Chapter 150: Return to the Rift
Gu Fan nodded in satisfaction, then turned his gaze toward the Zheng Brothers.
“Seems like you two still have something to say?”
Upon hearing Gu Fan’s words, the Zheng Brothers’ expressions immediately changed.
They had originally intended to incite this Liao Tie to go up against Gu Fan, but who would have thought that after just a single encounter, Liao Tie had directly fallen to his knees?
Not only that, he had even knelt without a shred of momentum and begged for mercy, expressing his willingness to surrender.
This completely disrupted the explanation they had prepared.
To truly submit to Gu Fan? But who would willingly give up the carefree life of being a local tyrant?
However, if they didn’t surrender, they felt apprehensive. After all, Gu Fan had subdued Liao Tie with nothing but a single glance—how terrifying must his strength truly be? No one wanted to experience it firsthand.
At this moment, Zheng Hua mustered his courage and explained, “It’s not that we have objections. The western part of the city was built up together by our brothers who endured hardship with us. If we two just made the decision on our own like this…”
Gu Fan nodded at his words.
“I understand. You’re just unwilling.”
After speaking, he turned to Liao Tie and asked, “Are you familiar with the west side of the city?”
Liao Tie was momentarily stunned, then respectfully knelt down and replied:
“Before the Apocalypse, my company was located in the west side. I would say I know it quite well.”
Gu Fan nodded, smiling with satisfaction:
“Alright then, from now on, the west side will be under your control!”
Before the two could react, he raised his hand in a grabbing motion.
In the next moment, a massive pitch-black hand several meters wide materialized out of thin air and came crashing down on them!
“No! Wait, we agree!”
“Yes, we support you!”
But Gu Fan only sneered coldly:
“Opportunities are for those who are prepared. Too bad yours vanished in an instant!”
The Zheng Brothers never expected the young man before them to be so ruthless. Just because they didn’t immediately agree, he now sought to eliminate them outright!
Faced with the massive descending hand, confronted with this monstrous means, they could only erupt with all their strength!
“Gu Fan, you forced this!”
“You think we’re afraid of you? Brother Liao, let’s strike together. I don’t believe three Level 7 Evolvers can’t take down just one of him!”
Yet their outcries appeared utterly laughable in Liao Tie’s eyes. To him, the two were like ants trying to halt the march of an elephant—ridiculously absurd.
They even wanted to drag him down with them? Did they take him for a fool?
“Gentlemen, don’t blame me for not warning you. Farewell!”
In the next instant, the two didn’t even have time to utter another sound before being smashed to the ground by the black hand!
When the massive hand vanished, only two puddles of mangled flesh and blood remained on the spot, along with a giant palm print.
At that moment, Liao Tie felt immensely grateful for his decision. Had he not surrendered decisively, another puddle of gore might have been added to the scene.
Gu Fan gently blew a breath, and all the filth on the ground disappeared as though carbonized into nothingness.
“You’re not bad. You know how to read the situation and understand when to advance and retreat.”
Liao Tie kept his head lowered respectfully, kneeling without moving until Gu Fan gave further instructions.
“To be spared by the Boss is a grace from the heavens. From this day on, Liao Tie shall follow only your command!”
Indeed, one must always recognize the situation. Originally, the north and west parts of the city were in competition. But because Liao Tie had admitted fault swiftly and yielded to Gu Fan’s feet with no dignity to speak of—
He now survived and could even look forward to a better life.
Meanwhile, the Zheng Brothers had already turned to dust.
Gu Fan suddenly felt bored. Ever since arriving in the Zombie World, he had been an invincible existence.
Had he the leisure time, Gu Fan could have long unified this entire planet.
“Stand up. From now on, follow Xia Yan’s arrangements!”
“Remember, when I’m not around, Xia Yan is in charge of everything. If I return and find you harboring disloyal thoughts… hmph, I guarantee you’ll regret ever coming to this world!”
“Don’t worry, Boss. From now on, whatever Sister Yan says, I’ll follow without question!” Liao Tie clearly understood Xia Yan’s position and immediately expressed his loyalty.
Gu Fan still found it all dull, and with a flash of his figure, he disappeared before everyone’s eyes. Carrying a sack of Yuan Crystals, he passed once again through the Bronze Gate and returned to the familiar Rift Battlefield.
When he opened his eyes and clearly saw the surroundings, a look of confirmation appeared on his face.
“As expected, I can only return inside the rift.”
Gu Fan looked toward the distant remnants of battle—traces left behind when Ying Langtian had fought him.
He then turned and advanced toward an unknown direction, his divine sense sweeping constantly around in hopes of finding a living being.
Unfortunately, after advancing nearly several hundred li, not to mention cultivators, he didn’t even encounter any of those creatures from the Void Sacred Realm.
“Looks like when this world is about to shut down, all beings from both realms withdraw…”
Then the question arose—was Gu Fan to remain here, waiting endlessly for the next time the rift would open in order to leave?
Setting aside whether cultivation here could meet his needs, the mental strain of long-term solitary cultivation would be oppressive.
This was not the same as seclusion. Seclusion, as long as it wasn’t death-closed, still allowed one to exit and relax a bit if tired. But here, it was equivalent to solitary confinement.
Given enough time, Gu Fan feared he might go mad.
“The rift is this vast. I don’t believe there’s only one Spatial Node. I’ll keep looking—there might still be a chance!”
Gu Fan encouraged himself inwardly and began searching throughout the rift. Any location that seemed at all unusual, he investigated thoroughly.
On the first day, he discovered several Yuan Crystal veins inside the rift. Though not as precious as the Nine-colored Yuan Crystal Stone from before, it still amounted to a respectable haul.
A few more days passed as Gu Fan continued his search. This time, he found a low-lying area in a valley within the rift, brimming with spiritual energy.
Upon entering, he was surprised to find a vast expanse of precious Spiritual Herbs. Without a second thought, Gu Fan swept them all into his Storage Pouch.
Regardless of whether he could leave, anything in hand was not to be missed.
Seven more days went by. While scavenging once again, Gu Fan finally discovered traces of a living being!
The place was a lake where space was in disarray. Though it appeared like a lake, Gu Fan’s investigation revealed that the entire body of water was actually composed of spatial fragments.
These spatial fragments varied in size and were densely packed together. Because of the power of space, they continually pressed and fluctuated against each other.
From afar, it genuinely resembled a normal lake.
If someone careless were to jump in, they’d likely be sliced into ten thousand pieces by the countless spatial shards.
Even Gu Fan had broken into a cold sweat upon discovering it.
However, just as he was about to avoid the area, he detected faint traces of life within it.
Though faint, he was certain that some creature had recently passed through!
Thus, Gu Fan decided to stay and wait here for a while.
He had already been trapped in this rift for over half a month. At this point, even the appearance of a fierce beast for a grand battle would be welcome.
