Theron's power thrummed, the Ice Mana in the air making way for his Resonance. He stood like a beacon in the midst of the raging forest, his hair dancing wildly, his eyes glowing so brightly they seemed like two pointed blue stars.
His spear flowed, riding air currents almost as though forming waves of their own. He cast [Shadow Extend] in a continuous, violent cascade.
At the same time, he stripped the Ice Mana in the air of the Water Mana that formed its foundation and formed one [Water Bullet] after another.
Something in his body clicked as though a dam of floodwaters had been unleashed into the world.
It had been too long since he had truly gone all out.
So many people said that Ice Mana was superior to Water Mana. He had never once agreed.
Without Water Mana, there would be no Ice Mana. One was a foundational element of the world, while the latter was a mere phase change.
Theron was almost certainly smart enough to know that it wasn't this simple….
He just didn't care.
Theron took another step forward, his head tilting out of the way of a swooping bird-like Ice Spirit Beast.
He didn't even look at it as he swung out his spear in the complete opposite direction, piercing right through the jaw of a bear-like Ice Spirit Beast, up and out of the top of its skull.
The bird-like Ice Spirit Beast swept toward the ground, prepared to arch back up into the skies and attack again. But before it could, [Water Wrap] lashed out in a tendril from the ground, grabbing it by its neck.
The result was tragic, the neck of the bird snapping beneath its own strength. It tried to sweep back into the skies, only to tumble over the sturdy arm of the line of Water Mana.
Theron stomped a foot, roaring as he lifted his spear up and to the side.
The large body of the bear was swept out, smashing against a line of charging snow leopard Ice Spirit Beasts.
One attack flowed seamlessly into the next. The instant the corpse was launched from the tip of his spear, he had already pulled back and attacked again.
[Shadow Extend] took shape, forming ten blades that arched through the air.
Distracted by the flying corpse, the snow leopards practically presented their heads to the slaughter.
PUCHI.
Ten strikes, ten deaths, not a single wasted movement.
And that last part was truly the most shocking. It was like Theron was little more than a killing machine, every aspect of his being tied to slaughtering more efficiently.
It wasn't power—it was the utmost display of control.
None of that was proved more than when a beam of Ice Mana lasered through Theron's body. It looked from an outsider's perspective as though he had finally slipped up, getting too caught up in the immediate battle and failing to feel out the danger outside of his purview.
It was only to be expected. In an environment where you couldn't use your Third Eye to overlook the battlefield, getting into a battle with so many was a death sentence. Yet…
Theron cast [Shadow Flush] without even looking back.
His hair danced, it and his cloak of darkness forming a mesh that was hard to distinguish.
The beam seemed to pass through him, his dark cloak forming cracks, vein patterns of Ice Mana that were quickly overwhelming it.
Or so it seemed.
BANG.
WOOSH.
Fog of black and icy blue radiated from Theron. The beam only seemed to pass right through his body because it was directed along his black cloak and ejected out from the front of his body, wiping out lines of creatures before him.
[Shadow Step].
Theron vanished, lines of black clones forming vague humanoid figures in the air as he crossed it as though walking on air.
He moved so quickly, casting one [Shadow Step] after another that in what felt like a blink, he was already high above the creature that had attacked him.
A Humanoid Ice Spirit—an enormous cyclops with three heads. It stood at over four meters tall, a twin pair of clubs in both of its hands. Its middle head roared, its singular eye sizzling and popping with concentrated Ice Mana.
This creature was powerful. Its aura was, at the very least, at the First Ascended Cloud Resonance, the very same cultivation realm Patriarch Nightingale had been in.
The difference was that Patriarch Nightingale was, at best, a Lower Arcane Talent. This creature, however, had a Resonance of the Peak Arcane Grade.
Facing it even at the Touching Cloud Realm should have been a death sentence, let alone as a Silver Mancer.
Theron attacked it without a thought, his spear striking down from above.
Chi.
Theron's gaze flickered as his spear actually glanced off its head. He sensed the activation of a powerful technique, and he felt his blood boil.
Finally.
A creature that wouldn't fall to a single blow.
BANG.
Theron landed heavily on the ground, rolling out of the way of a swinging club and unleashing a violent aura of his own.
His Water and Dark Mana formed a swirl around the tip of his blade, and he slashed upward.
[Water Scythe] formed on the arc of his blade, [Shadow Extend] forming at the same time to reinforce the arc of sharpened waters with the power of his supreme treasure.
BOOM.
The cyclops Ice Spirit Beast hurriedly blocked with its other club, its toes grinding along the ground and forming deep trenches as it slid back.
Its three heads all looked toward Theron with menace, the aftereffect of their battle blowing the other Ice Spirit Beasts out of the way.
There was only the slightest pause before the two erupted forward.
Spear and clubs collided, Mana raging in the air as though fighting for supremacy.
Theron's arms practically blurred in the air, anyone watching him feeling as though his spear was more important than even they were.
'More.'
