Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 139: Let's see what ends first

One movement of Lightning Slash was enough to defeat Jambavan, who was at the Lesser Soul Beast realm when I had fought him, even though I used the move from several feet apart.

However, when I unleashed the same move on Drathion from zero distance, it only made a cut on his fang.

"Vivi, what's the rank of this beast?"

"Analyzing the target's rank..."

"The target is at the peak of Mid-stage Greater Soul Beast realm."

"Mid-stage! So his realm is higher than mine," I gasped as it disappeared into the darkness again.

"I'm not gonna play your games."

With one swing of my hand, I took out hundreds of Soul stones from the inventory and spread them onto the ground, revealing Drathion's whole body as it prepared for the attack in front of me.

As soon as its body became visible, I bolted towards it with Blink, leapt upward, aiming for its middle head, and just before my sword was about to slash it, Drathion released an ominous black spray from its fangs.

I was in mid-air; therefore, retreating was out of the question, so I clenched my teeth, freed one hand from the hilt, and decided to go all in.

The cave lit up from the flash of golden lightning as I descended my fist.

The impact from the Galactic Punch hurled most of the spray backward as my punch struck the middle head with a thunderous boom.

Drathion fell backward on its back, and I landed on my feet beside him.

"Tsk, so it was poison after all," I muttered, staring at the skin of my hand melting where the spray had brushed me.

I removed my blazer, folded the sleeves of my shirt, and declared, putting the blazer into the inventory, "I will destroy you if you mark a single stain on these clothes."

Drathion twisted its body, shot upright, its hood unfurling menacingly.

In the blink of an eye, all three of its heads lunged at me from three different directions.

The left head sprayed a grey sticky substance, blocking my movement, while in quick succession, a colorless breath brushed me from the right one.

"Whart is this disgusting substance. I can't move—"

Suddenly, my head began spinning, my ears started ringing and the vision before me turned blurry.

"W-was that the poison I just breathed?"

Ding...

"Neurotoxins detected in the lungs."

"Automatic defence system activated!"

"Neutralising the neurotoxin..."

"Warning! Don't consume too much poison, or the automatic defence system might fail."

Both Drathion's attack and Vivi's popping notification happened within the span of two seconds.

Before the defence mechanism could even kick in, the middle head darted, aiming for my chest with its terrifying poisonous fangs.

Squelch...

Its fang stopped a nail's length from my chest, piercing through my forearm that I sacrificed to defend myself.

"Di-didn't you hear me?" I muttered. "Don't you dare stain these clothes!"

I lifted my other hand, carrying the sword, upward and brought it down in a vertical motion, the Lightning Slash striking the same part I had hit before.

This time, the fang severed completely, pouring a waterfall of black poison into my arm.

Drathion screeched in pain and instinctively attacked me with its other heads from both sides.

However, instead of me, the heads struck each other with a loud thud as I immediately retreated a few steps back.

The Lightning Slash I had just used wasn't only meant to cut its fang; it also sliced the sticky liquid on my legs and freed my body.

Ding...

"Poisonous substance detected in the left arm."

"Neutralising the poison…

Warning! The concentration of poison is severe. Do not use your left arm or the defence mechanism might fail."

Following a splatter of blood, I pulled out the fang from my arm and pointed the blade of my sword at Drathion.

"Let me try that again."

A golden energy, flickering with violent electric pulses, coated the blade of the Vajra, and just as I thrust the blade forward, the lightning took an irregular shape and—

Boom...

It blasted in my face, turning my face black from the smoke.

"Koff-koff, why won't it work—"

Before I could steady myself, Drathion's tail spiralled around me, squeezing with crushing pressure.

"Aghh, stay away, you gross snake," I muttered, relentlessly hitting its body with my sword.

Due to my unsteady posture, neurotoxin in my lungs and poison in my left arm, I couldn't put strength into my hand, so its thick scales remained unscathed despite repeated stabbing.

Its huge tail clutched my body up to my neck with just a single coil, leaving only one hand free—the one I was using to stab it.

"Aghhh," I muttered as the grip tightened around my neck.

Clenching my teeth, I stabbed its tail again with all the physical strength I could muster, finally putting a little dent in its dense scales.

Without wasting this chance, I pushed the blade deeper and murmured,

"Lightning Bolt."

A condensed lightning sphere appeared on the tip of Vajra and entered Drathion's body from the point of contact, sending electric shocks directly into its internal organs.

Drathion immediately pulled its tail back, releasing a rasping hiss of pain.

Ding…

"The neurotoxin is completely neutralised."

"Huff… huff…" I finally breathed, leaning on my sword as my sensory organs returned to normal.

Meanwhile, Drathion began spraying its black poison onto the Soul Stones I had laid on the ground, and within just a few seconds, darkness once again engulfed the battlefield.

I raised my arms, opening the inventory in the air with a radius of almost a hundred metres, and unleashed a rainfall of Soul Stones.

"Let's see what ends first—your poison or my Soul Stones."

For every Soul Stone Drathion covered in its poison, twice that amount appeared in the cave.

Thus, without even realising it, the battle of life and death turned into a ridiculous war of boasting between my Soul Stones and Drathion's black poison.
