Chapter 416: Saleen’s Preparation (Part 2)

Kredian and the rest gathered at Saleen’s room quickly. Most of them stayed at the temple to accept any assignment that Saleen gave out anytime or to listen to Saleen talk about magic related problems.

Although a mage’s job required a lot of time, in actual fact, these people saved a lot of time. They would not need to worry about gold coins as Saleen would provide them the fundamental materials for practice. To work for Saleen, if there was income, Saleen would not withhold all the money. He would distribute parts of it to his followers.

As a follower of a mage, many of them got better treatment than a lordling. A lordling might be bullied by a big personage, but there was hardly anyone that would be willing to provoke a follower of a mage. You did not offend one person after all, but a bunch of people. The leader of the people would at least be a grade-5 grand mage or above.

Saleen pointed at dozens of metal bottles on the other side of the room and said, “These bottles can store restorative water. You have to fill these up within a month’s time.”

The mages looked at the bottles that were half a meter tall and did not show any dissent on their faces. The healing effect of restorative water was amazing, but it was only a grade-1 magic. A mediocre grade-1 mage could produce twenty portions and above in a day. According to the mages’ ability on controlling elements, the production amount of restorative water would differ. Saleen’s one portion of restorative water was at least dozens of times more than an ordinary mage.

The task that Saleen had given was too easy to complete. Those mages only looked at those alchemy bottles in curiosity. The alchemy bottles were bronze in color and there were countless tightly carved magic patterns on them.

The bottles were actually used in the warships back then to store magic liquid. The speed of the mages creating magic liquid back then was similar to their current speed of making restorative water.

No matter magic liquid or restorative water, they had their time limit. Even the restorative water that Saleen made would be nullified after a month. Those made by a normal mage could only be stored for about six days. In these bottles, restorative water could be stored much longer.

Saleen used the Figaro Magic Formula and calculated in reversal. He realized the functions of the magic symbols on the bottles.

These bottles were considered the lowest grade equipment as it did not have space attributes and it could not store much liquid. There was very little equipment that could store liquid with magic attributes then. If any mage laid their hands on one, they would not sell it off.

Saleen’s dimension stones could be used to store food, but they could not stop restorative water from expiring. When he sent people to usher Lex, bringing a huge amount of restorative water would be useful. Even though Lex’s army might not have gone through war, for such a long journey, there must be people who fell sick.

Bitter Water Prefecture was in the middle of the empire while Saleen’s new city was more than one thousand mile away from the border north of the empire. There were vast differences in weather for the two places and it was inevitable to find some of them not accustomed to the climate.

“I want to fully arm a five hundred person army within a month. Within this one month, I want all of you to assist me in making armors. Kredian, I need your help to mend magic chariots as well.”

“Magic chariots! Master, could you salvage the sunken warship?

“Of course.” Saleen did not explain to them about how Nailisi did it. If it was someone else, they would need at least a sorcerer to do so. Even if they were a sorcerer, they had to be a sorcerer like Jason who had strong foundations and bizarre equipment to be able to do so.

Many magics had restrictions underwater, even using a spatial equipment would be huge trouble. Only a demon who was not afraid of water pressure and able to control spatial equipment like Nailisi would be suitable for salvaging sunken ships.

A normal way to salvage from sunken ship would be sending people to tie the body of the ship underwater with a buoy. After confirmation of location, they relied on another bigger ship’s magic force to pull up the sunken ship.

Capstan that used a magic nucleus was a monster that ate gold coins too. To salvage a sunken ship like that was huge and it could easily be failed. Besides, there were many weird ways to salvage a sunken ship, but all of them were troublesome.

There were twelve sunken ships off island nations from the eastern sea underwater one-hundred miles away. Nailisi and the winged skeleton were already on their way to salvage them.

“Among the five hundred people, more than half of them will be bowmen and all of them will be Barbarians. Then, I will put together two hundred swordsmen, who are pirates that I brought under control and can be managed and put to use now. The swordsmen from Sregl Island will not take any action this time.” Saleen said and he felt a surge of emotions. He killed the murderers, but the death of a hundred swordsmen still made him feel badly.

They were one-hundred of capable and loyal swordsmen. They all grew up in Sregl Island since birth.

“Master, how many mages do you want to send?”

“Five hundred people… Accompanied with two magic chariots, although it may seem a little wasteful. Both chariots should have a grand mage and a grade-4 mage. I planned to use skeleton warhorses to pull the magic chariots and both chariots will need two of them. Kredian, you and Daniel will go. If there will any problem with the skeleton warhorses, Daniel can assist you.” Saleen thought for a while and said, ” Lex has many mages on hand. You don’t have to compare yourself with them. Regarding ushering, let Gurney take care of it.”

“Gurney?” Daniel found it strange as Gurney was originally a pirate too and he was so ferocious that even his underlinings were afraid of him. Ever since he had gotten Saleen’s support, Gurney was different from the scrawny pirate that he used to be. He was learning as much as possible everyday.

“Mm, his capability to work is not too shabby. I am planning to train him.”

Everyone was listening quietly. Saleen was the youngest in the room, but in this room that was longer than thirty meters, he was everyone’s center of attention. Everyone had to rely on him to live a better life. Saleen wanted to announce everything that he had thought through one by one as they weighed heavily in his mind. He felt good being trusted by so many excellent people. He had to lead everyone to live better and not send these people to death on his behalf.

“Besides the magic chariots, we need to make another two normal chariots with flamethrowers.”

Then, Saleen hesitated but said, “All of you, if you have no choice but to appear on the battlefield in the future, try not to attack using magic directly. That is unless the attack is going to bring about a huge return. The battlefields should not be where a mage should appear, but without us those soldiers would die meaninglessly. What we need to do is, support the soldiers with magic and let them live. I would make a lot of low level equipment and the expense may be a little higher. You must be mentally prepared. During training of the soldiers, I would have all of you to participate too.”

It was quiet in the room and it started snowing outside. There was a big piece of snow on the glass window and the world was covered in white.

Saleen’s clear voice sounded thin in the spacious room, which was suitable for his young identity. Daniel looked at Saleen’s face that was relaxed. He sighed in his heart, “I should sign a new follower contract with Saleen. If I don’t make a choice now, I might not have this opportunity in the future.”

Daniel accepted Saleen. Even though Saleen had such achievements that were inseparable from his teacher’s support. If Saleen was not capable, there would not be so many mages that were willing to follow him. Other mages’ lifetime goals were to build a magic tower, but Saleen already owned a complete city at such a young age.

“I designed armor for the Barbarians and I will need your help too. Regarding weapons, we could salvage some from the sunken ship. The quality of the weapons by island nations from the eastern sea are decent and we have no need to purchase any as of now.”

A regular soldier has more than five weapon on them, two of them are long weapons and the other three are short weapons. Most of the soldiers from the eastern sea did not even bring a dagger with them when they die in the battle. These weapons were all in the sunken ship. If there were enough people, Saleen could put together equipment for ten thousand people or above anytime.

Equipment for ten thousand people was not a small amount. Viscount Gugger from Saleen’s hometown would not be able to put together that much. A baron only had dozens of soldiers and in actual fact, Saleen’s action then had already broke the restrictions of the empires’ rules.

Who would be there to discipline him? His city was built up using Lex’s name after all. Before The Great Chanake passed away, it passed through the decision of the upper house that Lex could own an army of ten camps.

The nobles made excuses to expand personal armies. Every personal soldier came with eight auxiliary soldiers and they would have the same equipment as the personal soldier. Servant soldiers in name, but in reality, they were all the nobles main combat power.

Saleen only planned to send five hundred people to usher Lex, but a five hundred person army was not any small force. There would not be any auxiliary soldier among the five hundred of them. If they were to expand it, there would be two thousand people, which was two regiments.

Five hundred soldiers were something a First Viscount was entitled to. More importantly, Saleen had magic chariots.

Magic chariots were not rare, but definitely expensive. Among all the items related to magic, they were the item that was a little cheaper than a magic tower. In actual fact, magic chariots were like a miniature portable magic towers and their function was to stabilize elements and increase the power of the magic. As an item made for war, magic chariots were made for mage and at the same time they had a defence power.

On a battlefield, a mage’s living power was not strong. Among an army of ten of thousand people, there were many swordsmen. When arrows showered down, the expense of a magic shield was terrifying. Even Ice Plate Armor that was famous for its defence powers could not withstand for more than a few minutes.

Even when a low level mage was sent on the battlefield, there would be swordsman dedicated to protect them while magic chariots were the best equipment to protect a mage.

If Kredian lead four low level mages in the magic chariot, there had to be at least five mages of the same level to be his match. To kill him would be even more difficult.

Qin Empire was called the magic empire. To conquer the Qin Empire, island nations from the eastern sea spent national power to make big amounts of magic chariots. Saleen took a few straightaway. If these chariots were to be pulled onto the land earlier, the ending of the battle would have been uncertain.
