"This will be over in a heartbeat. Cleo should change with Jock immediately unless they want to lose!"
"That's right! With Lumian's throws, he will crush Jock like a bug. This is a really dangerous game they are playing if they don't change!"
"It doesn't look like they intend to change!"
The crowd talked among themselves.
'This is the final proving ground.'
Kiernan thought to himself from over the bleachers.
Lumian smiled and moved forward like an unstoppable force of nature.
His right hand, closed in a tight fist, was right beside his waist, and his feet were in perfect rhythm with the beating of his heart.
The distance shrank between the two. They met at the center of the ring. The two of them exchanged a glance.
"Ok Family Style, Strike Mayhem!"
First came a straight punch. Jock lowered his chopping hand down at Lumian's fist and parried it with power!
Lumian immediately followed up with a cross. It got parried. He pressed on and tried a front punch.
Jock caught the fist at first, but he kept the contact at Lumian's hand with a twist, then pushed it down to grab his wrist and pulled him forward off-balance.
Lumian's knees buckled, but he just smirked and uppercut-punched towards Jock's ribs. He put his arms in the way.
The punch landed hard against his arms, and Jock winced in pain with his feet sliding backwards.
"Huff! Huff! Huff!"
Jock shook his trembling arms.
It felt like the bones in his arms almost shattered because of the punch.
It was scary just how strong Lumian's attacks were, and that's why he shouldn't be blocking.
However, he didn't really have any other choice.
Lumian led him into a situation where he just didn't have enough room to parry his attacks effectively.
It was very smartly played by Lumian.
"You are not done yet, are you, Jock?!"
Lumian shouted and swiped his hands down at Jock. His hands looked like claws. He was going for a grab!
Jock put his forearm in the way. Lumian grabbed his arm with a smirk and started twisting it, trying to force Jock down on his knees.
In that moment, Jock risked it all.
The fear, hesitation, and nervousness all got washed away like rain washing down the window from all its grime.
Jock pressed on—he went really close to Lumian—he was very much in a zone where Lumian was at his best.
However, he did not care.
"Iron Style, Knee Strike!"
Jock brought up his knee and smashed it into Lumian's abdomen. It made him double over, a look of pain flashing across his face.
This wasn't a defensive counter anymore.
It was simply offensive!
'He… attacked me?'
Lumian stumbled back, not expecting that in the slightest.
That knee really rocked his world. His abdomen felt weird, like it was on fire, and his insides felt like they were being twisted into knots.
It was a really damaging kick!
"Gasp!"
The crowd gasped, barely able to believe their eyes.
The weakest student of their class, Jock Song, was actually putting up a fight against the young prince of the Ok Family, Lumian?
"Unbelievable…"
Cleo whispered under her rapid breathing.
"…"
Jock rooted himself back in the Iron Style stance, and while he looked nonchalant, he was internally screaming in pain.
His right knee—which he used to kick Lumian—was actually broken.
It was simply too destructive and powerful a technique to be used by a Martial Recruit youngster, and Jock's physical conditioning was nowhere close to surviving that.
His leg barely resisted when he did that first against Oritori, but not the second time around.
While he didn't actually know how to do Knee Strike technique, as Kiernan didn't teach him that, the stance was guiding him on how to best move.
It helped him to execute Knee Strike to absolute perfection—and that was a bad thing—it would've been better to be able to just use an ordinary knee kick.
Knee Strike technique was stronger than just an ordinary knee kick, but because of that, he couldn't really move his right leg anymore.
He kept his look of pain hidden, but he knew that it wouldn't take long for Lumian to notice that something was amiss.
'We should probably change…'
Jock thought with a pained look and thought about heading to the ropes, but in that moment, Lumian lunged in with a painful grin on his face.
"That is very good! Good! Let's do our best, Jock!"
The space between the two disappeared. Lumian pressed on with jabs and hooks. They met Jock's parrying hands.
In that moment, another one of Lumian's hook punches came, moments away from resoundingly smashing across Jock's face.
But at the last moment, Jock brought his hand to parry. However. Lumian stopped his punch and kicked low.
The low kick landed at Jock's right leg… Barely under the knee…
"?!"
Jock's body burned with the fire of pain. His leg felt like it was burning with hellfire. It was unimaginable pain.
He wanted to cry out in agony. He wanted to drop to the ground and clutch his leg in pain. Standing alone was the worst feeling ever.
'…He didn't dodge that simple low kick?'
Lumian thought with a frown.
He hadn't noticed the broken state of Jock's knee. It was just extremely bad luck that he happened to aim his next attack there.
He expected Jock to just move his leg back to dodge the kick, but because it was broken, he could not do that.
"Argh!"
Jock swung his fist out of nowhere. It landed at Lumian's chin, right under his mouth.
Smack!
Lumian stumbled back, feeling the sharp pain radiate through his jaw.
"Ah…?"
He held his jaw in surprise, as he didn't expect Jock to suddenly punch, as it was his first time throwing a punch in this competition.
However, it was a really weak punch, nothing like his Knee Strike, which was heavy and powerful.
"Are you alright, Jock?"
Cleo asked.
She had noticed that something was really wrong with how Jock was acting, as that punch was weird.
It was a punch that was thrown angrily out of pain.
"…Let's change."
Jock said with a pained look in his eyes and started hopping towards the ropes on one leg, dragging his right leg behind him.
At that moment, the crowd noticed the horrible state that his right leg was in. The knee on that leg looked busted.
It was obvious to them that it was broken.
"He fought with a broken leg?"
"Did Lumian's kick do that? If so, why didn't he react more dramatically? I would be crying my eyes out if my leg got broken like that!"
The crowd said.
"Broken? I did not break it. How did it break?"
Lumian thought out loud to himself with a deep frown, and he didn't really want it to end like this.
He wasn't satisfied.
He hadn't defeated Iron Style yet. He wasn't anywhere close to doing that yet. If it ended like this, Ok Family Style was going to lose!
With gritted teeth, he lunged in and threw a punch at Jock. Jock turned his head around and panicked before putting his right arm in the way.
The punch rocked against the forearm of his right arm, the bones audibly cracking from the impact.
"Argh!"
Jock gritted his teeth with a hideous look.
"What are you doing, Lumian?!"
Cleo asked with a scream.
She couldn't jump into the ring yet, as they hadn't officially changed fighters yet. Jock must leave the ring first before she can jump in!
The crowd, Della, and every student were surprised at the way that Lumian was fighting currently.
He was considered a very honorable fighter, and this was something that was completely unexpected.
Jock was just putting his guard up, desperately trying to block Lumian's onslaught of attacks, which were smashing into his arms like sledgehammers.
In that moment, Lumian grabbed his arms, moved them out of the way, and then slashed his elbow across Jock's face.
Spurt!
A bleeding stretch of a wound appeared on Jock's face. It went from his forehead down to his chin.
Lumian then swung his fist. The hard knuckles of his fists smashed into Jock's face. Over and over again like a relentless machine.
Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!
It was a horrible sight, and the crowd had completely turned quiet while Cleo was begging him to stop.
"Argh!"
Lumian slipped his hand past Jock's wailing arms, as he was just panicking while trying to parry, and grabbed the collar of Jock's shirt.
In that moment, he lifted Jock up from the ground, and with bloody, gritted teeth, he smashed him down to the concrete ground.
The sound of a body smashing into concrete echoed across the gymnasium. It wasn't pretty to listen to.
"Whuff…"
Lumian breathed heavily.
In that moment, Jock was shaking on the ground. It was unclear just how many broken bones he had currently.
He was still trying to stand back up.
Lumian clenched his fist, reeled it back to finish this fight, but in that moment, Cleo jumped over the ropes and kicked him away.
"That's enough!"
Cleo screamed.
"Ah…"
Lumian stumbled to the side. The kick landed right at his head. It made him return back to the reality, and he saw what just happened.
"What… did I do?"
