The King of Black Fog

Chapter 319: The End of the Meteor Shower Season_3

IAO·1-Second-Spaced Ship.

The Firefly slowly detached, the unretained Circle of Constant Star, resolutely flying forward into the depths of space.

The sky of Konglu Star darkened, then lit up with spots of lights.

Li Changzhou had taken the Constant Star to the edge of the Solar System, placing it on Mars's orbit, which might come in handy in the future.

He had been gone for the better part of the day. By the time he returned to the ship, everyone had already gathered on the bridge of Changzhou.

"Captain, I thought you had died in space!" Houhou called out.

"Stop wasting time. IAO said once you're back, we need to meet him right away, to get our mission reward!" Itheri said impatiently.

Li Changzhou glanced at Li Qianxia, Yang Qinglan, Turquoise Pool, and Bi, confirming they were all fine, then smiled and said:

"Let's go."

The Changzhou and Princess ships slowly moved towards IAO's ship, docking at its port—a testament to the vast size of his vessel.

Someone was already there waiting to welcome them.

On the way to the guest room, they encountered Si who was just leaving.

Her expression was blank, her tall and perfect body ample evidence of the glory of the Divine Race.

He had no intention of interacting with her, but as they passed each other, Si initiated a conversation.

"Don't you even have a bit of hesitation?" she asked, suppressing her expression.

"For survival, some displeasures must be endured."

Watching Li Changzhou walk away, Divine·Valentine felt danger emanating from him for the second time—his conviction was solid, he honored promises, possessed kindness, and acted with cool decisiveness. Such a person seemed naturally born for the games of value.

In the Divine Race, nearly every child would ask their elders one question: why can't all possibilities be seen?

The only answer the children ever received was that only a true god could perceive all possibilities.

'God' has already been replaced by 'Victor',

Correspondingly, there is another consensus within the Divine Race—

The one who has won in all possibilities, that person is the 'Victor'.

Once this theory was proposed, it was immediately denied. A second consensus was raised—

The person who survives through all possibilities might be the 'Victor'.

Divine·Valentine couldn't see all possibilities, but from those she could, in this particular incident, no matter how she tried to hinder Li Changzhou, he always succeeded.

The chance of Li Changzhou becoming a 'Victor', judging just from this incident, was one in a billion.

If she could experience more incidents with him, to see more possibilities, perhaps it could enhance the accuracy of her judgment.

Divine·Valentine recollected her thoughts, considering the incident merely an interlude, with Li Changzhou merely a passerby; every qualified member of the Divine Race had a chance of becoming a 'Victor', beyond one in a billion.

"Valentine doesn't seem to be in good spirits," Li Changzhou said to IAO with a smile.

"Compared to before, at least she's willing to speak to me now," IAO said with a smile, in a good mood.

IAO's intervention was planned, as was relocating the population of Konglu Star into his territory, and even winning Si's favor was planned (Li Changzhou was skeptical).

"How's the plan going?" Li Changzhou asked.

"It's going smoothly," IAO didn't reveal more details.

The real plan of this mission was: dragging away the Constant Star was a trial, IAO's experiment on 'possibility-predicting the future'.

He might genuinely want to deal with the indignant of Konglu, or perhaps he used the situation to mask a grand experiment within a trivial dispute; nobody knew what he truly intended.

"This is your reward." IAO waved his hand, and a blue crystal lifeform pushed forward two boxes, stacked inside with special metals and Qi luminescence.

Itheri immediately pounced, clutching one of the boxes to her chest.

Hugging the box like a child and nuzzling it with her face, she looked up at IAO with a shy expression and asked, "Respectable Lord IAO, what about the two buckets of Ascension Liquid you mentioned?"

"Ah, right, that was mentioned." IAO remembered, turned his head to instruct the blue crystal servant to prepare it.

After some small talk, and once Itheri received the two buckets of Ascension Liquid, Li Changzhou and the others bid goodbye and left.

"Hope we have the chance to cooperate again," IAO said as he rose.

"There will definitely be opportunities," Li Changzhou said with a laugh.

With such a grand stage as Divine Will Great Wall, how could Li Changzhou possibly pass it by.

The only trouble was the commute between the two was too cumbersome, taking a large part of the day, during which no messages could be received from Earth.

His main task now was to keep an eye on the Solar System to avoid losing his hometown in a future planetary duel—Jupiter needed watching, too.

At the berth, Li Changzhou said farewell to Itheri and the others.

"Take this box of money and split it, buy Flying Cars, buy Equipment, Ascend—"

"Captain! The ship!" Da Yi and Houhou shouted in unison.

"If there's money left over, it's up to you," Li Changzhou said, "If I need to contact you, I'll leave a message for you at the bar on IAO Star where fights happen, and you can do the same if you need to find me."

"We'll be at IAO Star for a long overhaul," Luo Lei said, arms crossed, "Lord IAO will also welcome us to spend there."

Li Changzhou was about to speak when he suddenly looked out the porthole.

Everyone else looked as well.

"A meteor shower?!" Li Qianxia exclaimed.

Like a pilgrimage or a school of fish, brilliant meteors traveled together through the cosmos.

"We've come all the way here, seems like the Radiance Seat Meteor Shower season is about to pass," Itheri said dreamily.

The glow from the meteor shower inadvertently outlined words in the eyes of Li Changzhou, Yang Qinglan, and others.

[Mission Complete]

[Return Countdown: 9:59]

Li Changzhou, Yang Qinglan, Li Qianxia, Turquoise Pool, Bi, and Little Radish boarded the Princess and along with Changzhou, slowly drifted away from the berth.

The two ships traveled side by side through space for a while, a tiny deviation soon increasing the distance between them, until they vanished from each other's sensors.
