The expeditionary army launched an all-out offensive, the offensive was not just confined to the two-mile wide area. The remaining tens of thousands of soldiers had spread out, tightening the assault on both flanks and causing the battle area to expand to an area five miles wide.

Saleen only stared intently at the flying route of the Golden Grand Swordmaster, there was still one mile to go. The badge in his hand was already drenched in sweat.

Saleen, who was usually composed, began sweating before the start of the battle. Such a thing had never happened before. Of course he would be nervous. If Saleen did not kill the Golden Grand Swordmaster when the Golden Grand Swordmaster reached the city entrance, Saleen knew that he would lose everything. Even after his teacher arrived this place would be a wasteland.

Behind Saleen, Fellett and Lanny were also abnormally jittery. They had seen Prince Safilos in person, so they understood what a Golden Grand Swordmaster signified. If Saleen could not accomplish what he had said, they would all be killed.

It was meaningless to resist, the offensive power and endurance of a Golden Grand Swordmaster could not be rivaled by a mage. What about escaping? The couple’s flying speed was only about one-hundred miles an hour and the speed of a Golden Grand Swordmaster flying across short distances was at least three times their speed. Even if they fled now, it would be too late.

Diyabannersa’s Soul Flame grew increasingly weaker, the power in his soul had been sucked away. The scar on his wrist expanded abruptly and with a crack his arm bone fell off.

Nailisi had already extended her hand. When Sika’s cudgel struck Diyabannersa’s forehead, Nailisi’s hand had already entered Diyabannersa’s eye orbitals.

The Soul Flame of a spirit king was extremely frigid, causing Nailisi’s actions to be stiff. She still managed to pull out the Soul Flame and swallowed it.

If the three kings were not restrained by the contractual backlash and Banchajanna was not gone, even a Golden Grand Swordmaster might not be able to kill them instantly when the three scepters were united. Saleen had planned to let them hold the fort first, but Banchajanna suddenly went insane, so Saleen had to do it himself.

The inquisition had sent three killers. The two black-robed mages trailed at the rear, their flying speed was only one-third that of a Golden Grand Swordmaster. They landed three miles away.

Five-hundred yards, that was the distance where level-9 magic was the strongest. Any nearer and there would be insufficient time to open a scroll.

Fellett opened a black scroll abruptly, releasing a level-9 spell; the Dark Blue Chant spell.

Six magic arrays appeared across the ground simultaneously as a blue beam charged into the sky, engulfing the Golden Grand Swordmaster. Fellett’s control had exceeded Saleen’s expectations. The first level-9 spell had struck the Golden Grand Swordmaster.

The Dark Blue Chant spell was a single magic attack with the largest area of effect, this area spanned one-hundred and twenty yards. Lanny did not dare be slow, she did not think that one level-9 spell could slaughter a Golden Grand Swordmaster. The black scroll in her hand was also opened immediately. The earth split up instantly as a magma-like fire serpent charged out. This fire serpent was around two yards thick with clear scales across its body.

An unpopular level-9 spell; the Wingless Serpent spell. It could reach a height of three-hundred yards. This was the only level-9 spell which did not require the guidance of a mage, it could lock onto an enemy’s magic attack naturally. The power of this attack was massive, the depleted magic chords would put a strain on a grade-9 mage.

Usually, a grade-9 sorcerer could cast twenty level-9 spells consecutively, however, after releasing the Wingless Serpent spell, the leftover magic chords would only be sufficient for them to cast level-8 spells. The Wingless Serpent spell would deplete almost all the magic chords.

A spell which had the consumption of a level-10 spell, but possessed the power of a level-9 half spell. No matter who it was, they would be unwilling to master such a spell. The level-9 scrolls in Saleen’s possession had been obtained from Raphael’s magical tower, it was unknown as to why there was only one of such scroll. In writing a scroll like this, even a grade-9 sorcerer would have a low success rate.

If the enemy was not a Golden Grand Swordmaster, Saleen would never use this scroll. To grade-9 sorcerers such a spell was garbage, but such scrolls were much more precious than most level-9 scrolls.

That Golden Grand Swordmaster was deeply startled, two level-9 spells had suddenly appeared, causing his flight to come to an abrupt halt. From the exterior, the Dark Blue Chant spell appeared to be a region encompassed by blue radiance. Being trapped in this spell, the Golden Grand Swordmaster noticed that waves made up of countless of water elements surrounded him, crashing towards him in an overwhelming manner.

Luckily, the Golden Sword Aura would protect one’s body. If the target was a Silver Grand Swordmaster, the Sword Aura would have been fully depleted in a dozen seconds and the swordmaster would have been crushed into pulp by the water element. The worst thing was that the attack method of this level-9 spell was totally different. The water element possessed adhesion, entanglement, freezing, suction, and many other abilities. The Golden Grand Swordmaster froze in his tracks. The fire serpent appeared underneath his feet immediately encircling his body.

Even without being trapped by magic this fire serpent could pursue the target and it could fly faster than any human being. The Golden Grand Swordmaster knew that he could not conceal his ability anymore. He simply chanted a word; lightning!

This pronunciation was magic in the language and it was the most ancient form of the magic language. Following the holler of this word, a strange magic beast flew out of the Golden Grand Swordmaster’s black bangle. This magic beast resembled the Six-winged Flying Snake, but it had claws and its body surface was pitch black with dark silver patterns.

When this magic beast saw the fire serpent underneath its legs, a bolt of blue lightning suddenly flew out of its body surface, striking the fire serpent’s head. The fire serpent was quashed silently. It collapsed to the ground and transforming into a pile of red rocks as scalding heat filled the air.

The magic beast then spit out a bundle of silver light balls. These balls cracked open mid-air and each crack contained silver lightning. The silver lightning danced in mid-air, causing the Dark Blue Chant spell to be destroyed in that instant.

The Golden Grand Swordmaster was enraged, he was almost wounded by two grade-9 mages. In a moment of pique, he changed his mind, he decided to unleash his most treasured abilities. He only planned to kill a few powerful adversaries before slacking off and taking the chance to leave. The rest of the battle would be handed over to Nicholas.

Now, the Golden Grand Swordmaster felt the urge to massacre people, he was going to slaughter all living beings in the city.

When the Golden Grand Swordmaster’s magic beast was summoned, the two black-robed mages from the inquisition came to a halt at the same time, unwilling to advance. That magic beast did not differentiate between friend and foe.

Saleen’s eyes just stopped short of popping out of his orbitals. This winged magic beast was obviously a lightning dragon, but it was of a higher grade. Not only could it survive out of water, it could also fly!

“What grade is this lightning dragon at? The one I threw at the three kings was only at grade-8. This is a lightning dragon that can fly, is it at grade-9 or grade-10?”

Not allowing Saleen to let his thoughts run further, the Golden Grand Swordmaster yelled, “Kill!”

The lightning dragon flying beside him opened its mouth and an azure bolt of lightning sliced through the space and charged towards the city entrance. The location determined by the lightning dragon was where Saleen and the rest of the experts were stationed at. This bolt of lightning might only be one yard thick, but its lethal radius was definitely up to dozens of yards. If struck, even the city walls which were crafted from white rocks could hardly be preserved.

Saleen only took one second to make a decision. Out of the blue, an intense fog spewed out from the surface of his body. His reaction speed was already extremely quick, but the lightning still struck his body first. More accurately, Saleen had raised his left hand.

Saleen’s left hand had withered, it was grabbing onto the clan badge forcefully. When the thick blue lightning neared the badge, it was immediately sucked into it. The remaining electric current was then absorbed by the mist Saleen had released.

Saleen’s unique skill, the Quickcloud spell, possessed defensive abilities. Saleen had done experiments in the past, the Quickcloud spell could isolate electric currents. The mist he created was pure, hence the ability to fend off electric currents was mightier.

The lightning before his eyes was too horrifying. Even if ninety-nine percent of it was absorbed by the badge, the remaining electric current still penetrated Saleen’s cloud.

Saleen used his hand holding onto the badge as a nucleus as the remaining electric current behaved bestially. Dust fell off Saleen’s withered palm continuously, his palm had been burned to ashes. Saleen’s hand bone remained unharmed, the green hand bone had been newly crafted from the leaves of the Tree of Life. Electric current crackled atop Saleen’s hand bone, but Saleen’s hand bone could not be destroyed.

The Golden Grand Swordmaster noticed that a huge cloud had suddenly appeared at the city entrance, the attack by his lightning dragon was totally absorbed by that cloud and he could not observe what was happening within the cloud.

This was such a captivating skill. An even thicker bolt of lightning spurted out of the cloud and struck his body.

Saleen collapsed as the cloud dispersed, all his strength had been usurped by the badge’s attack this time around.

The lightning dragon flying in mid-air was also dumbfounded. Following it, a flash of lightning appeared in the depths of its soul. The imprint on its soul was forcefully removed and even the gods would not be able to tolerate the pain it felt.

Before Saleen fell unconscious, he told Nailisi weakly, “Go… capture that lightning dragon, even if it’s dead…”

Nailisi spread her wings without hesitation, charging down the city entrance. She noticed that the flying lightning dragon was falling towards the ground, it had clearly received a massive impact. “Its master has been killed, in the short term, the lightning dragon’s soul may be filled with wounds, so it will not possess any offensive abilities. If it is allowed to recover, a lot of people in the city will die.”

Sika dragged Saleen onto the back of her magic beast skeleton. Taking out a beast tendon, she tied Saleen to her back. There was no other way but to flee. The flying style of this magic beast skeleton was unlike any other magic beasts or humans, it could cover a huge distance in an instant. Sika had relied on this skill to escape Banchajanna’s attack and deal a huge blow to Diyabannersa at the same time.

Fellett and his wife were simply dumbfounded. They saw that the Golden Grand Swordmaster had released a powerful magic beast which broke through the area controlled by the level-9 magic, following that, the magic beast even released lightning! What was more ridiculous was that Saleen also released a bolt of lightning which killed the Golden Grand Swordmaster in a flash.

The two people glanced at each other, then told Cuisi and Jola, “Protect Saleen!”

Speaking, the both of them soared into the air, following Nailisi and approaching the lightning dragon. Having more experience, they knew they had to kill the lightning dragon before it regained consciousness, otherwise… otherwise everyone would still be doomed.

Nailisi bellowed shrilly, “Help me fend off the attacks!” Then she pounced atop the lightning dragon. The lightning dragon could not retaliate for the time being, but Nailisi was worried that the two grade-8 mages might come forward and prevent her from killing the lightning dragon.

Since Fellett and his wife could not fly fast enough, they did not land on the ground. Instead, they held onto the level-9 scrolls, facing the two oncoming grade-8 sorcerers.
