragon crystal needle shot right through the shield and into the head of the sorcerer, right between the eyes.

“Just what is this mage doing trying to fight a demon up close and personal?” Nailisi was unable to figure out just what the dead sorcerer had been thinking. She spread her wings and extended her large hand, extracting her shot needle by crushing the head of the sorcerer, then placing it back into her mouth.

Killing a grade-7 sorcerer was no longer a big deal to Nailisi. As a top grade-9 being, it would be odd if she was unable to kill a grade-7 sorcerer. If it was not for the fact that she wanted the Gray Memory to stay hidden, Nailisi would have simply stabbed the sorcerer to death with her spear, instead of going about it in such a roundabout manner.

The demons clashed with the ten-thousand strong regular army behind. The way demons fought had always been to move injured combatants to the middle of their formation. The number of wounded demons was still a small one, and there was heavy magic infantry guarding the rear. The demons might have lost the leader capable of the Demonic Stampede skill, but they were still a force to be reckoned with when deployed as heavy shock troops.

The elite troops of the Sikenqinyan army were all buffed people nearing two yards tall. They were all armed with refined metal armor. It was a pity that such expensive equipment was still no match for the devil flying armor Saleen armed his demons with. The weapons the demons were armed with were all specifically tailored to their nature: large axes, warhammers, and even larger halberds.

Loud metallic clangs were heard as the gushing currents on the weapons of both sides collided. The human armies yelled and roared as they rushed at their enemies, conjuring sword auras explosively about while they were at it. In contrast, the demon armies had all been silent. The heavy thumping of their metallic boots on the ground were able to shake the earth all the same. The edge possessed by the demons was clearly displayed the very moment both sides clashed. The vanguards of the Sikenqinyan army were slaughtered by the demons like they were cutting grass.

Eight-thousand demons worked seemingly as one. Once a demon at the front was injured, they would stop immediately to have someone from behind take their place. The advantage in body sizes allowed the demons to bring down hell from above on the humans. Being able to keep their formations intact also gained them an advantage in numbers. The Sikenqinyan vanguard had the odds stacked against them, which looked particular brutal in the enclosed spaces of the camp.

Blood flew everywhere, and the air seemed to be filled with a red mist of spilled blood. The powerful life force of demons made it a rare case for them to be killed outright on the battlefield. The demons who had the advantage changed their formation, having supreme demons taking the lead at the front, forming three pointy formations shaped like wedges that cut the Sikenqinyan army right open.

The Sikenqinyans moved in square blocks of one-thousand strong each. With the first one-thousand all taken care of in the first clash, the change in the demons’ formation cut up the next one-thousand to come, making the Sikenqinyans panic.

The holy masters and mages hid behind, casting various buffing statuses on the Sikenqinyan army. When the third one-thousand made it to the front, they were barely able to hold their formation together.

Nailisi, who was in the air, saw the demon army being blocked off, and the warriors on the opposing all had glittering buffs about them. Some leaders and generals even emanated white divine light. “This won’t do. This big camp has more than two-hundred-thousand troops in it. No problem for the twenty-thousand on our side to simply rush at them, but it would be quite a pity if our losses turn out to be great.

Nailisi’s body contorted maniacally. Her wings turned golden and her body elongated. Six major elements congealed in gushes on the surface of her body.

The powers of Luoluokaluo was fully shown right there and then. Nailisi quickly turned into a golden dragon midair and flew forward. The golden dragon was three-hundred and sixty yards in length, enough to even cover up the light of the moon in the night sky.

Concentrated dragon’s breath burst forth as Nailisi opened her mouth, the pure, unadulterated dragon’s breath of a golden dragon. While Nailisi had yet to advance to grade-10, the transformation allowed the might of the dragon as well as their unique levels to overwhelm her enemies. The breath killed hundreds of Sikenqinyans in mere moments, turning them to piles of ashes on the ground.

Huge swaths of land were cleared in an instant. The demon army sped up their march. Her dragon’s breath made her rather dizzy. While her golden dragon form was indeed powerful, she was only a grade-9 Luoluokaluo nonetheless. Spouting dragon’s breath was a very taxing feat. She would not be able to stay in her golden dragon form for long.

Nailisi decided to just fall to the ground and ready her limbs. She then charged at the Sikenqinyan army. The golden dragon stomped on the soldiers without care, her tail swiped as hard as she fancied. One swipe was enough to send about one-hundred flying.

The low-level officers conjured their sword auras and slashed all the scales of the golden dragon. Their attacks were able to do little but send sparks flying and were utterly useless in breaking her defense. Nailisi continued rampaging and took out another two-thousand before the form became too taxing for her, and she was forced back to her devil form.

She knew better at that moment than any other previously, that she would need to advance to grade-10 before she would be able to sustain her dragon form.

Regardless, the results of her endeavor for that moment had her feeling pleased with herself. She absorbed souls like wanting to gulp down an ocean with her blood soul towers. The long period of fighting had her army kill more than two-thousand. Those two-thousand souls wailed within the blood soul towers, as their memories were still intact.

Those souls were steeped in fear and were seemingly experiencing the very moment before death claimed them over and over again.

Nailisi cared nothing for them. The edge possessed by the golden dragon was the ability to kill enemies swiftly in battle. Her devil form was not bad either. Her spear danced, and her strides became increasingly fast and stopped tangling altogether. She led her army over the camp to meet up with Aini’s spirit army.

The auxiliary army at the rear began to see an increase in casualties. More than one-hundred auxiliary troops died in combat, yet not one of the magic heavy infantry was lost. The difference in equipment was what caused the auxiliary troops to die.

Nailisi suddenly recalled that she still had something else with her. She took out the huge magic stone cannon and held it in her arms. She then used it to simply shoot at the fifth thousand. Regardless of how well-equipped the one-thousand troops were, they would not have been able to withstand being shot by such an equipment at such a close range. One shot easily killed more than one-hundred, and the spraying bullets injured many more.

The army at the flanks gathered while Nailisi looked on from above, knowing that she could not afford to wait any longer. Any further delays would have led to casualties among the magic heavy infantry. People died when fighting wars, yet Nailisi did not want to see any one of the magic heavy infantry fall there for some souls.

Many more souls were yet to be absorbed into the blood soul tower, and Nailisi no longer cared. She simply fired six more shots away, then put away the huge cannon with damaged magic arrays and absorbed another one-thousand souls.

The Sikenqinyan army camp was in shambles. It was at the brink of collapse. The tall demon was near invincible. The dragon that appeared out of nowhere wiped out two regiments, and the large cannon went on further to kill off yet another regiment.

Some among the Sikenqinyans lost all courage to fight at the frontlines, shouting at the top of their lungs, “Mages! Where are the mages?”
