“Leave it to me. You can go home to rest,” said Wang Yao to his mother.
Wang Yao sat at the table in the cottage and made himself a cup of tea. He felt relaxed as he was looking at his herbal field full of green.
Wang Yao has become more and more fond of the countryside lifestyle.
The next day, the herbal seeds he bought online had arrived. He didn’t plant them straight away—he needed to plan first. After all, he was going to plant many different types of herbs. He broke down the herbal field into squares, each was about 2 square meters. He planned to grow one type of herb in one square. With such a plan, he should be able to grow one hundred different herbs in one acre of land.
After he had completed planning, he started to plant the seeds. He had planted over 30 types of herbs all together by now, which was enough to complete the task. The next thing he needed to do was to water the herbs carefully. With more and more herbs being planted, he found that he didn’t have enough ancient spring water for them. And he was going to expand the herbal field.
I wish I could have more ancient spring!
He took a close look at the two licorice roots he planted: Ziyu and Wuteng. Ziyu didn’t require special conditions to grow, but Wang Yao planted it near his cottage for security purpose. He left some space near his cottage where he could grow more licorice roots in the future. Wuteng required more attention because it belonged to liana family. It had to climb onto a living object to grow as it was a licorice root. So, he planted Wuteng under the jujube trees.
The antidote herbs, moonlight herbs, shanjing, guiyuan, ziyu and wuteng were the six licorice roots Wang Yao had grown so far. He had developed some experience in growing licorice roots by now. He was aware that the speed of growth of the six licorice roots was different.
Wang Yao documented the growing process of each licorice root in a notebook, even though he had got the Catalogue of Magic Herbs.
It was dark by the time when Wang Yao had finished working in the herbal field. He packed up his things, locked the door and went home to have dinner. He got a phone call from the Volkswagen 4S store on his way home; they said that a few popular number plates were available for him to choose from. The manager from the store had picked a number plate on his behalf. Wang Yao agreed to pick the number plate the next day and go through all the relevant procedures.
“Okay, thank you very much,” Wang Yao hang up the phone. He told his family about the number plates at the dinner table.
“Are you going there by yourself? Haiqu is too far. How about you find some to keep you company?” said Zhang Xiuying.
“I’ll be fine. I’ve got the GPS. And I’ve been there once before,” said Wang Yao.
“Only once. Maybe you should ask your sister to go with you,” suggested Zhang Xiuying.
“She has to work,” said Wang Yao.
“How about Mingbao?” asked Zhang Xiuying.
“Mingbao has to keep an eye on his store. He’s got a business to run. He’s too busy to go with me,” said Wang Yao with a smile. He still promised to find someone to go with him the next day as his mother insisted.
The night started to become longer after winter had come.
Wang Yao returned to his cottage. He did some reading as usual before going to sleep, but his mind couldn’t shut down tonight after he turned off the light.
Now I have the magical system. I’ve got the contract, I created the herbal field, brew decoctions, made money and bought a car. I could buy a few properties in the town if I want to. It seems that my dream has come true and my life will become better and better. But what’s next? Continue to make a lot of money using the system or become a famous Traditional Chinese Pharmacist?
“Handle matters properly by arranging a suitable time.”
He suddenly thought about the sentence from Nan Hua Jing.
All that I’ve ever wanted is a peaceful life. Fame and money come and go. I should let it be. As for the system and the change it has brought to me, I should let it be too.
After thinking about what he had experienced and what his future could be, Wang Yao felt he had a better understanding of the scriptures he had been reading.
Soon, he fell into a deep sleep.
The next day, Wang Yao drove to Haiqu to pick his number plate after he had finished working in the herbal field and his breathing exercises.
“Drive safe! Don’t forget to ask someone to go with you,” said Zhang Xiuying.
“I know. I’ll leave the herbal field to you,” said Wang Yao.
“Sure, your herbs are safe with me,” said Zhang Xiuying.
Wang Yao didn’t ask anyone to go with him. He didn’t drive fast and the road was wide and quiet. He followed the route on the GPS to the 4S store in Haiqu.
The manager came out and went with Wang Yao to pick up the number plate and helped him to install it on the car. It was lunchtime when Wang Yao had picked his driver’s license and had gone through all the relevant procedures. The manager invited Wang Yao to have lunch with him.
“Sure, but it has to be my treat,” said Wang Yao.
Wang Yao was going to invite the manager for lunch anyway to thank him for arranging the number plate. The number plate was not just a random series of numbers but still considered a popular one. Tricks were required to pick a good number plate on the computer system. Wang Yao was very thankful when the manager offered assistance.
“Okay,” said the manager with a smile. He also wanted to get to know Wang Yao better.
The two of them entered a restaurant near the 4S store. Haiqu was near the ocean, so they ordered a few seafood dishes. Wang Yao didn’t drink any alcohol as he was going to drive after lunch. It didn’t take them long to finish their food, which didn’t cost too much money.
Wang Yao said goodbye to the manager after lunch and drove home.
As soon as he parked the car in front of his house, Wang Mingbao called him.
“Hello, Mingbao,” said Wang Yao on the phone.
“Are you at home?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“Yes,” replied Wang Yao.
“Good, I’ll come to you now,” said Wang Mingbao.
“Okay,” said Wang Yao.
Wang Mingbao came to the hill soon after Wang Yao arrived at his cottage.
“Come and try this tea,” said Wang Yao.
The tea was good. It was Qimen black tea from Tian Tu Yuan. Wang Yao had tasted it himself. Even people who had little experience in tea like Wang Yao could tell Qimen black tea was good.
“Nice tea, what tea is it?” asked Wang Mingbao.
“I’m glad you like it. Here are some more. Take it with you,” Wang Yao gave Wang Mingbao a small bucket of tea. Tian Tu Yuan gave Wang Yao 8 buckets of tea leaves altogether. He gave one to his parents and left the rest on the hill. He had quite a lot of Qimen black tea in the last few days.
“Qimen black tea is quite well-known and expensive. You are getting a life now!” said Wang Mingbao with a smile.
“So, why are you here?” asked Wang Yao.
“I heard there are some troublemakers in the village,” said Wang Mingbao.
“I see,” Wang Yao felt touched. This was his so-called “best friend forever”.
