Top-class Bodyguard

Chapter 46: Nine Yang Nine Tribulations

Fuqing City.

Ren Feng got off the train, and then boarded a car.

Two hours later, he arrived in Fuqing County.

All of Fuqing City isn't really developed, due to geographical reasons and national policies restricting the development of Fucheng Mountain, so the economy in Fuqing City is lacking.

This has resulted in a very small population in Fuqing City.

Once you get to Fuqing County, the population is even smaller.

The car door opened, Ren Feng got off and looked at the majestic Qingshan in the distance, feeling a sense of relaxation.

"I, Ren Feng, am back again!"

Ren Feng shouted, laughing heartily.

A mutt walked past Ren Feng, casting a rather arrogant glance at him, then strutted on.

What's with the arrogance, I've been around here for over twenty years and never got cocky. Why are you showing off?

"..."

Uh, well, Ren Feng rubbed his nose, having surprisingly been disdained by a dog.

Then, Ren Feng headed into the mountain, sitting on a flashy, rundown electric tricycle, and entered the mountains.

"Sir, your tricycle is quite something," Ren Feng chuckled.

"Of course," the old man laughed heartily, "I learned to ride this tricycle for a year, much better than that ox, obedient."

After finishing, he patted the fuel tank in front.

"Sir, how old are you this year?"

"Eighty-seven, and I feel quite young," the old man said with a smile.

Gosh, eighty-seven?

Ren Feng was taken aback, but soon understood; folks in Daqing Mountain generally live longer than those outside—the environment and food are purely natural and unpolluted.

While chatting with the old man, another hour passed, and the electric tricycle reached the Daqing Mountain.

Soon, Ren Feng saw a village nearby.

"Thanks, sir, this is my stop."

Ren Feng jumped out of the car.

"No need to thank me," the old man chuckled, then left.

Ren Feng looked at the village; it was as familiar as ever, nestled against a majestic mountain range. This was the heartland of the range.

According to the old man's words, this was a blessed place, the belly of a dragon, where the yin and yang of heaven and earth converge, perfect for living.

Ren Feng grew up in this village as a child, so he was extremely familiar with it.

Ren Feng walked up, and before getting close, a cacophony arose, and several dogs ran out.

The villagers also came out, and a woman, seeing him, couldn't help but smile: "Ah Feng is back."

"Mrs. Zhao, you look so young."

Ren Feng laughed.

"Oh, Ah Feng, where did you go? We haven't seen you for so many years."

Another forty-year-old man smiled, leaning on a hoe.

The other villagers also came out, with some holding children.

"Mrs. Yu, is this your second child?" Ren Feng asked curiously.

"Fourth," the woman holding the child said happily, and with that, three more kids ran out of the house.

Ren Feng: "..."

After greeting them, Ren Feng headed towards a house deep within the village.

The old man had said before that he settled down here with Ren Feng, not originally from this village, but having lived for over twenty years, he was very familiar with it.

In front of the house's courtyard was a green tree, growing tall. Under its shade, an old man was sitting, legs crossed, eyes closed, with a seventies-eighties era radio nearby playing crackling noises.

Aside from that, there was also a birdcage with several parrots hopping around inside.

In the tree there was also a monkey, seemingly raised by the old man. Next to him lay a big dog, eyes closed, tail moving lazily.

Ren Feng smirked, yet also felt a surge of familiar emotion; the old man had been like this when he was a child.

I wonder if the old man missed me.

Ren Feng's smile widened, ready to call out when suddenly, two parrots in the birdcage spoke up: "The little rascal is back, the little rascal is back."

Uh, is that referring to me?

Seeing the parrots chirping, Ren Feng was dumbfounded.

The big dog opened its eyes, glanced at Ren Feng, and closed them again.

"Back already? Go, bring me my teacup," the old man said.

Ren Feng smirked, went inside, and handed the teacup to the old man.

The old man paused, opened his eyes, stood up, and looked at Ren Feng.

Ren Feng wore a foolish grin.

"Old man, I'm back."

The old man in a Republic-era padded jacket nodded once, then turned away.

A trace of doubt flashed in Ren Feng's eyes; something seemed off with the old man—how could he just give a nod without a hug or anything?

However, Ren Feng saw the old man put the teacup down, grasp a rolled-up book, and suddenly swat it on Ren Feng!

"You little brat, you still remember to come back? How many times did I tell you? Once a year, send a letter, but you didn't send a single one." The old man scolded, his voice rising, each sentence followed by a thump on Ren Feng with the book.

"Hey hey hey, old man, take it easy, I came back, didn't I?" Ren Feng yelled, trying to dodge, but strangely, no matter how he evaded or defended himself, the old man's book always hit him, just like when he was a child.

"Hey, you little brat, you still got nerve?" the old man raised his eyebrows.

"Well, how could I send a letter? There's no courier service here," Ren Feng argued.

"Hmph," the old man snorted.

"Alright, old man, don't be mad. This time I'm staying with you for a while," Ren Feng laughed.

"Yeah, right. Do you think I don't know your thoughts? Tell me, what brings you here?" The old man sat back down on his chair.

Ren Feng sat beside him, chuckled and said, "Old man, do you want to take a look?"

He extended his hand.

"Hmph, knew nothing good would come from you, little rascal." The old man huffed, but placed his hand on Ren Feng's pulse. At that moment, the old man's expression changed dramatically.

In Ren Feng's eyes, the old man's presence transformed from that of an ordinary elder to a sharp sword, capable of cutting through everything!

"False fire burning the body, Nine Yang Nine Tribulations, once as a guide, the second tribulation appears," the old man murmured, his eyes shining with a terrifying light.

"Old man, is there something wrong?" Ren Feng asked tentatively.

The old man didn't answer, instead stood up: "Wait here for a bit, I'll go inside and think it through."

Watching the old man's back, Ren Feng was also filled with doubt.

The old man went inside, his imposing aura diminishing, and sighed: "Years ago, I, Han, owed gratitude to you two, and promised to raise this child. But never did I think that this child turned out to have the Nine Yang body and now, indeed, the Nine Yang Tribulation has appeared."

The old man furrowed his brows, pacing back and forth inside the house.

"Nine Yang body, Nine Yang Tribulation Vein, I tried to delay for so long, but didn't manage to avert it. But just now, while checking the rascal's pulse, it seemed he held on?"
