Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 74: The Forgotten Past part 27

The angry soul unleashed by Aruma had the Ancestor's soul gripped by the neck and was forcefully pulling it out.

"Vi... Vivi, save this skill in the phantom simulator."

"The sword technique [Blade of Death – Angry Soul] is successfully saved under the folder name <Battle God Aruma>.

No more skill can be saved under this name until you delete this skill."

"It's fine. I don't need anything more than this."

"Wh-what kind of demonic sword technique is this?" the Ancestor muttered as more than half of his soul was nearly pulled out of his body.

He tried to push himself back into his body, but the gripping strength of the angry soul was far greater than he had imagined.

"People who can't fathom greatness either start revering it or fearing it. For the former, it becomes godly; and for the latter, it's classified as demonic," Aruma said as he stared at the Ancestor. "In the end, it's all about the perspective one uses to see it."

"Th-there's no way you are greater than me!" the Ancestor shouted. "I refuse to accept it!"

A crimson jade box emerged from the Ancestor's fur, and just as his soul was about to completely leave his body, the jade box opened and a fox spirit emerged from within.

The spirit waved its claws at the angry soul and sliced it into pieces. The Ancestor's soul merged back into his body as the angry soul vaporized into thin air.

"Huff... huff—this bizarre technique greatly damaged my soul. You will pay for it!" the Ancestor barked before ordering the fox spirit, "Subdue him!"

The fox spirit roared, and similar to what had happened in the arena, a suppressive Soulforce pressure descended upon where Aruma stood.

Aruma immediately planted his sword into the muddy ground and leaned on it to prevent himself from falling.

"No matter how great you are, you can't break nature's law. As long as fox blood flows through your veins, you will be suppressed by the fox spirit," the Ancestor laughed, and turning to the fox spirit, he added, "I don't care if you're completely consumed. Use all of your remaining energy to suppress him!"

The fox spirit glared at Aruma, increasing the pressure exponentially. Blood gushed from Aruma's facial orifices, and the muddy surface beneath him fractured with a jolt.

"Father!!" Gumiho shouted, rushing toward Aruma. However, she was immediately held back by Vyaghra before she could even leave the barrier.

"You will only get in his way," Vyaghra said. "And do you think Aruma wouldn't have predicted that something like this could happen? He is called the Battle God for a reason."

"But—"

"He is right, Ume. Have some faith in your father," Hana reassured before Gumiho could protest further.

Meanwhile, on the other side, that ghostly fox bolted toward Aruma on all fours, his fangs aiming for Aruma's neck.

As he was about to reach him, he flinched, sensing something, and immediately pulled his face back. Yet, a metal-cutting-flesh sound echoed, and one of the Ancestor's eyes was already gone, leaving a trail of blood down his face.

"So this is the maximum pressure the fox spirit left by the ancient goddess can exert?" Aruma questioned as he pulled the Ancestor's eyeball, stabbed on his katana, with his mouth.

"I'm somewhat disappointed," he declared, spitting the eyeball onto the ground.

"Im... impossible! How could you still move?" the Ancestor stammered, stepping back, his body shivering. "It's utterly illogical for you to suppress the Soulforce pressure of the fox spirit unless..."

"When the ancient goddess created the Absolute Decree, she was already on her deathbed, so she couldn't contain all of her Soulforce pressure inside the fox spirit. Although it can easily restrain any fox-beast up to the Sacred Beast realm," Aruma stated as a Soulforce pressure of even higher intensity erupted from his body, destroying the ceiling of the domain. "It doesn't have much effect on someone at the realm of a Divine Beast."

The fox spirit began disintegrating into thin air, unable to withstand the counter-pressure exerted by Aruma.

"Divine Beast!!!? He has already reached that realm!" Vyaghra, who usually remained nonchalant, gasped in shock.

"H... how did you know about the ancient goddess?" the Ancestor demanded. "I never told a soul about it and kept the ancient scriptures hidden!"

"Are you talking about these scriptures?" Aruma asked, taking out an old book from his robe.

"How did you get—"

"Yuta stole it when he rescued Hana while you were busy fighting me."

"That... that bastard," the Ancestor muttered before bolting toward Aruma with his front paws extended forward. "Return it back!"

In his haste, there was something the Ancestor was forgetting — the man he was blindly rushing toward had single-handedly killed more than ten thousand humans. And this mistake cost him dearly.

The moment the Ancestor's claws came within Aruma's range, Aruma planted one leg firmly on the ground and, using it as a pivot, rotated his body sideways, dodging the Ancestor's attack before swinging his sword in a vertical motion, severing one of the Ancestor's front paws.

"Aaghhhh!!!!" the Ancestor screamed as a river of blood splattered from his severed limb.

He quickly drew a pouch from his fur and took out a grotesque-looking pill.

The pill had an irregular shape and was dripping with a blood-like substance.

Although I couldn't smell it, just by its appearance it seemed extremely nauseating.

Even Aruma, who had witnessed countless unsightly things in his life, flinched at the mere sight of the pill.

"What is this disturbing pill?" he demanded.

"You're asking about this pill?" The Ancestor gave a devilish smile as he licked it.

"It's a high-tier healing pill that can cure any lethal wound. And moreover, it's very easy to create. I made them by mixing some common herbs along with freshly cut flesh, bone powder, and the blood of your daughter. It was quite a sight when I opened your daughter's stomach, drew her blood, and ground her backbones while she was still conscious and begged for mercy."

He swallowed the pill with a gulp before asking,

"Do you also want one?"
