Chunibyo in Cultivation World

Ch. 23

Chapter 23: How Can Five Intentions Be Enough? Must Be Three Thousand!

“Master, Master, what is this chain reaction?”

“How do you understand E=mc²? The multiplication factor, mass…”

The Book Spirit stared at the contents of the Heaven-Origin Dao Foundation Method, completely absorbed.

Carrying these doubts, it would occasionally ask Li Tianwei questions.

As for Li Tianwei, he was fully immersed in figuring out how to modify the Five Intentions Converge to Heaven Art, patiently explaining each of the Book Spirit’s questions as they came.

Listening to Li Tianwei’s various novel ideas and the way he combined all sorts of bizarre data, the Book Spirit gradually began to understand and even started simulating the possible results of these operations.

Meanwhile, within Li Tianwei’s mind, the System watched these two research-obsessed fellows exchanging thoughts nonstop.

For a while, it was dazed.

Especially when it saw the Book Spirit suddenly chatting so smoothly with Li Tianwei, the System couldn’t help but sigh inwardly—this isn’t good.

After sensing the Book Spirit’s presence, the System—possessing immortal energy—could certainly see through Li Tianwei’s true condition.

And just as it had expected, the Book Spirit indeed saw through Li Tianwei’s False Spiritual Root.

Unfortunately, the System hadn’t thought that the Book Spirit would fail to wake up this single-minded fool Li Tianwei, or help him realize that he was a False Spiritual Root.

At least for now, the Book Spirit and the System were on the same front, both intending to help Li Tianwei gain a clearer understanding of himself.

So the System didn’t rush to interfere or expose itself before the Book Spirit.

It waited instead, planning to let the Book Spirit collapse under Li Tianwei’s bizarre line of thinking—then step in at that moment.

That way, it could even recruit the Book Spirit as a subordinate, and together they could resist Li Tianwei’s strange brain circuit to make him sober up.

However, at this moment, seeing the two of them chatting away like seasoned scholars, the System was beginning to panic.

This is supposed to be my future teammate! If he gets ruined now, I’ll be fighting alone forever!

【No, I must stop this!】

The System immediately made up its mind and began secretly sending messages to the Book Spirit.

It was fortunate that its host and the Book Spirit were linked; through Li Tianwei’s Divine Sense connection, it could communicate as well.

Thus, the System began sneakily contacting the Book Spirit.

【Celestial Art, Celestial Art…】

The System’s transmitted voice echoed within the Book Spirit’s consciousness.

But the Book Spirit, completely engrossed in the new cultivation theorems with Li Tianwei, was far too busy.

While it kept drawing inferences and exchanging ideas with Li Tianwei, the System’s voice was entirely ignored as background noise.

When the System saw there was no response, it thought the data connection had failed and immediately tried to raise its volume.

Just then, after a long discussion between Li Tianwei and the Book Spirit—

“Amazing! So immortals can cultivate this way too? According to what you said, I simulated it once—it truly works, though the probability is a bit low.”

The Book Spirit’s voice carried visible excitement.

At that moment, the System was struck speechless.

It realized that what had once been its potential ally had just defected.

The System desperately wanted to shake both of their heads to see what on earth was inside them.

【Ugh, no, I can’t give up. There’ll be other chances. A False Spiritual Root is still a False Spiritual Root. He might be special, but that doesn’t mean some blind cat finding a dead mouse will work forever.】

【There’s still the Golden Core, the Nascent Soul. He can’t possibly keep breaking through endlessly without bottlenecks!】

That was what the System thought to itself.

As the System wallowed in its own inner drama and self-consolation, Li Tianwei and the Book Spirit remained completely unaware.

After a round of discussions, both of their impressions of each other improved slightly.

In Li Tianwei’s eyes, this Book Spirit wasn’t entirely useless—it could recognize its own flaws and even work on improvements.

That alone made it much better than the System.

The System, of course, received Li Tianwei’s thought, but having developed resistance to his twisted logic, chose to remain silent.

Meanwhile, the Book Spirit had originally thought Li Tianwei was just a reckless fool, an evil cultivator with a False Spiritual Root who had somehow infiltrated the human race.

Now, it had changed its view.

The corrections to the Heaven-Origin Dao Foundation Method, his unique ideas, theories, and data verifications—all of it proved this man truly had capability and insight.

In fact, according to its simulations, even an ordinary False Spiritual Root truly had a small chance of completing the Hundred-Day Foundation Establishment.

Even its previous master had never achieved that.

As a Celestial Art, the Book Spirit naturally had an innate pursuit of knowledge and perfection, and Li Tianwei’s theories resonated perfectly with its nature.

Its favor toward Li Tianwei skyrocketed.

Under this connection, both their minds sparked with the same thought—

Why not use this reasoning to completely revise the Five Intentions Converge to Heaven Art, to make it even greater?

“The Five Intentions Converge to Heaven Art condenses one’s Intent of the Dao, gathering Heaven itself to suppress all beneath it.”

“At its ultimate realm, one can take on the majesty of Heaven itself—oppressing others through sheer will and aura, subduing them without even lifting a hand.”

“In the past, Immortal Tianyuan used this very Celestial Art to dominate the world, repelling outer demons beyond the Heavenly Profound Realm. Among immortals of equal realm, none were his match.”

The Book Spirit recited the history of the Five Intentions Converge to Heaven Art and Immortal Tianyuan’s glory with great passion, sneaking glances at Li Tianwei’s expression as it spoke.

Seeing him deep in thought, it finally felt like it had regained some dignity.

However, what Li Tianwei was actually thinking was that this Five Intentions Converge to Heaven Art was rather underwhelming—probably because that so-called Immortal Tianyuan wasn’t much of a genius himself.

Li Tianwei sighed inwardly.

From the issues within the Heaven-Origin Dao Foundation Method and the Book Spirit’s short-sightedness, Immortal Tianyuan seemed rather mediocre indeed.

Still, Li Tianwei didn’t mind. If it was to be revised, it had to be done boldly.

Five Intentions?

Too few.

Double it—Ten Intentions?

He frowned.

No, doubling wasn’t enough.

What about a Hundred Intentions? A Thousand…

When he reached the idea of a Thousand Intentions, something clicked in his mind.

He slapped his hand and made a decision.

“The Great Dao numbers three thousand—how can there be only five Intentions?”

“At least three thousand Intentions! Since it’s about condensing Heaven, then Three Thousand Intentions fits perfectly!”

Once Li Tianwei had the idea, he immediately acted on it, pulling out a brush from his storage ring and writing on a sheet of paper.

‘Three Thousand Converging-Heaven Intentions’

The Book Spirit, who had been waiting for Li Tianwei’s reply, suddenly saw him so excitedly writing, and its consciousness instantly fell upon the words.

“Three Thousand Converging-Heaven Intentions?”

It was puzzled at first, then seemed to realize something and focused its awareness on Li Tianwei.

“Three Thousand Converging-Heaven Intentions… You mean to condense three thousand Dao Intentions?”

“Yes.”

Without hesitation, Li Tianwei nodded.

“What! Do you even know what that means?”

“Even Immortal Tianyuan spent hundreds of years condensing just five Dao Intentions. With those alone, he was already among the elites of the immortals.”

“And you actually want to condense three thousand? Ridiculous!”

The Book Spirit was utterly shocked.

In its heart, Li Tianwei seemed completely mad—both arrogant and insane.

“Are you out of your mind? You’re just a False Spiritual Root! Even if your comprehension is extraordinary, because of your poor innate aptitude, your affinity with Dao Intentions is far too low—you could never comprehend that many!”

As it spoke, it grew more agitated and accidentally voiced its true thoughts.

Li Tianwei, hearing it call him False Spiritual Root again, cast a sideways glance.

An invisible pressure fell upon the Book Spirit, which immediately realized something and fell silent.

“My aptitude isn’t something you can perceive. Three thousand Dao Intentions mean three thousand Dao Intentions. If the Great Dao truly numbers three thousand, then what are we cultivating for if we can’t comprehend them?”

“That’s why I said Immortal Tianyuan was lacking.”

Li Tianwei naturally wouldn’t bother arguing with a narrow-minded spirit.

“To revise it, we must go all out. Five Intentions are far too few.”

Li Tianwei had already made his decision.

As for the Book Spirit, faced with his overwhelming pressure, it could only submit.

“As expected of my Master—if we are to cultivate, then we must do it to the extreme. Five Intentions truly aren’t enough. We must have Three Thousand.”

The Book Spirit, recognizing Li Tianwei’s insane thought process but cowed by his authority, chose to compromise and flatter him.

Inwardly, however, it thought—once Li Tianwei failed to condense them and died of old age, it would simply find a new master to pass on the Five Intentions Converge to Heaven Art.
