Top-class Bodyguard

Chapter 116: That Person Is You!

The atmosphere on this floor was somewhat eerie—clearly a commercial building, yet the corridor was deserted save for Ren Feng and Briar standing in front of the door.

Before them, the door that seemingly led to the club was tightly closed, but Ren Feng did not attempt to push it open. Instead, he watched Briar with a half-smile.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't this a trap?

Briar seemed slow to react, her face full of astonishment, her mouth still open in the midst of a hurried exclamation.

"Feng, Feng—what are you talking about? Laine is about to escape," Briar said anxiously.

"Don't worry, he won't get away," Ren Feng said lightly. "Because as long as you're here, how could he possibly escape?"

Ren Feng turned around, looking at Briar with a smile that was both frivolous and unfathomable, making him seem unreadable to everyone else.

This was exactly Briar's thought. Her heart trembled slightly, but she quickly composed herself, reverting to her previous aloofness.

"Feng, what do you mean?" Briar said coldly, looking at Ren Feng. "If you think I'm not capable enough or loyal enough, I might as well quit the Mercenary Corps. Why say such things about me?"

"No," Ren Feng's smile widened, "I'm not doubting you, but precisely because of you, it's a given."

Ren Feng leaned slightly forward, his presence exuding intense pressure.

Listening to Ren Feng's confident tone and watching his smile, Briar couldn't help but take a step back.

"Feng, I didn't expect you to be this kind of person—carelessly doubting your team members." Briar said coldly, "Fine, I will quit the Mercenary Corps today."

"No need to rush," Ren Feng said flatly, "let me tell you something."

"The first time I met you, I was leading a task to solve the Sodder Mystery, and that was the moment we encountered each other by accident."

Ren Feng said lightly, "If I recall correctly, I met you just when my conflicts with the Demon Mercenary Corps were escalating, a month after I eliminated the Demon Mercenary Corps, I saw you."

At Ren Feng's calm smile, Briar felt a sinking sensation, a sense of foreboding creeping in, yet her expression remained cold.

"So what? There's no connection between the two, right?" Briar said calmly.

"Of course, there's no direct connection. But combined with your identity, it does matter," Ren Feng said casually, his eyes as sharp as an eagle's!

"What's my identity?" Briar asked.

Ren Feng smiled slightly, "Demon Laine left the family early on and established the Demon Mercenary Corps. But as far as I know, another sibling left the family with him at that time—a sister. This sister didn't join Laine's Mercenary Corps but traveled extensively."

"Upon learning of the Demon Mercenary Corps' destruction, the sister went to the desert, rescued her brother, and began to plot revenge. For this plan, the sister joined my Wind Mark Mercenary Corps—waiting for the opportunity to kill me."

Ren Feng wore a faint smile, while Briar felt a chilling sensation at the core of her being.

Briar remained silent.

"This setup has been going on for a long time, starting even before you joined my Mercenary Corps, but you always struggled to find the right moment. My visit to Huaxia marked the perfect opportunity for you."

Ren Feng said lightly, "So, upon my return to Huaxia, I was ambushed by Laine repeatedly, obviously betrayed."

"Moreover, that person leaked all my details to Laine, even revealing my illness—as part of the plan to kill me."

Ren Feng looked at Briar, "That person is you!"

As those words fell, Briar felt the ambient temperature drop suddenly—all stemming from Ren Feng's murderous intent toward her!

Briar didn't speak, just stared at Ren Feng, while Ren Feng stared back at Briar.

"Briar, there's no need to uphold a facade now. I've already had the director investigate your background. Your real name is Amanda Laine, indeed Laine's sister."

Ren Feng began to slowly approach Briar, his killing intent surging wildly, fixating her with a lethal gaze.

Briar backed away slowly, her face steely cold, "When did you begin to suspect me?"

"Since Laine ambushed me for the first time. Besides you, no one else seems aware of my illness," Ren Feng squinted, "Though at the time, I wasn't entirely sure—all ensuing events indicated a traitor among us."

Briar laughed coldly, seemingly mocking, "Looks like my timing was too slow. I should have killed you before you found me out."

"Your schemes are certainly deep," Ren Feng said coldly, "you also have someone watching Chen Fenghuo. For my teammates' safety, you must die!"

Ren Feng's killing intent surged, causing Briar to grip her whip tightly, her entire demeanor shifting to that of a cornered adversary.

"Mercenary King, indeed, this revenge must be executed," Briar said coldly. "It's just a pity that you narrowly escaped peril multiple times‚ otherwise you'd all be dead by now!"

"Though you've figured it out, today you must die!"

As soon as her voice fell, suddenly, a loud boom erupted, as several black-clad figures charged out of the club, rushing directly at Ren Feng!

The number of black-clad figures was substantial, and their formidable skills were enhanced by a red glint in their eyes—a result of the same drug invented by Laine.

Ren Feng's killing intent surged as he looked at the approaching black-clad figures, his True Qi surging within him, and he aimed his fists at their necks!

This drug's weakness was in its neurological junctions; destroy their control centers and they'd become immobilized.

Several black-clad figures lunged forward as Ren Feng delivered a palm strike, his True Qi sending them flying.

Simultaneously, Ren Feng grabbed one of the stealth-attacking black-clad fighters, a palm strike to the neck sending the head flying.

Moving with the wind, Ren Feng darted among the group, his hands painting a picture of death with each move, ensuring that one black-clad figure fell with each strike!

For Ren Feng, who knew their weakness, these black-clad figures were defenseless.

In mere moments, these figures fell to the ground under Ren Feng's swift strikes.

Just then, Briar also attacked, her whip lashing through the crowd toward Ren Feng's back.
