Chapter 1304

Chapter 1304: Fear Me (Part 2)

Imposa felt his pores open and was unable to stop cold air from seeping into him. Saleen’s bone hammer beat on the War Drum of Fear, but he was only able to feel that much because it was not targeted at him. He did not have a clear idea what the effects of the drum would be like.

“Kill!” Saleen’s voice resonated throughout his territory. Every single lightning puppet’s actions became several times faster. They crackled with electricity, but their actual combat capacity was not as strong as their appearances suggested. However, since they were within Saleen’s territory while the drum was heard, all mages and warriors in Alchemy City were all frightened to the bone.

What they most feared appeared in their minds. The ones of lower levels succumbed to hallucinations right away, and some even attacked the ones around them.

They crashed through the barricade and with Imposa’s metal cog still spinning, and it felt like nothing was standing in their way.

Doom, doom, doom…

Imposa’s heart beat alongside the rhythm of the War Drum of Fear without him realizing it. He did not resist it and intentionally followed Saleen’s rhythm, learning the sound wave attack as he went.

Saleen had a breeze controlling the drum. After he advanced to level ten, he began able to control some of the War Drum of Fear’s skills. Grand Duke Iron Blood followed right behind, surrounded by 200 of his most elite Bug Angel Warriors.

The warriors began to sing old war songs along Saleen’s beat. Their might looked magnificent.

It was unfortunate that the bug angels’ appearances were nothing like humans. The large bug-like warriors looked hilarious from Saleen’s perspective.

While the bug angels did look hilarious, their combat capacity was considerably enhanced. Attacks from the surrounding towers became scarce and were no longer anything worthy of consideration.

Saleen’s party had Imposa and his 12 Iron Blood Warriors in the lead. Under Saleen’s leadership, all of them flew straight for the west side of the city.

The Floating City was over 20,000 meters in the air and Alchemy City’s attacks were no longer able to affect it. The Floating City, on the other hand, kept throwing huge rocks.

The rocks cost next to nothing, the only cost being the transportation from the bottom of the city, where they were stored. The rocks were picked from everywhere without regard of type, so long as they were hard enough.

The Elemental Hand ran into further trouble. The team at the southeast side of the city had broken the city’s defenses. The archangel in the north took the metal angels around, destroying nearly 100 magic towers.

The Elemental Hand was forced to take new measures. At the northeast side of the city, in a huge ring-shaped group of buildings, a magic array formed out of six level 10 magic towers was invoked. A faint green aura emerged from the summoning magic array.

However, with Saleen’s War Drum of Fear playing, the magic towers of the southwest were unable to form decent defense and were broken though by Imposa. His skills were incredibly ferocious and the huge metal cog shot smaller cogs at frightening speed, invoking sonic booms as they cut through the air.

Anyone below the levels of grand swordmasters perished as soon as they touched the cogs. The weapon was akin to a magic shooter of sorts. The metal cogs were far more powerful than bolts shot from alchemy crossbows.

The purple-gold dragon shot dragon’s breath at key moments, dissolving any incoming dangers.

They did not kill many powerful enemies as they traveled. The party met up with the bug angel army at the edge of the city. They picked up teams and platoons along the way until an army of over 30,000 units followed behind Imposa.

However, the sound of over 30000 bug angel wings was still unable to suppress the sound from the War Drum of Fear.

Without the archangel holding the enemy, Saleen and the rest would not be able to escape smoothly. The city’s territory grew increasingly strong, but the power originated from the center of the city, spreading outwards.

The speed of the power’s increase only occurred only after the magic amplifier was restored.

Saleen contacted Rossen, and the Floating City cast a huge swath of magic flames from above. The teams that were harassing the enemy at the docks retreated immediately, letting the puppets taking care of things. Magic cannons continued to fire, and warriors continued to retreat back to the Ancient.

The one that left the earliest after the signal to retreat was given was the Pan Turtle Alchemy Ship.

The Elemental Hand was totally pissed off when they saw the people invading Alchemy City retreat, but the archangel continued to wreak havoc with the metal angels. If they sent men to pursue Saleen’s party, all magic towers within the city except the level ten ones would be destroyed.

While both Saleen and the Grand Duke felt pained for the tens of thousands of their men left behind in the city, they dared not turn around to rescue them. They brought the thousands at the edge of the city and met up with the army outside, about 50,000 of them leaving.

The bug angel army of 220,000 strong was reduced to meager numbers. Grand Duke Iron Blood suffered quite a loss.

Saleen’s bug angel army consisted of only 20,000 units, losing about 3000 at the very last minute, with the final numbers about 16,000. The result of the battle looked fairly good.

Grand Duke Iron Blood and the others dared not hold themselves back when they were at the edge of the city. Imposa took out a magic metal shell of a diameter of over ten meters and stuffed it in the walls, letting a puppet detonate it.

One magic metal shell cost the same as making hundreds of scrolls. However, it was extremely difficult for hundreds of scrolls to be used at once, unless they were used inside a magic net and commanded by a single person.

The 50,000 people fought all the way from inside the city and destroy a section of the city wall, opening the path for the Bug Angel Warriors that were injured and incapable of flight.

Many of the suits of bug angel armor had their wings cut, burned, or blown up by magic, making repairs almost impossible.

“Nailisi, get us out of here.” Saleen called and Nailisi leapt from the Floating City.

The chaos of the city remained. A magic army gathered at the north side of the city, but they were not out for Saleen and his party, but to take on the archangel. The miscalculations of the elders of the Elemental Hand allowed the archangel to break the battle’s rhythm.

As soon as the War Drum of Fear stopped playing, the Bug Angel Warriors and the Iron Blood Warriors looked as if they had been robbed of all their strength, almost falling limply onto the ground. Their mental powers were exhausted.

It was fortunate that both Saleen and Imposa were still around. Both of them continued to throw magic scrolls and cast status magic in a large area. The Floating City crashed down from above. Nailisi opened the 12 Notes of First Purgatory and had the Bug Angel Warriors get inside.

Retreat would take time. Even if all of the tens of thousands had been capable of flight, it would still take them about half an hour.

The Elemental Hand was unable to sit well with the turn of events. They mobilized mages from the west of the city, intending to hunt Saleen’s party. Saleen was unable to contain his laughter. A group of mages pursuing tens of thousands of bug angels? Are you sure they aren’t walking to their graves?

Three thousand Bug Angel Warriors stood before the group of mages under the Grand Duke’s orders. Their transparent wings rattled and buzzed, making it difficult for anyone within earshot to concentrate.

A group of 1,000 mages chased them to the hole in the wall pn the west side. The level ten mage trainer who was taking the lead gulped when they saw the 3000 bug angels before them.

They actually fought each other. The Grand Duke smirked coldly. “Looks like we can’t count on Alchemy City to take out the calamity about to hit Myers Mainland. The mages, they’re all…”

“Fallen,” Imposa said. He looked at the injured Bug Angel Warriors entering Nailisi’s collection of purgatories. “Grand Duke, let’s just get up to the Floating City and get out of here.”

The Grand Duke looked at Saleen, who nodded. They were unable to figure out much on the Floating City. Despite being a master alchemist, Imposa was unable to calculate one-ten-thousandth of the rules of Floating City.

The assault was disappointing to Saleen and caused him doubt. His disappointment came from not being able to use everything he prepared. He had the intention of going all out, but Alchemy City miscalculated and things turned out very badly for the city instead.

If he knew that that was how Alchemy City would have turned out to be, he would have taken the place all on his own!

But Saleen was able to deduce that if Alchemy City had been able to craft an angel of fear, that meant that Alchemy City knew of an ancient ruins as well. That ancient ruins would at least have elemental creatures.

He was a king and the Imperial City of the Abyss was too dangerous, but that was not the case with Alchemy City.

If Alchemy City had been able to find ruins that had few dangers lurking within, they might have moved all of their important figures there.

It was a pity that his spy in Alchemy City was able to find nothing. His deduction came from the appearance of the angel of fear alone.

Bug Angel Warriors who were unhurt flew up, and the Alchemy City’s territory was unable to keep Saleen from bringing the Bug Angel Warriors under his protection. Saleen’s territory finally fully expanded outside the city.

The Floating City descended, reaching about 10,000 meters from the ground. The Bug Angels all entered the darkness cast by the Floating City’s huge form.

The group of mages watched the bug angel army retreat and was unable to muster the courage to pursue them. They were unable to stop the people in the towers of the city. With them leaving the city, things could hardly turn out to be in the city’s favor.

Over 1,000 mages watched the warriors retreat. It was quite an insult to Alchemy City.

However, the fighting within the city was even more fierce and no one paid attention to them. The Elemental Hand immediately amplified the city territory’s power when they saw the Floating City to keep the city in the sky from dropping onto them.

The Floating City stopped midair and the mist looked increasingly thick, seemingly about to rain.

The Grand Duke said to Saleen all of a sudden, “Saleen, how about we scare them a little bit?” He pointed at the mages.

“Sounds fun.” Saleen took one look amused look at Imposa.

Imposa nodded, and the Grand Duke took the dragon down, charging at the mages with over 200 Bug Angel Warriors following closely behind. Saleen invoked Quickcloud, and Imposa got his metal cog running. All three of them charged at the mages without a care.

The purple-gold dragon on the crotch of Grand Duke Iron Blood roared at the mage group. The mages shuddered and retreated. The Grand Duke laughed out loud and lowered his altitude to several hundred meters with his dragon spear in hand, before diving at breakneck speeds.
