Chapter 53: The Second Generation White Crane, The Miraculous Word-Spirit

Jiang He opened his eyes and saw Zhong Honglian standing before him, a chill running down his back.

Had Teacher Zhong suddenly appeared here to arrest him?

No, if his identity as the World Destroyer had been exposed, the one standing here would not be Zhong Honglian, but the entire Council of Transcendents...

Just as Jiang He grew tense, Zhong Honglian displayed the file in her hand.

“Jiang He, did you encounter a demon last night?”

“And it even told you, ‘the World Destroyer has been born’?”

“Yes.” Jiang He nodded, feeling the boulder in his heart finally fall.

So Zhong Honglian had come because of the demon.

As for how she knew what the demon had said... Jiang He had already written down every word the bat demon had spoken in his report, not hiding a single line.

After all, it wasn’t as if others couldn’t uncover the truth of last night. If he tried to play clever and conceal the information about the World Destroyer, he might leave loopholes instead. It was better to write it openly.

Could anyone really deduce that he himself was the World Destroyer?

As expected, Zhong Honglian sensed nothing unusual.

She did notice the tension Jiang He was trying so hard to hide, but she paid it no mind.

When was he ever not nervous? She was already used to it.

Compared to that, Zhong Honglian was focused on another matter.

“Even the Abyssal Demons value it so highly, calling it the ‘Enemy of All Living Beings’...” Zhong Honglian’s delicate brows furrowed slightly as her gaze shifted: “Jiang He, what do you think?”

“Me?” Jiang He realized she was actually asking White Crane.

But White Crane had already returned; the only one by his side now was Old Jiang, who was sitting on the desk, crossing his furry legs while scratching at his foot...

Jiang He pondered for a moment before saying: “Very terrifying.”

“Terrifying?” Zhong Honglian mused, nodding: “I see.”

See what?

Jiang He was confused, but then noticed another matter.

In his report, he had written 【Boundless Abyss】—the bat demon’s original words.

But just now, Zhong Honglian had spoken of 【Abyssal Demons】.

Jiang He couldn’t help but ask: “Teacher Zhong, you already knew of the demons’ existence?”

“Of course. Didn’t he tell you?” Zhong Honglian casually tossed the file aside. A thread of flame rose, burning it into ashes that vanished.

She said: “The difference isn’t great. If you listened properly in class, you should know the key event dividing ancient history and modern history.”

“I know. The 【Sinking of the Peninsula】 incident—in 1968, the battle of several A-rank Transcendents destroyed what was once the Cape Peninsula, forming...” Jiang He’s breath hitched: “The Abyss Strait?!”

By Zhong Honglian’s meaning, the ‘Abyss’ in Abyss Strait referred to the 【Boundless Abyss】?

“That’s right.” Zhong Honglian nodded: “The exact cause is impossible to verify now. We only know that after that battle, a spatial rift appeared in the depths of the Abyss Strait.”

“The place it leads to is what we call the 【Abyss】, domain of the demons.”

“Back then, countless demons poured out from within. Their vitality was monstrous, their strength overwhelming, and their nature bloodthirsty...”

“Fortunately, the Abyssal Rift only opened for a time before closing again, and the demons that emerged were all eradicated by us.”

“The Prophet foretold that in the future, it would open again.”

“To this day, Transcendents of the Council remain stationed at the Abyss Strait, maintaining vigilance.”

So there was such a secret?

Jiang He glanced to the side.

Old Jiang slapped his thigh: “Seems like I’ve heard of that... but in my timeline, the Ultimate Beasts were already about to conquer the entire planet, humanity on the brink of extinction—nobody cared about any abyss.”

“In White Crane’s timeline, maybe the Abyss went completely dormant... that’s not our ‘possibility.’”

Is that so?

If the Abyss could truly lay dormant, why would it still fear the World Destroyer?

But Old Jiang had never communicated with White Crane, so such a thought was normal.

Jiang He felt that if White Crane were here, he might say something like, “Who cares how many ants get stepped on.”

“The rift has long since closed. Even if some fish slipped through back then, it’s impossible they’ve stayed hidden until now...” Zhong Honglian said: “That boy who found the statue on Yinyin Road—shall we go take a look together?”

“Me?”

Jiang He hadn’t expected Teacher Zhong to invite him along.

But he truly was curious about the Abyssal Demons, so he agreed without hesitation.

Following Zhong Honglian outside to the training grounds, she pressed her hand onto his shoulder, and golden flames spread.

As a golden-red heatwave engulfed his vision, Jiang He felt himself soar into the air. In just moments, as the flames dispersed, he was already standing on Yinyin Road.

Yinyin Road was a small street near a junior high school, with many bicycles parked by the roadside and pedestrians passing by.

When they saw Zhong Honglian’s iconic red hair, it was like spotting a celebrity, and cries of astonishment rang out.

“It’s Principal Zhong!!”

“The Blazing Red Lotus!”

Zhong Honglian gave them a small nod and said: “It may be dangerous here. Please leave for now.”

The moment she spoke, the onlookers who had just been exclaiming took to their heels, scattering like startled birds and beasts. Even the owner of a small restaurant by the street slipped away, leaving the door wide open.

Such was the deterrence of a top A-rank.

Once the crowd had dispersed, Zhong Honglian released golden-red radiance, covering the entire road in a simple blockade.

Her gaze then fell to the roadside.

“There’s actually such a thing...”

“What thing?”

Jiang He followed her gaze but only saw paving stones.

He activated his Spell Word, stacking it with 【Lingering Echo Lv3】, giving himself four layers of “See Through.” Yet even so, he still saw nothing.

Until Zhong Honglian brushed her finger across the air, pressing sharply, piercing the void.

Only then did he realize—a palm-sized pitch-black fissure was hidden at the roadside!

This was... an Abyssal Rift?

It wasn’t in the depths of the Abyss Strait, but here, in Central State City!

Could it be that the demon statue that boy had picked up last night had fallen out from here?

At that moment, Zhong Honglian withdrew her right hand from the fissure and said: “I’ll go in and take a look.”

As soon as she spoke, her figure twisted, transforming into a golden lotus of fire, slipping into the fissure and vanishing in an instant.

“Teacher Zhong?!” Jiang He called out, but there was no response.

Staring at the rift, his eyes were full of hesitation and curiosity.

Truthfully, he wanted to go in as well. With Teacher Zhong’s protection, it should be safe.

But he didn’t have the ability to transform into flames. With a fissure only palm-sized, he couldn’t squeeze in.

So Jiang He turned his gaze toward Old Jiang.

“Old Jiang...”

Old Jiang chuckled and shook his head: “You really are a handful. Fine, I’ll go take a look.”

As he spoke, he reached his hand toward the rift.

“Wait.” Jiang He stopped him, saying: “Can you transform? Change into the masked White Crane—smooth your hair out, make it white, change into another outfit as well...”

Jiang He absolutely didn’t want, in Zhong Honglian’s eyes, the number of people at his side to go from ‘one’ to ‘many.’

That would be far too abnormal.

Fortunately, Old Jiang did have a transformation ability. After some adjustments, a “White Crane” appeared, though his smile was a bit too sunny.

But since he’d be masked anyway, facial expression didn’t matter.

After finishing the adjustments, “White Crane” said: “I’m heading out.”

With that, he walked to the fissure and spoke:

“Open.”

As he spoke, he extended his hand into the fissure and drew upward.

What had originally been palm-sized was forcibly torn open, expanding until it was large enough for a person to pass through!

“White Crane” grinned: “Not bad, right? This Word-Spirit of mine?”

He said this as he stepped into the rift.

As his figure completely vanished, Jiang He leaned in curiously, ready to take a closer look.

At that moment, a voice rang in his mind.

“Close.”

From inside the rift stretched a right hand, thumb and index finger pinching at its edge, pulling it down.

The Abyssal Rift that had been ripped open was actually forced shut again!

Reduced back to palm-size, the right hand withdrew.

Jiang He: “...”

Was this Word-Spirit of yours really correct?
