Chapter 796: Greed

“Why aren’t there any monsters?” Little Rain asked confusedly.
“I’m not too sure. Did we make any mistake?” Lady Casanova asked.
“I don’t think so. There weren’t any crossroads. In fact, look at the surrounding. It looks like a battlefield to me,” Seven Stars Warrior said.
“I know! We’ve forgotten something!” Jiang Fei suddenly exclaimed.
“What’s that?” Everyone looked at Jiang Fei.
“What are we here for?” Jiang Fei asked.
“To clear the dungeon,” Little Rain said matter-of-factly.
“That’s not what I’m talking about. I meant to say that we’re here to steal Dragon eggs. However, when we saw so many Dragon eggs earlier, we did not even touch any of them,” Jiang Fei explained.
“Aren’t those Dragon eggs some kind of trap?” Seven Stars Warrior asked.
“Looks like they aren’t. Those Dragon eggs must be there for us to steal,” Jiang Fei guessed.
“I don’t care. Let’s try taking a few of them,” Lady Casanova said blandly.
“Let’s go back there.” Jiang Fei nodded. The group returned once again to the incubation room.
“Someone tanky, try to grab an egg,” Lady Casanova said in the group channel.
“I’ll give it a go,” Anew Returner volunteered. Ever since he had acquired his new pet, he had yet to show off. Now that there was an opportunity to do so, he took it willingly.
“Alright, go ahead.” Jiang Fei nodded.
Anew Returner carefully walked somewhere far away from Jiang Fei and the others in case the small monsters were awakened around him.
Wham!
Anew Returner pressed his hands roughly on one of the Dragon eggs.
“How did it go?” Little Rain and the others asked nervously.
“Should I try picking it up?” Anew Returner called out.
“Yeah, try picking it up,” Jiang Fei said.
“Alright.” Anew Returner used both his hands to pick the Dragon egg up.
“What are its attributes?” Seven Stars Warrior asked.
“There aren’t any attributes. It’s only a quest item,” Anew Returner said.
“Perhaps this would only become a true pet egg after we bring it out of the dungeon,” Jiang Fei said. After all, Odis made it very clear that they would have to steal the Dragon eggs out of the dungeon. Only then would the Dragon eggs belong to them.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s pack them up!” Little Rain called out. There seemed to be an endless supply of Dragon eggs. The players were able to fill their backpacks with these eggs. They would all become rich once these eggs became real pet eggs after being brought out of the dungeon.
Even if these Dragon eggs only produced Superior quality pets, or even Fine quality pets, they would still be worth a lot in the market. For the players who could not obtain pets outside of the dungeon, these pet eggs were definitely very valuable.
“I can’t seem to place this egg in my backpack,” Anew Returner said.
“What do you mean?” Jiang Fei asked.
“Have a look,” Anew Returner said as he sent the Dragon egg’s attributes to the group.
Light Dragon’s Egg (Quest Item, Normal)
Use: Unknown
Remark: The Light Dragon’s Egg cannot be placed in a backpack. It can only be carried with bare hands.
“Damn. We can’t keep them in our backpacks.” Little Rain and the others were very disappointed. If they were unable to keep these Dragon eggs in their backpacks, each of them would only be able to take a few.
There were many ways players could carry items with them. The most common way was to keep the items in their backpacks. If the items were equipment, they could even wear them. However, some special items were not allowed to be kept in backpacks. Such items could only be carried using bare hands or behind one’s back. Usually, players would only encounter such items during an Escorting Quest.
“What do we do?” Lady Casanova asked Jiang Fei.
“Carry it however you can.” Jiang Fei smiled as he grabbed a Dragon egg and carried it on his back.
“Come on, let’s do this.” The other players copied Jiang Fei. Some of them decided to only carry one Dragon egg on their backs. Other players who were more greedy did the same but also carried another one with their bare hands. After all, these Dragon eggs would become their pet eggs after they were carried out of the dungeon.
“Alright. Let’s head toward the throne.” Jiang Fei walked toward the throne after everyone had at least picked up a Dragon egg.
Very soon, the group arrived at the hall with a throne in it. However, this time, as soon as Jiang Fei and the rest entered, something happened in the hall.
“Darned intruders. How dare you try to steal my Dragon eggs? I want all of you dead!” As a roaring sound could be heard, a giant being descended from the sky.
Light Dragon Breeder, Katrina (High Lord)
Level: 88
Health Points: 75,000,000
Attack Power: 21,000
Skills: Dragon Screech, Dragon Wing Strike, Luminous Breath, Light Catalysis, Soul Redemption.
Dragon Screech: Deals moderate damage to surrounding enemies and silence them for three seconds.
Dragon Wing Strike: Knocks the current target away and clear all aggro.
Luminous Breath: Deals significant light-based Magic damage toward the enemy in a cone-shaped area.
Light Catalysis: Randomly causes five Dragon eggs in the hall to hatch and evolves the baby Dragons into full-grown Dragons to assist in battle. When there are less than five Dragon eggs in the hall, the Light Catalysis will cease to activate.
Soul Redemption: Any death in the hall will recover Katrina’s Health Points by 20%.
“Damn! This is too much!” Jiang Fei was dumbfounded when he saw the monster’s attributes.
The person who designed this monster was very cunning. It was specifically designed to counter greedy players. The more Dragon eggs the players brought with them, the more Dragons would appear in battle and the higher the level of difficulty.
More importantly, players would not be able to kill these summoned Dragons as any deaths in the hall would recover Katrina’s Health Points.
Clearly, if the players had brought four or less Dragon eggs into the hall, one of Katrina’s strong skills would cease to work. That would have made the battle much easier.
However, none of the players could resist the temptation of owning Dragon eggs. In the end, one hundred of the players had at least brought along one Dragon egg each. In fact, quite a number of the players had even brought two Dragon eggs with them. Once Katrina activated its skill, these Dragon eggs would all become its source of the army.
“Guild master, what’s the matter?” Lady Casanova asked. After all, she and the other players were unable to read the monster’s attributes.
“Ahh, forget it. Tankers, pull the small monsters’ aggro when they appear, but make sure you don’t kill them,” Jiang Fei warned the players.
“Don’t worry, guild master. We’ve got it covered,” Seven Stars Warrior and the rest answered.
“Alright, I’m going to initiate the battle.” Jiang Fei nodded as he charged toward Katrina.
