Chapter 613 - Sacrifice (Part 2)

Chapter 613: Sacrifice (Part 2)

The red Bishop was down while the witcher spider was almost paralyzed so Saleen was no longer able to control it. The red Bishop destroyed the witcher spider’s magic array and almost managed to injure Saleen with his finger. The fact that even the magic array created by Joey could not withstand the red Bishop’s attack showed how powerful his close combat skills were.

Saleen knew that the enemy was dead.

He opened both his eyes and said, “No one is controlling the array now. Within one hour at most, we will be able to leave.”

Below the big statue, a black deacon appeared. He was shocked to see the red Bishop’s dead body.

“The old fellow is dead!”

The other black deacon appeared too. He saw the situation and shook his head and said, “Let’s just go.”

“We can’t. We have already been surrounded.”

“Humph, then we shall all die together. That was the head inquisitor’s intention anyway. Ignore what the religion has taught us. We will surely go to heaven.” The two black deacons discussed amongst themselves for a while before entering the white fog again to prepare for their final attack.

Saleen and the rest did not dare to come out from the metal house immediately partly because the house had been completely sealed. It would take some time and effort to open it again. Once it had been opened, it would be impossible to seal it again. Only by changing a particular gadget could the barrack continue to be used.

The stone-armored puppets charged into the fog. They climbed onto the city walls very quickly and killed all the soldiers there. Every time the soldiers fell, they stood up again, but stronger. Nevertheless, the damage on the city wall was irreparable. The fog outside of the city walls was becoming thinner. At this moment, the six rocks outside of Green Dragon Stone that were as tall as mountains began to transform again.

These six rocks were originally black in color, but now they began to reveal a red light before turning into purple color. The great power that had been residing in these rocks could no longer be concealed. Within the Northtown army, the grade-6 mage from the white rose clan turned around quickly and discovered that the huge rocks from far away were changing.

Over four-thousand soldiers had surrounded Green Dragon Stone, but they in turn were surrounded by the six gigantic rocks instead. The grade-6 mage said to the two black metal grand swordmasters, “There is danger, I cannot hold it off!”

“What the…,” One of the black metal grand swordmasters did not even manage to complete his sentence before the six rocks exploded.

The sound of the explosion travelled more than one-hundred miles away. Even the magic clock in Holy Rock City slightly trembled due to the explosion.

In the Prince’s mansion, Safilos had returned and he sighed. Two regiments of soldiers had died just like that. Nevertheless, they did not die in vain. The enemy lost a red Bishop, two black deacons, and a few of Oracle’s subordinates had also perished in the explosion.

This time around, the Holy See launched an attack at a place that was very near to Holy Rock City and they even managed to kill an important member of the white rose clan. By now, the noble families should finally realize that Qin had become a battlefield. Was anyone still going to continue holding back?

If anyone still refused to lend their armies and go against him, then it was as good as going against the entire Qin empire.

“Although the number of casualties this time around was not as devastating as the time when elder brother died, this meant much more”. This time around, the Holy See deployed a large number of men to the land of Qin. This should not be tolerated. This insult to Qin’s pride should be repaid with blood. Qin armies must march forth and trampled on Holy See lands.

It was a pity that two-thousand elite soldiers and a few hundred thousand gold coins’ worth of equipment had all been destroyed. The irony was that if there had been no casualties, the noble families of the empire would still think that Qin was safe and that the Holy See armies would never attempt to fight there. At the borders of Luolan, the military was still mainly made up of the armies of Holy Rock City and not from the noble families.

If not for the fact that such a huge army was gathered to fight against the Eastern Sea Allied Army, Tanggulasi would have already charged past their borders and the north would already be at war.

The white rose clan possessed significant power in the south. Not only did they lose an important mage, they also lost more than five-hundred soldiers. Through this incident, the southern noble families would now be able to demonstrate their attitude and allegiances.

Safilos fiddled with the ring in his hands. This was the only item that Emperor Chanake left for him. This ring was so valuable that he could easily exchange it for an army of one-million. He would not consider doing so until there was no other way out for the Qin empire.

“If elder brother was still alive, would the situation still be as difficult?” At this thought, Safilos’s hatred towards Lex deepened. “If elder brother did not listen to Lex and tried to invade Luolan personally, he would not have died and the southern noble families would have continued to be steadfast and honest. Based on elder brother’s abilities, living until three-hundred to five-hundred years old will not be a problem for him. If not for Lex, Qin would have had a powerful emperor with a long life who would be able to lead the entire country better than the other three big empires. If only Lex was the one who was sacrificed back then…”

Back at Green Dragon Stone, one-third of the four-thousand strong army died in the explosion. Very soon after, the ground began to shake violently. It was as if an ancient giant creature was about to crawl up from underground and was causing the ground to tremble. Not only were there flames from the burning of the white fog, they were bursting through the cracks on the ground as well. As the fire burned countless wind elements went berserk and began to tear open the warriors’ armor.

Four huge rocks exploded and they all exploded in the same direction; the Green Dragon Stone.

The area within a circumference of ten miles was like hell. The four-thousand strong army could not last past one hour before being burned to ashes. The last person to die was the grade-6 mage from the white rose clan. He eventually realized that it was hopeless to use any magic to try and escape from the flames.

Almost all the elements were absorbed by the array of divine spell and his own magic chords could not be adjusted. The spells that he had stored up in his scrolls had all been used up long ago and when he used up all the spells in his magic staff, he finally gave up. He used a spell to send a metal box underground and wondered if anyone would ever manage to dig it out in the future.

Within Green Dragon Stone, Saleen’s metal house was thrown into the air by the earthquake. Luckily, Saleen was experienced enough to stick himself to the ground. When the metal house was hit by rock fragments from the explosion, the rocks quickly turned into dust, but they also caused a loud echo within the house.

A few mages took turns to cast wind-element spells to minimize the damage to the ear drums.

The royal swordsmen camp and Aini’s bodyguards were thrown all over the place. Their armor was of no use in this case. They were not prepared in the first place so besides the few that were more powerful, the rest were all thrown into a mess.

It was impossible for Saleen to cast any spells under such violent shaking and could only release scrolls at the most. Only Fellet was still able to cast low-level spells and he was doing so very calmly. The metal house was covered with dents and scrapes as it was struck by rocks, burned by fiery flames, and cut by wind elements.

The sticky trap was a spell that was used for attacking while its defense abilities were only complementary. It was innovative to use an attacking spell for defense, but it was not a defense spell after all. Other than acting as a buffer against the flames, it could not defend against other attacks.

Fortunately, the metal house was simply too resilient. It was covered with damages that were as deep as half a foot, but no penetration.

After an hour, Green Dragon Stone finally settled down. By now, the metal house was damaged beyond recognition. No one could stand steadily and even Saleen felt nauseous. The magic nuclei on the warriors’ armor had all been used up, but they still continued to use it because the loud echo had to be buffered or they would have died.

Saleen did not open up the barrack immediately. He waited until every warrior had changed to new grade-4 magic nuclei before cutting open the wall with Aini.

Aini’s role was to use death decomposition to create a few holes then Saleen would use current cutter to open these holes further until they were big enough for them to pass through.

The flames were still burning, but without the red Bishop Genesis had been stopped because no one else was able to keep this divine spell burning. A skeleton climbed out from the metal house. Remnants of godly power caused the skeleton to withdraw a little, but since the power was not directed at the skeleton, it managed to climb out safely.

Another skeleton climbed out from the hole. In total, Aini released ten skeletons to form a circle on the outside. He then released another four green-bronze zombies to guard the entrance. After that Su climbed out, followed by Cuisi.

The warriors of the royal swordsmen camp came out at the third wave. They were speechless at the sight of destruction.

Everything had been turned to ashes in Green Dragon Stone. No one could identify the corpses because they had all been ground into small particles. Only the armor was still big enough to be identified, but they were only the size of a finger.

All the blood had already evaporated so there was nothing left for anyone to try and investigate.

This divine spell was so destructive that it would not matter how many men north town sent over. Six holy equipments were used to activate this divine spell. These six holy equipments were hidden within the six gigantic rocks that surrounded Green Dragon Stone. The six rocks crumbled along with the holy equipments. They crumbled with so much force and energy that they contributed to the finale of Genesis.

The six holy equipments and the burning of six high-level disciples’ souls prolonged the Genesis’ finale. It was as if the end of days had arrived and the divine spell lasted for close to an hour.

If they fought head-on, the holy priests and Holy See warriors would not be a match for the two regiments. By using such a suicidal trap as a form of attack, the two regiments and close to six-thousand people were killed.

A sorcerer once said that divine spells were not frightening, but the Gods could drive these people crazy. Magic would always triumph over divine spells, but a mage would often fare badly against a holy priest. The calmest holy priest would still have a side of lunacy.

On the other hand, the craziest mage would always maintain composure.

Saleen looked at what was once Green Dragon Stone and was silent for a long time before saying, “Let’s go. Holy Rock City will capture us and bring us back for investigations if we stay.”
