Chapter 693: Khan vs. Axe

The bright lights cascaded down at the big platform in the middle of the venue. It was time for the finals of each block.

The music played from the speakers, and amidst lights, Khan and Axe walked up to the platform, dressed in their loose uniforms.

Khan looked loose and relaxed. He was hopping in one spot, his arms loosely swinging in front of him.

Axe pushed his right fist against his left hand. He then bowed respectfully. After that, he straightened his back and took his stance.

With microphone in hand, the referee walked up the steps to the platform and inhaled deeply before starting the introductions.

"It's time!

"We have two powerful fighters left in the first block, who fought their way to the finals, and the one advancing through this round will meet the champion of the second block!

"We have Khan from the Ok Family Dojo, who easily made it through all his opponents, and it is clear that he still has plenty left to show!

"And then we have Axe from the United Arts Dojo, who had impressed everyone with his insane speed. No one has found a counterattack towards his speed just yet!

"Will Khan be the one to finally defeat his speed?"

The referee said, then put the whistle in between his lips, and looked at the two fighters to see whether they were ready.

They were very much ready, as they were only looking at each other without caring about any other distractions.

"WHISTLE~"

Axe accelerated straight away like blazing lightning and smashed through Khan with a thunderous impact!

The impact sent Khan flying across the air with blood flying out of his mouth, but before falling outside the platform, he turned in the air and landed back on the mat.

"Ptui…"

Khan spat out the blood and then wiped his bloody lips with his sleeve.

"Whistle~ One point to Axe!"

The referee shouted.

"Yes!"

"Go Axe!"

"You can do it, son!"

Axe's family was excitedly cheering for the young prodigy of their family.

They couldn't quite understand how someone like Axe came from their bloodline with his incredible talent for speed.

It wasn't like they had any ancestors who were known for their prowess, and it wasn't like they taught Axe how to be fast from a very young age.

He just was from the very first moment that he was able to walk on his two feet.

"He is ridiculously fast."

Jock said.

"…For someone of his age, definitely. There is still a way to counter that speed, and all you need to do is use his speed against him."

Kiernan said.

'His speed against him…'

Jock rubbed his chin thoughtfully and then looked around for Cleo but saw that she was sitting slightly further away from them.

She was preparing for her own match against Lumian, and since she knew just how strong he was, she was trying to mentally prepare herself for a very difficult match.

It was going to be an immensely large mountain that she would have to cross to somehow beat Lumian.

At the platform, the match heated up, and Khan rained blows down at Axe, who kept dodging with his insane speed.

The punches whizzed past Axe, who looked calm with a small smile on his lips.

In that moment, Axe slipped past Khan using his insane acceleration, circled behind him, and tried to land a sneaky hit at his back, but then, Khan spun his elbow behind him.

The elbow came from nowhere, and thus, it landed at Axe's cheek, sending him sliding down the mat.

"Whistle~ One point to Khan!"

In the board, Khan received one point, and Axe's total point count dropped to zero, shockingly enough.

It was a ruthless system.

"You arrogant prick, how does my elbow taste?"

Khan asked with a grin.

"Heh~"

With a smile, Axe charged at him—he moved like an arrow, and his fist was the tip—it was a quick attack, but Khan immediately responded with a tackle.

He was planning to take Axe down to the ground so he wouldn't be able to use his speed.

However.

Axe expected that and suddenly decelerated. It was instant. He dodged Khan's tackle and saw him stumble forward with a shocked look.

"You are as clumsy as an ogre!"

Axe punched Khan across his face and sent him rolling down the mat with a loud thud.

The rolling came to an end close to the edge, and Khan climbed back to one knee with a bloody nose.

'Axe is capable of accelerating and decelerating in an instant. It makes him a really troublesome opponent to deal with.'

Kiernan thought to himself.

"Whistle~ One point to Axe!"

Again, the roles were reversed, with Axe now having one point and Khan dropping back to zero points.

"Huff! Huff! Huff!"

Khan pushed through his burning lungs and charged at Axe with wide and wild swings that seemed barbaric.

Axe, for a moment, dodged the wild strikes, but then he raised his forearm, blocked one wide punch, and kicked at Khan's right knee, which buckled beneath him.

Khan suddenly started leaning forward because of the loss of balance, and Axe smashed his palm into his face.

SMACK!

The palm strike pushed Khan's head back.

"Whistle~ One point to Axe!"

It was now two points to zero!

"Argh!"

Khan suddenly wrapped his arms around Axe's body and started pushing him towards the edge of the platform.

Axe's feet kept sliding across the mat as if he were in the ice rink, and at the last moment, he barely came to a stop before tumbling over the edge.

"Hmph!"

Khan swung his fist, and it landed at Axe's ribs. Crack. Axe gasped in pain, and something definitely broke.

"Whistle~ One point to Khan!"

And just like that, it was back at the tie, with both fighters having one point each!

"Time to end this!"

Khan grinned and put more effort into the tackle, planning to push Axe straight off the platform and earn two points to win this match.

Those knowledgeable about the Ok Family Dojo knew that they were powerful tacklers, so most of them thought that Axe was in a doomed situation.

Yet, Axe still managed to utter a grin, and at that moment, his feet started shuffling rapidly, and slowly, he started pushing Khan back!
