Someone had locked out all the memories of the dragonborn, as well as the other worlds, from the minds of most humans, and they had only left the dragons in their memories. But once Jason mentioned these things to Liam, he was able to unlock those memories and return them to Liam. This meant that whoever had done this wasn't powerful enough to lock memories forever, and anyone who had their memories locked only needed to be strongly reminded of the things they already knew, and the memories would come back.
Jason patted Liam on the back and spoke.
"Try to get some rest and don't let this get to you. I'll get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, help me finish off the permit for the Gate raid and keep an ear open for anything regarding the New Order, alright?"
Liam was still in slight shock as he held his head with one hand, but he still managed to nod to Jason that he understood, and Jason thanked him before he activated [King's Substitute] and vanished from the SMD building.
…
[Beijing, China.]
[American Embassy Hotel]
The American Embassy in China was located in a secure area that was guarded by various soldiers around the clock. There was a large fence surrounding the building, and high-ranking superhumans from the Enforcers could be seen in various hidden positions that would allow them to attack any intruders before they could even get close to the building!
Right now, there were more soldiers and superhumans around the building than ever before, and there was even a large magical forcefield that formed a dome over the structure for extra protection! The dome was an S-Rank defensive artifact that had been acquired from a Giant Tortoise Gate Boss known for its extremely high defensive stats. Before anyone could even think of breaching these defenses, they would have to be at least as strong as one of the Rulers!
The reason for all this protection was rather simple. Inside this building at this very moment was one of the most important men to ever walk the Earth. This man wasn't even a superhuman, but he held enough power to move an entire army of superhumans with only one call, and his administrative authority was greater than what any president could ever hope to have. His name was Cersai, and he was the head of the planetary defense organization, Gaia.
There weren't many times when Cersai could actually lie down and sleep. In the past four days, Cersai had been moving around the world constantly due to the number of issues that arose from the appearance of the dragonborn from Radagan, and in that time, he had only managed to get thirty minutes of rest every day. So today was the first time in nearly seventy hours that he would be getting more than two hours of sleep!
Cersai was lying inside a room that looked more like a bunker than an actual bedroom. The walls were made from mana-infused steel that would be difficult for even the strongest superhumans to break through. There were lasers on the window that prevented anyone from getting in from there, and a 360-degree defense system monitored the room at all times, ready to fire mana lasers at anyone who dared to enter unannounced! There were even superhuman guards standing outside the door of the room with guns that had been modified with magic stones and were powerful enough to be lethal to anyone below S-Rank!
But even with all these defenses and precautions, the superhumans failed to consider one thing — how would they stop an enemy that could literally bypass all the defenses that had been set up with a power beyond their understanding? Someone with the ability to use a mana-free technique that allows them to appear and disappear without any warning.
A figure in black rose from the shadows within Cersai's room, and the camera immediately honed in on the figure! A loud alarm echoed through the building as the camera detected the intruder, but before it could fire, the figure threw a sai toward it and shattered the camera in one move!
Cersai's eyes instantly opened once he heard the intruder alert, and he pulled out a massive rifle from under his pillow at the same time that the door to the room burst open!
Slam!
"Sir!"
The two superhuman guards charged into the room, but they were shocked when they saw a man in black holding Cersai's rifle to one side while pinning him down with his hand on his face! The superhumans immediately pointed their guns at the intruder and told him to get away from Cersai, but before they could do anything, the man pulled Cersai into the shadows and vanished!
The superhumans were shocked, and they quickly started making calls to the superhuman alarm squad! They had to form a search party and sweep the perimeter immediately!
"The Director was kidnapped!"
…
Two figures rose from the ground within the living room of Jason's house, and Cersai grunted as he was thrown to the floor roughly! Cersai looked back at the one who had thrown him, but he didn't recognize this person. The man was wearing a black outfit that covered his face, and from the man's outfit, Cersai could only presume that he was some sort of assassin!
Cersai eyed the man carefully before he looked around the house. He recognized this place. Wasn't this the house he had furnished recently? Yes, this was Jason Marc's house.
"You know, you make it really hard to like you, Cersai."
A voice came from in front of Cersai, and Cersai quickly turned to see Jason sitting on the floor in the middle of the living room with his legs crossed. Jason was shirtless, and he was wearing simple black joggers with no shoes. There was water dripping from his hair, so it was obvious that he had just gotten out of the bath. But Jason wasn't even looking at Cersai. Instead, he was staring down at a black drawing on a paper in front of him. There was a thoughtful look on Jason's face as he studied the paper closely, and Cersai slowly rose from the floor and dusted himself off to appear more presentable.
Cersai was wearing a pair of white pajamas, and if he were anyone else, he would have looked very silly standing there like that. But Cersai was not just anyone, so he could retain his dignified appearance even in simple pajamas.
Cersai spoke up while putting his hands behind his back.
"I thought you were better than this, Jason. I'm ashamed to see that you've reduced yourself to nothing more than a simple thug who kidnaps people when they're trying to sleep. Your father would be disappointed in you."
Jason turned his head slightly so he was eyeing Cersai from the side, and Cersai felt a strange fear pass through him when he saw Jason's empty eyes staring right at him. There was something dangerous in that gaze — something Cersai couldn't even put his finger on!
Cersai already knew Jason to be an easygoing person who had a lot of love for his family and those around him, but Cersai realized that this man was not the same easygoing person he had met just a few hours ago. He had to find out what Jason was planning..
Cersai was about to speak, but Jason raised a single finger to silence him.
"Just stay right there and keep quiet. I'm almost done with this."
Jason refocused on the paper in front of him after giving this simple command, and Cersai had no choice but to stand where he was and watch silently.
