Chapter 1435

Chapter 1435: Heroes (Part 2)

Saleen was outside the Cemetery of Heroes and let Dante get into the magic amplifier right away. He stopped and looked around in the cemetery, finding it empty and there was no heroic spirits found anywhere.

Sh**, are they all dead or have they left?

Saleen swept the place with his Eye of Souls and all gravestones stood around without making a sound.

“Grandmaster!” Saleen called using thundering sound skills. That ended up making the cemetery lively.

Most of the heroes either climbed out or squeezed themselves out from the great number of gravestones about. There were also those who flew out in pieces and then assembled themselves back together.

Everyone was apparently happy to see Saleen around

“Hey, look who’s here?”

“Haha, that little mage back then has actually advanced to level 11. I take it you’re now considered a powerful one somehow eh?”

“Right, back in our days, we would probably do more to foster him. Yep, he should be able to lead an army of less than 1000.”

“I heard that he is a king now.”

“Where is the grandmaster?” Saleen continued calling.

“You’re looking for me?” The grandmaster appeared before Saleen all of a sudden.

“Yes, I’ve brought you something, and it’s coming right behind me now,” Saleen pointed behind him.

The grandmaster immediately sensed the Lord of Glory’s double of the Lord of Glory charging in their direction from behind Saleen. He was overjoyed and then yelled, “Everyone, hide! It’s a level 14 demigod, and a living one!”

The heroes that had been surrounding Saleen all dispersed within seconds, hiding back into their gravestones as quickly as they were able to. The aura of all those heroes were quickly concealed by the gravestones as soon as they went back into them.

The grandmaster then said to Saleen, “Hit me with your most powerful attack!”

If the others were to be told to do so, they might have hesitated, but not Saleen. He lifted his hand and unleashed eight ball lightning at the grandmaster.

The grandmaster’s expression changed drastically right away. It was fortunate that the ball lightning were incapable of moving quickly and was less powerful he expected. However, those attacks nonetheless reminded him of somewhere else and that made him jump.

The grandmaster hooked with his finger and a box leapt from the dirt below.

It was apparent that the box was a piece of equipment as well. While it was rather crude, but it was sturdy enough nonetheless. The eight ball lightning were shut inside the box by the grandmaster.

Saleen found immediately that the box had amplified the ball lightning’s powers by hundreds of times over. No, that’s just an illusion. The grandmaster then laid down an illusion-type magic on the box, making others think that the box contained an immensely powerful godly item.

“Run over there!” The grandmaster then flung the box away. The box draw an arc in the water and landed on the grave without inscriptions, with only the corner of the box sticking out.

Saleen understood that the heroes were incapable of leaving the cemetery and they were also afraid that the Lord of Glory would have hesitated to get inside. As such, the grandmaster went about setting up a trap, making the Lord of Glory think that Saleen was there to collect a powerful equipment, in order to take on the god.

Saleen was able to understand the plan within a split second and he was able to sense at the same time, that the Lord of Glory’s double was heading that way as well.

The Lord of Glory should have long arrived. His speed surpassed Saleen a lot more in that place. However, due to not having an identifying badge with me, he was soon attacked by the magic arrays within the city walls, before he even got near the city walls.

Most of those magic arrays were broken, with the remaining ones casting magic corresponding to the level of the enemy’s power.

The Lord of Glory was at level 14 and magic arrays of the highest levels at the edge of the wall were but level 12. Even so, when hundreds of level 12 magic spells were locked onto the Lord of Glory’s double, it still frightened the demigod level double nonetheless.

Some parts of this city is still intact!?

That almost halted the Lord of Glory. His fear of ancient humans far eclipsed what Saleen imagined it to be. That trauma was so severe that it had even impeded the Lord of Glory’s progress in advancement.

However, the Lord of Glory was able to steel himself and enter shortly after. There were only broken magic arrays left in the city. If there had been true ancient humans alive, that main plane would not have fallen that much and his religion would have long been destroyed.

The ball of light in the Lord of Glory’s hand flickered and dazzling light burst from the dark ocean floor. There was no light element to be found there. He was only using the power stored within his godly item to destroy the city wall right there and then.

A large hole about a 100 meters wide was blasted and huge number of elemental creatures charged at him. The Elemental Stone Statue Soldiers attempted to mend the wall using earth element and the Lord of Glory laughed, barging his way through the elemental creatures.

He swung the scepter in his hand around, making it so like there was an invisible hammer crushing all weapons that were getting near him.

The scepter’s power could be wielded full force without level restrictions. If the Lord of Glory’s double were to actually hit Nicholas right there and then, the fallen holy master would have been reduced to mush, regardless of how well-equipped he was.

The Lord of Glory’s double then picked up some elemental creatures along the way, before turning his eyes at the Cemetery of Heroes.

Saleen’s steps were halted and the Lord of Glory’s double was surprised. Not running anymore? He then sensed magic vibrations that the grandmaster had created.

Damn it. He is actually hiding a powerful equipment here?

The power of that equipment was so terrifying that it would not have been allowed to exist on Myers Mainland. The equipment is a live! A godly item, something belonged to the gods.

The Lord of Glory’s double quickly calculated in his mind. He then sped up and headed straight for Saleen’s current location.

There were magic arrays or statues attacking the Lord of Glory’s double continuously along the way, which he casually repelled with his scepter. His confidence grew as his power recovered.

It was but a piece of equipment and there had not been any mage at Saleen’s level had been able to wield equipment that powerful. It was worth noting that equipment with weapon spirits in them came with conditions. That mage was at level 11, which meant that he was mostly capable of mastering items with level 13 weapon spirits.

Walls after walls in the Imperial City of the Abyss were toppled by the Lord of Glory’s double. He had no intentions of taking detours and flying would have invoked attacks from magic arrays. As such, he resorted to simply barging his way through.

It was merely less than 20 seconds when Saleen heard those noises and the Lord of Glory’s double was already at the side of the Cemetery of Heroes.

A barrier right before Saleen disappeared all of a sudden—a trick played by the grandmaster, for fear that the Lord of Glory would have hesitated to get into the cemetery.

Soldiers were buried at the fringes of the Cemetery of Soldiers and the ones of the highest level were but level 12. It was not until one reached somewhere near the center that heroes surpassing level 14 were found. Saleen had been able to get inside back then due to protection from the Divine Tree Magic Tower, and did not know any of that.

Yellow light beneath Saleen’s feet flickered again when he saw the Lord of Glory show, heading straight for the trap laid by the grandmaster.

The Lord of Glory halted for a bit. What he saw was that Saleen had burst through a barrier and entered a huge cemetery. He was then thinking if he should get inside a cemetery of ancient humans.

If the ancient humans were to learn that he had desecrated their cemetery, then it would have been the end of his divine kingdoms. Even if he were to run to the edge of their crystal wall system, he would still have been hunted down and killed.

No. This is just a cemetery. If there are still ancient humans around, why would the cemetery look so dilapidated?

The Lord of Glory’s double saw what Saleen was after as well. There was a box at a grave, emanating powerful lightning energies.

He could not have afforded to let the mage acquire that equipment. The Lord of Glory became anxious and forcefully suppressed his fear of ancient humans, before charging into the Cemetery of Heroes.

He was able to arrive at Saleen’s location and came right before the grave in just a split second. He extended his hand and dug the box out. The Lord of Glory’s double then turned around and smirked at Saleen, saying, “So mage, you’re here for this then?”

He was saying that in magic tongue. It was apparent that the Lord of Glory was quite educated.

“Not actually.” Saleen shook his head and detonated the box. The eight ball lightning were connected to the power of his soul.

The Lord of Glory was startled. He found the power in the box was not as high as he imagined. The eight ball lightning exploded, taking half of the Lord of Glory’s double’s body, which then recovered with a flicker.

The Lord of Glory’s face turned gloomy. He thought that he had gotten a godly item from the Thunder God, yet that turned out to be a trap laid out by the mage. The trap was so intricate that even he was duped.

“Lord of Glory, have you taken Nailisi’s soul away?” Saleen asked.

“Nailisi, you mean that demon?”

“Yes.”

“Why should I tell you?” The Lord of Glory saw the pain in Saleen’s eyes and felt a lot better deep down. It appeared that the demon that he killed was rather important to the mage after all.

Killing the mage himself might not have even caused him fear, but killing those close to him proved more excruciating than killing him instead. Humans, pathetic. But if it weren’t for such weaknesses, how would the gods have been able to persist for as long as they did eh?

“Man, gods are indeed annoying. Saleen is asking you something. Why don’t you just answer him?” The grandmaster sneaked up behind the Lord of Glory. A yellow magic array lit up beneath the lord of glory’s feet. It was a piece of bone crystal of the giant that Saleen gave to the grandmaster, and he was able to casually cast a huge magic array with it.

“You’re correct. The demigod is indeed a cocky one!” An archer climbed out of his gravestone as well.

“Demigods are not easy targets actually. But in a place like this with no light and a light-type god still dare to venture inside. Tell me there isn’t something wrong with this guy’s brains eh?”

“I sure think something is wrong. Just look at how his face twitch!” A level 15 heroic spirit pointed at the Lord of Glory’s face and said.

The Lord of Glory’s face was twitching out of fear. He was quite practically paralyzed from fright. Even if it had not been for the grandmaster’s magic array, he still would not have been able to lift his legs.

“Well, umm, demigod, answer Saleen’s question eh,” A hero who had been a female assassin urged him. She was only currently at level 14, but she had been level 16 when she was alive. The form of a hero served no use to the assassin instead. The critical hit ability that she had been so proud of disappeared when she became a heroic spirit.

The expressions on the Lord of Glory’s face changed back and forth, not knowing if he should plead for mercy or attack.

But then again, it seemed that he was unable to attack.

The Lord of Glory tried to lift the ball of light in his hand and quickly found his body petrified. It was the same type of bone crystal of the giant Saleen had, and yet the grandmaster was able to lay down a magic array capable of fossilizing even gods. Saleen, on the other hand, was only able to absorb energy within and run.
